Many of our residents enjoy their time with each other, as well as with family, on any of the 3 spacious and shaded porches looking onto the estate with many beautiful trees and features together with the surrounding woods. The ages of the residents range from 65-95 years. The residents here truly enjoy sharing meals together that are prepared by our cook and staff! During this time together they enjoy music, the sound of the waterfall above the indoor pond, sitting by the beautiful, safe and secure, 3-dimensional fireplace that is a feature of the dining room, and spending time with each other. Residents here can better form intimate friendships in our small family-owned setting!

We have a wonderful activities director here who plans games, activities, and parties for birthdays and holidays. We host a relaxed daily exercise routine for our residents and have PT and OT specialists that work with our residents. We are host to many family members and volunteers that offer warm presence and companionship. Here we truly are a home.

We are located directly next door to The Catonsville Senior Center Park. We are less than 5 miles from Downtown Catonsville on Fredrick Road, as well as Main Street Elicott City. There are many scenic drives in the area as well as great places to eat and stay for visiting family and friends.

We are experienced in helping those that need a mechanical diet, assistance with eating, and Palliative care.

We stand out because of our care ratio, on average one caregiver to three residents. We have electronic call buttons we provide to all of our residents to notify a staff member when they need assistance. Our rooms and bathrooms are equipped with accommodating features such as grab bars on the walls, 'roll-in' showers with seating, and toilet seat risers. We utilize a range of safety devices and measures such as motion sensors, pressure sensor pads for beds, floors, and chairs, and timed staff checks. This can also include which room is chosen.

Here our door is always open to welcome visiting loved ones. We encourage phone calls and are always happy to help residents with incoming or to make outgoing calls. We feature 'My Live Wall' units that display messages and pictures uploaded by family and friends in the residents rooms. Our residents are promptly given their mail and assisted with reading and responding as need be. We care about our residents and treat them like family.

Our care ratio is what sets us apart. During the day we average at minimum 2 caregivers to 8 residents. We have additional staff, family, visitors, present throughout the day. The owner as well as several family and caregivers live on site that can be contacted during an emergency 24/7. During the overnight shift we generally have one experienced staff member who performs routine safety checks on each resident.

Certified med-tech training, safety and senior care yearly 20-hr. certification, first aid and CPR training.

We have two caretakers present during daytime hours and one experienced caretaker during overnight hours. Our owner and manager lives one sight as well as as many as 3 other caretakers in apartments above the facility.

The Waterfalls is an updated memory-care home facility outfitted to unsure resident safety. We implement routine safety checks by our staff and can do this according to each residents safety needs. Our staff actively communicates the health status of each resident and those who are at-risk to wander can be closely observed to ensure safety. We work hard to maintain an environment that is comfortable to our residents and will make changes based on their safety needs. We use many safety devices such as pressure sensors for beds, chairs, and floors, and motion sensors.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

The assessment is done prior to admissions. Then the house physicians will be given vitals and progress notes and approve medications monthly. The assessment will also be updated by our Delegating RN and house manager every 6 months or when a significant change occurs. We contact a designated family member or loved one (POA) in the event of any changes.

We accommodate residents in ways that are most comfortable and functional for them throughout their time and are experienced in making necessary adjustments. We have everything available from utensils specific to needs, bibs and placemats, staff members to assist and cue residents individually, and a great family atmosphere where our residents help each other to enjoy healthy meals. We prepare our meals specifically to each residents needs including issues with chewing and swallowing as well as those that need more intensive care.

Our facility has a dedicated 24/7 landline. We encourage and assist residents with making phone calls, reading and writing letters, and arranging visits and outings. In the even of any health changes we immediately notify family members initially with their primary contact.
