My brother in law was here for rehab following surgery. He received excellent care and was able to return home and functional independently. Rehab was thorough in reviewing all the obstacles he might encounter at home and addressing them. He and his wife were pleased with the care and thoughtfulness of the staff during his stay.

Modern rooms that are kept clean. The staff is friendly, caring and compassionate. I believe they struggle with staffing issues but that is an issue with many similar facilities including hospitals. The doctor, nurses and supporting staff including the Director are readily available to discuss any questions or concerns.

While a family member has been staying at this facility I encountered so many great nurses to care for his needs. As busy as they are of course they always seem to make sure he feels like he’s top on the list when with him. I would definitely recommend Lorien Encore at Turf Valley

This place is awful, don’t go here or put your loved ones through this nightmare. So much wrong that won’t fit in a review here. Rude staff, bad food, inconsiderate management, low value for what you get. Just look elsewhere, you’ll be much better off. Zero stars is more accurate.

The room is the best part of this Assisted Living place. The staff that is support staff and not nursing staff is often over worked and not attentive to the residents needs. The nursing staff is difficult to find and it is a habit of most staff to not answer call buttons. There is a great need for state oversight inspections during meal times due to residents having difficulties trying to feed themselves. If you try to talk with any supervisor there is no privacy. The price for this AL place is not acceptable due to the poor care of the residents who are often ignored.

My grandmother is happy with Lorien Encore because it isn't in the city. It's county-like and it's not in the city. She has been there for about two months now. I like all the different activities, and I like them notifying us of any kind of situation going on whether it be COVID-related or anything like that. They have bingo, board games, other group activities, entertainment, and movies. I haven't tried the food, but my grandmother hasn't complained about it, and she is quick to complain if she doesn't like it. She's in a private room, and she loves it. She was in a room with someone else, but she was having too many problems with that, and I think she likes it better in the room alone.

My family member was there as a patient and was well taken care of. Whenever I would call to check on them the staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. Most of my interaction was by phone. My family and I felt good knowing that our family member was treated well by the friendly staff.

My mom is a resident of Encore at Turf Valley. They had a lower staff-to-patient ratio than the other place she went by a good deal. It has an attached assisted living to it that she can move directly into. It's very close to my home as well. It just seems like the people were very caring, and they check on her a lot. The therapy is good. They do have activities, but she hasn't participated yet because she's still partially paralyzed. They're updated and modern. She has a nice, large room. They have a movie theater and a wonderful, big courtyard. She's still covered under Medicare right now with her Rehab, so I don't know how much it costs. From what I heard, once you move to self-pay, it's pretty expensive.

I visited my neighbor in Encore at Turf Valley. It was a nice and clean community. The staff seemed to be pretty receptive and kind, and they were meeting the needs of the individual I was visiting. I've only seen the open public areas like the recreational room or the activity room, but I think they have a little movie theater there. It was really impressive. There is only one thing I recalled that I didn't understand. One of the patients just continuously called for "Service, service, service" or "Help!", but that could have just been an isolated incident and I just happened to hear it at that time. Eventually their needs were met, and the staff were there to accommodate. Other than that, the staff regularly visit the residents, and cleanliness was pretty good.

Don't take your loved one to this place. They falsely advertise good care and it is far from the truth. The nurses were abusive and no one responded to repeated requests for help. I could hear people calling for help and nurses complaining about the person in distress and others asking for help. When multiple complaints taken to the administrator, he (Lou) refused to listen to our requests and what we have observed. They don't return phone calls and do not respond to requests about patient care. Very rude staff. Broken promises. Bruises on patients from the nurses, wrong diet orders and patient weight loss. Horrible care.

The rooms are spacious but warm and inviting. The views are sunny and pleasant. Bathrooms are well appointed as is the kitchen area. The staff is engaged with the residents and very respectful of their feelings and needs. A resident who is unable to participate in activities is still included in the group. The food is well presented and prepared and each residents preferences are met individually.

My mother was here for two weeks for physical therapy. 50% of the staff was caring and attentive the other 50% terrible, attitudes and not responding or saying "I will be right back" and never come back. Physical therapy was awesome, but I would not recommend for long term. I visited every single day because the staff was so hit or miss.

A good friend of mine has her mother here and on her behalf I want to rave about this facility! My friend of 30 years had to put her mother in an Assisted Living and it was a difficult process for her. She had worked with Lisa and thanks to Lisa's kindness, patience and knowledge, she was about to help my friend during a difficult time. My friend was so appreciative of the time and energy Lisa put in with her. I highly recommend this facility, not only for the kindness of the workers, but the cheerful feeling you get when you enter the building! The nurses are great and trained properly when dealing with the elderly. I also like seeing people out for activities in the lobby. It's a good feeling walking into the building and seeing happy faces.

I have to share my experience during a recent visit to see a dear friend of mine. According to my friend, the activity department has many outstanding programs. On the day of my visit there was scheduled exhibit called "Santa's old time toy shop" that was presented by Ed Wolford. What a great idea to bring back memories of past fun and holiday times. How did they get all those old toys from the 1930's to present day? Let me also mention a program 'on the porch' (I don't know the real name of the program) but what a unique idea to imitate a front porch 'family chat' complete with leaves, brooms, and a pitchfork! This department is strong evidence of 'thinking outside of the box'. Good Job! I will not hesitate in sharing this info with anyone who is considering placing their loved one in a 'home'.

My father was there for rehab, but only for a few days. The ladies in the admission department are welcoming, kind caring individuals who show they truly care about putting your loved ones in a facility and were a delight to work with! The rehab department was wonderful and Patty the Nurse was outstanding! The only issue was the response time with other nurses. If there could be duplicates of Patty then we would have never left. The weekend staff was not reliable when asking a clinical question and took a while to get to the room. The place was very clean and the food was outstanding! We just wish the weekend staff was as attentive and knowledgeable as Patty.

The Rehab department at Encore is the best of any, I have attended in Ellicott City! Their PT, OT or SLP employees never leave your side the entire time you are having treatment. Other facilities put you on a devise and walk off to chat. This does not occur at Encore! This constant attention pays off in the patient quickly returning to Along with five stars for this department, the nursing care is extraordinary and the food that is prepared in house, can rival the best restaurant. A visitor tray can be ordered for $5.00, which is an unusual offering in this type of facility.

Simply put, they saved my moms life. This place is the most incredible facility in the business, bar none . The staff is so caring and have become like family to my mom and to the family. They really take pride in what they do. Spotless and a happy atmosphere. LOVE THIS PLACE.

Encore at Turf Valley was very nice, and the rooms were spacious. The lady interviewing me was very cordial. I was shown a copy of their weekly activities, and it was very nice from what I saw written down. They have activities going on for the residents, and I happened to notice one of their activities where the residents were in the dining room with somebody who had come in from the outside, and they were playing some kind of game, which they seemed to be enjoying. I found the atmosphere there to be very nice.

This is the nicest facility I have ever been to. The staff falls all over themselves to be nice and they are very willing to answer your questions and reassure you during a challenging time. My mom was scared at first, but the staff was so attentive! My mom felt like family when she left and even plans to go back for her outpatient therapy. Plus, the café has the best sandwich I ever had. I might just swing by to grab lunch there. Who would have thought?!

You never believe your family member is going to need to be in a Rehab Facility. When it happens out of the blue, you are stunned, numb and scared. This happened to me last February when after a fall and a 2 week hospitalization my husband needed to be admitted to Encore at Turf Valley. Despite the fact that I am in the health care field, I was overwhelmed. But the staff at Encore Turf Valley soon allayed my fears and helped me to adjust while they provided outstanding care to my husband. He was admitted as soon as he was discharged. He was treated with respect and interest. Everyone did everything they could to easy his discomfort (fx hip with pins and broken wrist with plate and pins). They were gentle but firm about rehab as needed and the staff did all they could to make it pleasant for him. They were also caring of me as I spent time with him. Turf Valley at Encore is amazing. It is Excellent,New, Caring, Organized, Respectful and Eager to make the patient the focus of it all. Thanks Encore and Staff. Please note the words first letter spell ENCORE

Encore at Turf Valley is like a cruise ship. It’s very homey and elegant. Everyone that I have been in contact with was very friendly and professional. The residents that I saw seemed happy. The grounds and the dining area were elegant. It’s in a safe and clean neighborhood. They did bingo, Pictionary, music and dancing and singing. They’ve had vendors come in.

I did not really get a comfortable feeling with the physical therapy department at Encore at Turf Valley. My sister had a stroke, and I specifically mentioned to them about post-stroke care and post-stroke rehabilitation. Their answers were not direct. They did not really assure me that they were right up there. For example, I asked them about post-stroke patients, and other facilities specifically told me some of the therapies that they use for post-stroke patients, but here they said, "Well, we have handled post-stroke patients." To me, that was too vague. They were not specific enough. They were very good in other areas. Perhaps, if someone else had answered my question about the physical therapy, the answer would have been different.

Encore at Turf Valley is the closest one to our house. My mother-in-law ate the food, and she said it was really good. She broke her hip and was in there for six weeks. The staff was very caring, and she didn't need for anything. She spent two weeks in assisted living in September, and the room that she had was wonderful. She didn't participate much because it was new to her, but then when she was in with the hip, she wanted to go see music and all kinds of things. She likes to do puzzles, and so she mostly stayed in her room and did puzzles. It was secure. There was somebody right at the door. You can't go in unless you signed in and if you take her out, you had to sign her out. It was really good.

We ended up going to Encore because the price was a little better, and they also have a skilled nursing onsite. It was a beautiful place, and the rooms were very nice. It's new, and they have skilled nursing on site in a separate wing, so if there would ever be a need for skilled nursing, they wouldn't have to leave the facility, and they actually have physical therapy and occupational therapy with therapy rooms and all of the actual equipment on site. They have 24/7 nursing, so that's another thing. That there is always a nurse around the clock should something happen. And my father's primary care physician happens to have some other of her clients that are there, so she kind of visits in an unprofessional way; she visits them through her church, so she'll stop in and see my father when she is visiting people from her church. The staff members are professional, and they care about the residents and desire to do a good job. It's an extremely clean facility, there are no odors, and it is very nice. The staff seems to be oftentimes rushed, so it seems that they might be a little understaffed although he is cared for very well. I know, for example, that in the main dining room, it takes quite a long time to get served. They only have a couple of staff working to bring out the food, and apparently, they got a lot of complaints about that. But, overall, it is a very nice facility, and we've had excellent care for my father. Family can dine with them during any meal, and they can come 24 hours a day if they ever need to; if it is after hours, you are given an access code, so if you wanted for some reason to visit at 3 am, you certainly could. They have all kinds of wonderful activities that family members are welcome to join in -- like I've sat in on several concerts with the,m and it was absolutely fabulous. They've got some really good entertainment -- I was really impressed -- and they've got exercise classes and what not. My father has actually done so much, he has greatly improved both physically and mentally at Encore, and he's only been there since the end of March. He was primarily wheelchair bound, and now he is using a walker and walking. It is really good, and he's got a fairly severe heart condition, which they have to monitor very closely, and they’ve been doing an excellent job, which he hasn't had any problems; he's had no hospitalization, so they are really on top of things.

My mother was in this facility. Nicely decorated, but that does not count. I found out that her medicine had not arrived by staff after 4 days because it comes from Millenium Pharmacy in Gaithersburg , Md. Staff was in attentive in the evenings & few in number. Nurse's station phones went unanswered. An RN is in charge of facility, not a doctor . Dr's seem to be on a contract basis. I saw one young orderly in the evening trying to divide up medicine for far too many rooms in a dimly lit hallway-too much room for error to me. My mother did fall during this stay as well.

My husband following a hip fracture was transferred from HCGH to Encore at Turf Valley for rehab. In the month and half he has been at this facility we have found the meals delicious, room kept spotless, unusual requests/needs immediately made possible and most important the staff have been exceptional. Many of the staff have commented "Encore is a great place to work!", which I am sure is reflected in low turnover. The physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech sessions have been intense and brought him back to his baseline, which was our goal in choosing Encore! We would highly recommend their facility.

Very busy. Mostly semi-private rooms. Staff stressed. Weekday staff well trained. Weekend staff was part time and did not work well together. Overall was disappointed with quality of care for the cost was self pay at $400 per day. Timely availability and dispensing of medications through Melenium Pharmacy did not work. Hurt / caused unnecessary pain transferring wife to/from wheelchair. Tried to give her food in hospital bed she never eats in bed. Transferred her to wheelchair in morning without dressing or bathing properly put breakfast tray in front of her told her to eat and left her alone. She is prone to choking when eating

Allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for the fine care of my mother received during the 3 ½ years she resided at Encore. While no elder facility is entirely perfect and obviously “there’s no place like home”, I was confident that she was being treated well and with respect, which brought peace of mind to myself and her entire family. And the creativity and energy of the Activities staff, as well as the beautiful facility, made living there infinitely more pleasant for her! The entire staff is to be commended for their conduct; however, I feel I need to mention several staff members who stand out as being particularly good during my mother’s final weeks. Pat (day nurse) and Nina (evening/weekend nurse) were highly professional and attentive in their care for my mother, as well as being responsive to any concerns of the family. And Salin and Colleen were truly exceptional in the competent care and personal kindness shown toward my mother during the past several years, but especially at the end of her life. These women provided comfort, both physical and emotional, during a very difficult period and I am eternally grateful to each of them. Please extend my thanks to the administration and staff. I have spoken highly of our experience with Encore to others in the community and shall continue to do so. I am so thankful that Encore was available to my mother following her stroke in 2010-the location and services offered have been ideal. Best wishes for your continued success.

Don't be fooled. The facility is in a nice area and the grounds look nice but the treatment is the concern. My grandmother went there for rehab because of weak legs and they did no fall risk assessment, leaving her unprotected. She fell and broke her hip, blood clots soon developed and surgery was needed. She's now in severe pain and fighting for her life because of Encore. The facility has shown no interest in her condition since she left in an ambulance. I also question why they told my grandmother to defecate on herself during her stay rather than to worknto allow her to use a bedpan. A complete lack of caring contrary to Encore's carefully crafted PR advertisement. Terrible place. Rating should be a 0 but that's not an option.

I chose Encore at Turf Valley because it was a good distance between my mom and I. I thought the staff were very good and very nice although their inspection control factor were a little lacking. The physical therapist and occupational therapist were really good. It was difficult to get in touch with the physician when we wanted to speak with them. There were lots of activities that mom could do in the rehab, and the facility itself is very nice and clean.
