The Best Nursing Home Communities in Prince William County, VA

"My experience was my first at a retirement community and they were much different than I thought. the Campus itself was very large yet the building set up was very tasteful and upscale. The fees for residency were around $20,000 a year which seemed very expensive to me but the quality of life was very good and the amenities offered were excellent and the community seemed self-sufficient and to some degree very self-sufficient. There were convenience stores as well as a pool, gym and a fully functioning dining service which notably was extremely luxurious. The food was excellent and although it was somewhat reminiscent of a cafeteria the actual dining hall was very large and very well designed with picturesque views and ambient lighting that created a large restaurant vibe. Overall despite the price I think the community would be an excellent choice for those tired of dealing with rent, mortgages and property upkeep. "

"We visited Greenspring. I liked its location. It was near the things we wanted to go to. We saw the dining room, but we didn't visit any apartments. It was huge, which was one thing that I didn't like about it. "

"This facility treated my great-grandfather with the upmost respect. The staff was very friendly and treated all of us like family. They even had a cat that would wonder the floor, or building I should say. It was just a stray cat and when asked about it they said that the residents really enjoyed it so they didn't want to put it out. "

"I am the husband of a patient with late stage Alzheimer's. I am satified with the care she receives which includes careful attention to what she eats, periodic reviews of her medications, and appropriate physical therapy. I am personally made to feel welcome when I visit. "

"I was in long-term care at Manorcare. Their care was very good. The aides were indifferent, but the nurses were great. The physical therapists worked hard, but their equipment wasn't up-to-date, they didn't have enough of this, and they didn't have enough of that, so the physical equipment to work with was very bad. The rooms were OK and large, but the bathrooms were not very clean, which bothered me while I was there. They cleaned several times a day, but there was always trash on the floor. Their care was good, and their food was pretty good too."

"My mother goes to Leewood for respite. I have nothing but good things to say about them! They take care of my mom, she loves being with them. She's always happy to see everyone and her friends! She participates in activities, she eats very well there and she has fun! My mother is a stroke patient, she is unable to speak many words as well as use her right arm. They are always assisting her and making her comfortable! Amy- the director, always goes beyond the call of duty. She runs a wonderful place, and it shows by the caring nature of her staff! When my mother is in their care, I literally have nothing to worry about! They are our second family, and I am truly blessed to have them in our lives. "

"I have very high regard for The Virginian. My wife stayed in their skilled nursing facility for about 50 days. The service was good and the meals were terrific. They fed my wife along with the other residents of the skilled nursing facility the same menu as the residents who were fed on independent living and assisted living areas of the facility. The staff was outstanding. They published a calendar of activities and brought them to my wife's attention, but there was no interest. The pricing seemed to be not that bad compared to other senior facilities. I would rank them very highly on the cost side. Given the pricing information on what it would cost, it seemed competitively pretty good. A woman by the name of Lorna, who manages one of the wings of the skilled nursing facility, went out of her way on the day of my wife's discharge from the hospital. This lady kept her office open till about 7:15 in the evening to ensure that my wife could be fully checked in. But that was just one of many, many five-star things that the skilled nursing facility did for my wife while she was there."

"My daughter was previously in Gainesville Health and Rehab for 11 weeks in 2014. It was much better. The room was a semi-private room, which was better furnished. It was a newer building and not as worn down. The staff was good, both the caring staff as well as the occupational and physical rehab staff. She had some food in her room and some in the dining room, and it was more than adequate. She had physical, occupational, and speech therapy. They had activities you could join in to -- sing-alongs, church services, puzzles, and games -- but she was not able to participate in any of those. The staff was very warm, welcoming, very cordial, easy to get in touch with, and responsive. "

"We were able to move my loved one into Golden Living Center-Sleepy Hollow the Friday right before Mother’s Day. It seems like a wonderful facility. The people that work there and the tenants all seem like very nice people. The nursing staff is wonderful and is always on top of thing. I wouldn’t call the room great, but I would call it perfect for her needs because she needs around-the-clock care and the room offers that perfectly. "

"We had chosen a place for my mom but she had passed away. She was at Lake Manassas Health and Rehab. There's a lot of phone communication and through-the-window communication with them. They were very responsive. If I had an issue, they were quick to address it with the staff. I think they took really good care of Mom. My mom was there for two months. We did get to go in the morning that Mom started having seizures. That's the one thing that I love about this place is that they let me and my dad come in and visit her the day before she passed away. We had to do everything like temperature, put on masks, gowns and gloves, but we got to go in and be with her. It was great. Very clean, very organized, and bright. It looked like a great place. It was during COVID, we couldn't get in there to help out with Mom. Her room was very nice. It was a single room with a shared bathroom, with a woman next to her. Their shower and the bathroom were in there, so they didn't have to go down the hall. I talked to the front office more than I got to talk or meet the other staff. They were excellent. I thought the value for money was excellent. I know that they have activities person (activities director), and that they had calendars up but because of COVID, they couldn't mingle. The best thing about this place is that they only have one case of COVID."

"We searched for a facility for my step-mother and visited quite a few places in Virginia and some in DC and Maryland. Without question, Mt. Vernon Nursing was the best we visited. This is a 5-star rated facility by Medicare. The staff and the residents seemed happy and the place was immaculate! At the time we visited, they had a group of musicians playing for the residents...it was so satisfying to watch the smiles on the faces of the residents. Their therapy facility was modern and featured the latest equipment. Definitely our top choice for Mom. "

"My mother was a resident at Iliff Nursing Home for 61/2 years. I am so thankful that she was well taken care of. The staff became her family away from home. They made her feel special. It is true that sometimes the response from the nurses/nurses aids weren't as prompt as we would like it. However we have to remember that they have a very though job taking care of all their patients that are all incapacitated. The staff is adequate and caring. They have lots of activities that my mother used to enjoy . She had the best medical care and I was kept well informed. After a two day stay in the hospital we were told that she needed to go into Hospice care . We decided to take her back to Iliff so that she could be among her own surroundings. She passed away peacefully 11 days later. On my many visits I interacted with some residents and I got positive feedback. I have visited people in other nursing homes and I will say that Iliff is in the top of my list. "

"My friend is in Dulles Health & Rehab Center. The place is very, very clean. This is probably the cleanest one that I've been to. The people are very nice. It's very easy to get around the space. I've only been there once, but my first impression was it's very a nice place. The staff members are very attentive. My friend wanted to walk to his room, and one of the girls noticed that it was still a long walk, so she came with a wheelchair, which he appreciated. He arrived just after dinner, so they made sure they grabbed him dinner so he could have something to eat as well. They were just very attentive and right there, as soon as you walked in, you were greeted by a nice gentleman right up front. I saw a rehab room, it was very spacious, and it had a lot of rehab equipment in it. The building itself is very nice. They have wide open spaces which I find to be nice. It is in a nice setting. The back window opens right in the back, so you can see the trees and the little park area, so it's nice."

"My elderly father was there with a broken leg the summer of 2015. I would like to thank the PT (Brittany & Kristin) who were excellent, Jamila Ali, RN who listened to a couple of serious concerns and addressed them immediately, Richard (Supervisor of Nursing) who always had time for me and my questions no matter how busy he was and for Maxine and Sierra as the CNA's. I would also like to thank Nancy Rubel, the SW who was very helpful and compassionate. Thanks for making a difficult situation so much easier for me to deal with. I was always full of questions and everyone was good to humor me and answer my concerns. I would like to thank all of the above on behalf of my father and me. "
