"Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia is like the gold standard. My aunt was there for 10 days, possibly two weeks at most. It's an amazing facility. It was very clean. The one caseworker I had a year ago was not great. I requested the change, and so I had a different one, and she's amazing. They did a great job with therapy. They monitored her carefully when she got a UTI. They had actual doctors. I got to talk to doctors while she was there. She had a large room. They accommodated her palate when she wasn't gaining enough weight. They worked with her and a nutritionist to find things that she would enjoy eating. They even gave her a protein ice cream just to make sure that she was getting what she needed. They were very organized and very detailed. We had copies of everything that she did. She knew when they were going to come and pick her up, so she could be ready. They take such good care of the patients there. With the exception of that one case manager, everybody was amazing and super helpful. They even trained us, the family, on how to safely help her from a chair into a car or from the wheelchair to the bed. They educated us. They even gave me a book on chemical brain injuries, so I could understand what she was going through. It really is like a magical place. The therapy room was massive, and everything was clean. It never smelled. They had a dining area, but they did not have activities and stuff because it was only for shorter stays."

"My friend is in Dulles Health & Rehab Center. The place is very, very clean. This is probably the cleanest one that I've been to. The people are very nice. It's very easy to get around the space. I've only been there once, but my first impression was it's very a nice place. The staff members are very attentive. My friend wanted to walk to his room, and one of the girls noticed that it was still a long walk, so she came with a wheelchair, which he appreciated. He arrived just after dinner, so they made sure they grabbed him dinner so he could have something to eat as well. They were just very attentive and right there, as soon as you walked in, you were greeted by a nice gentleman right up front. I saw a rehab room, it was very spacious, and it had a lot of rehab equipment in it. The building itself is very nice. They have wide open spaces which I find to be nice. It is in a nice setting. The back window opens right in the back, so you can see the trees and the little park area, so it's nice."

"The staff that I have interacted with are all extremely polite and caring and know how to handle the residents. The food is delicious as they were kind enough to feed us when we came to visit. I really like how the entryway is all painted to look like different outdoors spaces and one nook has the sounds of birds playing near a bench. The only negative thing that I can think of is that the air conditioning unit in my grand mother's room was not working when I last visited. I assume that it has since been resolved. "

"I was a patient for about three weeks. I found the facility to be clean and uncluttered. The Physical and Occupational Therapists were very good and made sure that I was doing my exercises correctly. They are very professional as are the rest of the staff. I found everyone to be very friendly and caring. I received my medications on time without fail and always with a smile. I felt like I was a family member. The food was excellent. I can't emphasis enough how friendly everyone was. If I had any concerns, it was taken care of immediately. I would highly recommend Manor Care Potomac for your rehabilitation needs."

"My sister is at The Village at Rockville - A National Lutheran Community for subacute rehab. We chose it because it's attractive and clean, and they took the insurance. They've been great. The staff has been terrific. The food varies, though some of it is pretty unappetizing. A lot of things were shut for COVID and haven't opened yet. They had a cafe, a salon, and a fitness area. It's extremely clean and well- maintained. Medicare is paying for it. There's a shopping center with restaurants about five minutes away. There's nothing like walking distance."

"My mother-in-law went to Shady Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was only there for three weeks. It was very clean. They looked like they were pretty well-staffed. Because my mother-in-law was a bit of a danger to herself with a lack of safety awareness, they ended up having to do 24/7 nannies there, so I was grateful that they were putting those things in place. They brought some things to us that we're kind of like, 'Okay, we can use this going forward.' They're ideas and how to handle things. Overall, they were really good. They didn't take 'no' as a quick answer to not do therapy. They just said, 'Okay, it's time for therapy,' and they would just take my mother-in-law and go. So my mother-in-law was getting physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. They would either come to her or she would go to wherever it was. And she seemed to be starting to improve. However, some of the medications she was on started having other issues, and so she started the downfall of her memory even further just because she started with hallucinations and stuff. But overall, the staff was fantastic. And it's a very clean facility. If I could have kept her there, I would have. The facility was nice and beautiful, too."

"As far as resources, Asbury Methodist Village has the most of all places I've been to. They offer different levels of living, from studio apartments up to your own house, basically. There they have a gym and a swimming pool. They have all sorts of activities like sewing, knitting, different clubs and things, and multiple eating facilities. There are a lot of people and a lot of social activities that are available for the folks who live there if they choose to. The food was very good, it was excellent. They have different layouts of food. They have buffets for meals on weekends. They have a little tavern/pub-style eating place. They have large dining areas and smaller dining areas depending on what you want to eat. They have full options and things for people as far as their diet and whatever they want to eat."

"My sister is in rehab at Wilson Health Care Center. She's very comfortable where she is, but she has not been there very long. Her room is OK. She likes having people around her all day. The caregivers are OK, but my sister is difficult."

"My experience at Montgomery Village Health Care Center has been great from my first experience walking through the door to leaving this facility. I would recommend my loved one coming back here again and again for rehabilitation. I would also like to recognize the Nursing Department and thanking them for all that they went through dealing with Covid and caring for my loved one. If I had to choose anyplace for rehabilitation or long-term care it would be Montgomery Village Health Care."

They had a little breakfast room that had nice and comfortable furniture. Their rooms seemed to be spacious. We spoke to the person who gave us the tour and she was very good. What I like best about this place was that it did not smell. "
