I spoke with a total of 4 home care providers when looking for assistance with a loved one suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's and am so thankful for guidance provided by Home Instead. Within a couple mins of speaking to their VP of Marketing (Pam) I learned of her unique insight and passion for helping families deal with the scary inconsistencies of memory loss. To say she went above and beyond during what was essentially an emergency situation for my family is to sell her short - she personally filled gaps in the schedule to provide the respite I needed and was extremely conscientious about our loved one's experience with the caregivers. She also strongly advocated for a full time memory care facility (even though this meant we would only use her services for a short period of time), made recommendations for local ones she thought would be a good fit, and followed up with me personally after the transition to see how I was doing and how the transition went. If you are looking for in-home care in the Northern Virginia area, I strongly recommend starting with Home Instead Falls Church and using them as your comparison for any other organizations you might consider.

Home Instead has been helping us for about six months, every day. We really do not know how or even if we would be able to cope with our difficulties without Home Instead. The nurses who came to our house were competent, were extremely friendly, besides helping our physical needs were also a moral help. They always showed up on time. The sfaff of Home Instead also monitors our situation so as to ensure that the help they provide responds to our needs. They also efficiently take care of the paper work with our ensurance company. They are friendly and competent. If we ever made a good decision regarding our health care, it was when we decided to ask Home Instead to help us. Andrei Filotti, PhD

Home Instead has provided incredible care and relief to my family. Initially we used one of their providers one day a week for my mother. This aid has become a confidant of my mother. The way that the office staff took the time to understand my mother and her needs, allowed them to find just the right person. After my mother was home recovering from surgery we have used them to provide 24/7 coverage. All of the staff who have come to care for my mother have been caring and knowledgeable. Not only that, they take the time to understand my mothers needs and care about her well being. I fully recommend Home Instead for any home care you may need.

Joy is really good with Jeanie. She and I have something we can both improve on—that is "clutter". We allow too much clutter to gather around the house.

I have peace of mind now that I have a caregiver. I can go out and do things I enjoy, like visiting friends.

We hired Home Instead Senior Care for my mom. They are excellent and very responsive. They are easy to get along with. All has been good. They would also have a nurse to come in case my mother's health would deteriorate to evaluate her, and I think that is extremely helpful.

We started our journey with Home Instead more than a year ago. We have been blessed with an outstanding team. I say team because the office staff is as wonderful as the caretakers. I heartily recommend them as they have provided me with the sanity to know that my husband is safe and well cared for while I am at work.

Our mother was a client for many years with this organization. Her caregiver was like a member of our family and provided outstanding care. She gave us peace of mind when we were not available and provided mom with the most wonderful care, even in the final days of her life. While mom is no longer with us, we still keep her memory alive by staying in touch with the caregiver.

This would have been a lower rating except for the care provider they gave us one night. She was so good that we hired her as a live-in for two months. She cheered my husband up all the time, was meticulous about medications, dedicated to seeing his needs were met, never complained, and was totally trustworthy and competent. I think she extended my husband's life span! Those who came before her were very uneven in quality. Some fell asleep, some were on the phone all the time, some didn't know what to do for him. In general I would not recommend this service. They were good at making sure there were people when needed. Often people were late or did not show up and they would get someone there fairly quickly.
