My mother was a resident of Knollwood for many years. It is a "progressive living" facility with independent living, assisted living, and nursing care. I am familiar with five other facilities that my father-in-law has lived in and Knollwood is by far the best I have seen.The facility as a whole is large so has a lot of amenities that smaller facilities might not have - beautiful grounds, a guesthouse, a chapel, a small store, and a swimming pool among them. There are many activities and clubs. Knollwood was originally a home for the wives of military officers and WACs and there is still a strong military influence in the speakers, excursions, and activities. It is a pet charity for many Officers' Wives Clubs and other groups.My mother received excellent care in the nursing home section. She was always clean, never had a hint of a bedsore, and was watched carefully. The on-staff dietician supervises all residents' diets and observes their likes and dislikes as well as their need for assistance. I live 600 miles away so communication was very important. The quarterly care conference was conducted over the phone. I was called with questions and kept up-to-date on any changes in her condition.The only reason I did not give Knollwood five stars is because of staff turn-over. The aides and nursing staff is very stable but some of auxiliary staff especially the social workers turn over very quickly.I would recommend Knollwood.
