Woodbridge, Virginia, is located along the Atlantic Coast, just south of Washington, D.C. There’s plenty for seniors aged 65 and older, about 7% of the population, to do in the area, including shopping at the large Potomac Mills Shopping Mall or the Stonebridge at Potomac Town Centre Shopping Center. For those who enjoy spending time outdoors, there are several parks, including the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
To meet new friends, enjoy crafts or hobbies, or take a fitness class, the Prince William Senior Center is a popular place for seniors in the area. The temperate climate with breezes from the nearby Atlantic and the proximity to the nation’s capital make Woodbridge a desirable place to retire and for seniors to age in place.
In Woodbridge, there are several reputable home care services to help seniors retain their independence and age in place, surrounded by friends and family. These include both homemaker services, such as chore assistance, and health care, with visiting health care professionals. According to the Genworth Cost of Care 2018 Survey, these services run an average of $22.50 per hour for homemaker assistance and $23.38 for home health care. This is higher than the national average of $21 and $22, respectively. Seniors in Woodbridge can anticipate paying between $4,290 to $4,458 per month.
Note: Home health care cost data was not available for Woodbridge, so data for the closest city, Washington, D.C., was used here.
At Caring.com, we’ve compiled a comprehensive directory of every home care provider in the Woodbridge area – complete with types of care provided, services offered and reviews from families who’ve actually used the service. In addition to our in-depth provider listings, we’ve compiled a list of resources to help seniors and their families access all the tools they need to age in place safely and gracefully.

This company is beyond amazing and for one main reason- Dr.Green. She was very supportive and understanding and seriously did the most to help my family out in a extremely difficult time.
Both my mom and grandfather were hospitalized at the same time, in different hospitals and we needed help getting my grandfather home care upon his release. Dr.Green did her best to find us a caregiver with a similar background and one who spoke Arabic to make my grandfather feel more comfortable. My grandfather has a fear of hospitals and Dr.Green wanted to make sure his experience was a good one. Upon securing our home care nurse, she called and texted daily to see if we needed anything and was honestly such a pleasure to work with. She truly made our experience such a easy one and made a difficult time much easier. I don’t know how we would have managed without her.
Thank you Dr.Green!

Last year my father was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer. He managed to live about 2 months after the initial diagnosis.
These 2 months were the most grueling and emotional 2 months I have ever gone through. I can’t speak for my mother, but I know that she had a very difficult time as well. There was no way that my mom or I were going to be able to take care of my father by ourselves, especially with me still working full time. Knowing that there was someone there taking care of my father, put both my mother and myself at ease. I know the rest of our family feels the same way I do. I want to thank Michele for her excellent care of my father in his final months of life. I know it couldn’t have been easy but her professionalism and patient care was greatly appreciated in our time of need.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
