Please do not use this facility for any services. There are multiple unsafe conditions and a consistent failure to provide basic care to its patients. I am beside myself that I didn't recognize this earlier and had to work fast to remove my family member.

Very disappointed from the 1st day my father arrived. Kept pushing the help button to get changed and no one came from close to 2 hours, then said they would come back to change him and never came back. The next shift came on and came to check on him after he pushed the button again and they told my father that no one told them he needed to be changed. The last day he was there, he was released before they confirmed that he had Oxygen at home, which he didn't. A portable canister was to be delivered before he left so he would have oxygen during his ride home and a stationary unit was to be delivered to the the facility for him to have when transported home. How dangerous was this that my father sat at home for nearly 3 hours before oxygen was delivered? All I heard was how sorry they were and that he shouldn't have been allowed to leave until it was delivered. They are very lucky my father didn't die or have a medical episode during these 3 hours. I have a laundry list of additional complaints, as well. Poor security upon entry to the facility, not answering the emergency call button in a timely manner, misinformation and finger pointing, unclean room at times, and some staff who seemed to not care about the Patients. Very disappointing and would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone else!

This places is a dump. The facility is dirty. The food smells bad. The staffing is the most incompedent lacking basic manors and is disrespectful and rude. If you want anything you have to ask ad ask and ask again to have the most basic of needs. Leadership is also non communicative. Does not return calls. They have an excuse for everything. WHen asking for a simple request it is met with an excuse as to why they can't. They are not over worked as many times I watched the staff looking at there person devices instead of tending to the needs of a resident who may need assistance with the restroom. A resident waited over 45 minutes to be changed. How indignifing is that to let people sit like that when you are to busy looking at your phone. Recently I had to call the front desk to send help to my family members room. Next time I will just call the police to report abuse.

The room my husband stayed in was dirty and in disrepair. Very little interaction with saff. They had no activities or amenities. We left after 46 hours. After his medications were not given correctly and he had an undocumented fall on the night of admission. I was on the phone with him while he called for help.

My husband was placed in quarantine and the family could not visit. Manorcare is suppose to be a place to help with physical therapy after a hospital stay. My husband was 83 years old. When I demanded to see him, a nurse took me the back way to his room (Room151) where I found my husband completely alone without a blanket. My husband begged me to get him out of there, but I did not have to do that as he got pneumonia during his visit and was sent to Fair Oaks Hospital. With 6 days he was passed. Please be knowledgeably before sending your loved one to that facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was in long-term care at Manorcare. Their care was very good. The aides were indifferent, but the nurses were great. The physical therapists worked hard, but their equipment wasn't up-to-date, they didn't have enough of this, and they didn't have enough of that, so the physical equipment to work with was very bad. The rooms were OK and large, but the bathrooms were not very clean, which bothered me while I was there. They cleaned several times a day, but there was always trash on the floor. Their care was good, and their food was pretty good too.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing! We are glad to hear you were happy with your therapy and that you thought we treat our patients with dignity and respect. We have a Care Line that is available to address your concerns if you are not comfortable talking to the local administrator.

This place is a dump. Mom was there for 5 days while we took respite. She is end-stage dementia, non-verbal and bed-bound. Where do I begin? I got a call day 3 to ask if she has food allergies (seafood). Get call later in day to say she was given seafood for lunch (the allery was indeed listed on intake form). Her room was switched on day 4 after a visitor complained about black mold (have pictures). On day 5 she came home to us without any of the possessions she left with. Not even the clothes she was wearing was hers. She stunk of urine so bad. Turned out she was soaking wet through bed linens. All went in garbage. THE WORST PART - marks all over her back and inside and outside of thighs. My non-verbal mother is screaming in pain when attempting to touch her right leg. Her blood pressure, which is normally low is through the roof and so is her pulse. 2 bed sores (none when she left). A stage 1 and stage 2. She has a UTI. Her legs are constricted. She has been given more morphine in the last 3 days than in the last 3 months just to try to make her comfortable. AND WHERE THE HECK IS HER STUFFED BUNNY? i talked to a discharge person the day mom was leaving and she PROMISED the bunny would come home with her. I made the 40 minute drive the following morning to get it but it was nowhere. Do not send a goldfish there! DUMP!

My husband was at Manor Care, and our experience was terrible. Their care was inadequate. They made a big mistake in taking my husband to the hospital for an appointment, which he did not have. I was pretty distressed that they had taken him outside the facility without me knowing about it.

Manorcare has a caring environment. But overall it’s not pleasant because most of the people are laying down most of the time. It was very clean and very nice. There was nothing negative about it. It’s just that it looks sad because people are laying around. It was bright; I didn’t see any neglect. They are hardworking people over there. The caregivers are overloaded with jobs.

I would not recommend ManorCare-Fair Oaks. My father-in-law was there for two weeks only. He was in an unusual case and they didn't adjust to his situation at all. They weren't even going to really decide on planning on working with him until he was there for a week and by the time a week had gone past, we were just very frustrated. As they took him in, I felt like they should have had the staff and the understanding of how to treat somebody with his situation. They were nice enough but we were not particularly pleased with the care that he received there.

I visited this facility

Two years ago my mother ended up needing to be at Manorcare Nursing Home at Fair Oaks, VA. The facility is under-staffed with mostly poor quality staff. Some workers were good and caring while the rest were over worked and non-caring. The issue is the Managment. Management is not hiring quality people who are caring and have a passion for caring for patients and they do not hire sufficient workers. Our family ended up providing 24 hour health care to my mother with very limited assistance from the Manorcare staff. Facility has high potential if the management is changed.

I visited this facility

The staff that I have interacted with are all extremely polite and caring and know how to handle the residents. The food is delicious as they were kind enough to feed us when we came to visit. I really like how the entryway is all painted to look like different outdoors spaces and one nook has the sounds of birds playing near a bench. The only negative thing that I can think of is that the air conditioning unit in my grand mother's room was not working when I last visited. I assume that it has since been resolved.

Both my mother and grandmother have had longterm stays at this facility. On one hand the staff is very good about knowing family members and keeping us updated on what's going on etc. On the other hand, frequently the staff seems apathetic and sometimes choose the treatment option that is easiest for them and not the patient. Given the number of patients in the facility however it does seem that everyone gets lots of individual attention.
