Rehab was thorough in reviewing all the obstacles he might encounter at home and addressing them. He and his wife were pleased with the care and thoughtfulness of the staff during his stay."

"We really liked Woodholme Gardens. It was located in a really nice wooded type area. The accommodations were beautiful, and their sizes vary. They all had refrigerators and all the bathrooms were spacious. They had rooms where they could maybe just have a hospital bed or a twin bed, but most rooms had full size beds. They were very friendly from the time we walked in the door. The manager was the one that gave us the tour. They served us lunch and they showed us the different rooms and common areas. They had a nice garden area where people could go out and sit. They had a salon and a barbershop. They had several nice private areas where the family could come and visit. The residents seemed very comfortable sitting and talking amongst themselves, and some talking with the staff. In the elevators they had a full listing of what activities would be going on daily for the month. They had activities where they took the residents out."

"They simply take care of you like family. Nice and cozy. Home is kept extremely clean free of odors. They have a lot of experienced medical professionals on site which helps a lot and gives peace of mind to both me and my family. Enjoying my stay so far."

"My sister moved into Aventura at the Heights. It's an old house that has been refurbished, there's a lovely lobby/sitting area that leads into the dining room. She's fortunate because her room is right across from there on the first floor, so she doesn't have very far to go. I heard that there are two other floors, but I've never seen them. There is an elevator, but I don't know who's up on the second or third floor, but she's on the first floor. In the short time, she's been there, everybody has been very lovely, kind and attentive. I'd say, for the most part, some more than others, of course, but I feel like she's well cared for. They can improve in their response time though. She has her own kind of studio apartment, but it's a small studio. It has a full bathroom in there and then a little kitchenette. It has a refrigerator and some cupboard space. We put a microwave in there. There's like some sort of an exercise group in the morning and then they have trivia. They have movie nights. In the room where they eat, which I guess is the biggest room there, they have activities in there. I know they had some sort of speaker and like some sort of video, they were showing to their residents. She hasn't started yet, but she'll be getting physical therapy soon. The dining room is spacious, it looks like tables of four, although some people had put them together so they could be more sociable. It's very, very clean, and it smells clean, there is no strange odor. We were surprised because we had looked at four other places, and I believe the other four places were a little bit more expensive. This seemed to be somewhat more reasonable. It's worth the money. She seems to be doing well and she appears to be very happy there."

"Taylor and Jackie Assisted Living was a little small, but everything looked nice. It was the first time I've been in assisted living, so I didn't have anything else to compare it against. The staff was very friendly. She took the time to explain everything they did and gave us an opportunity to go upstairs and check the rooms. It was nice and clean. I didn't see anything wrong with it. It's a good location. It's near Sinai, and if you had to go to Northwest, it still wouldn't be too far away."

"My brother is in a unique situation. He had a debilitating stroke when he was younger, now at only 55, his health was in decline and he needed assisted living. The staff at Viva are so vibrant and joyful. They've treated my brother with so much respect and encouragement. They want him to get better in hopes that he may regain some independence - and it's working! They won't let him quit. This level of care goes beyond what is simply required. "When I first drove up to the nursing home, I was not impressed with the architecture and the deplorable conditions of the outside. As soon as I went inside the door to the facility I was greeted by am older woman who asked whom I wanted to see. The inside living conditions weren't much better than the outside looked, and I was not very happy about that. Though I did not like the appearance of the building, I found that the staff was extremely friendly with my grandfather and tried to talk with him as much as possible. He was not always the nicest person, but I know he appreciated the company of the nurses. He would always ask them to get him a beer, and the nurse would bring him a soda which he thought was beer. In the end, I found that this place gave a bad impression from the outside, but had a nice group of people working for them. "

"My dad is at Dulaney Valley Assisted Living at Hunt Valley. The number one reason why we chose it was because it was affordable. My dad had no insurance whatsoever, and he had a very small 401k. The second reason we chose it was that they will accept Medicare after his money runs out, so he won't have to be moved to another facility, which is very difficult to find here in Maryland. They've been very helpful. We haven't been there because they said to give my dad time to settle in, but they've given us a call every other day to give us an update on how he's doing. It seems like they are very patient with dementia patients. All the staff there are trained to work specifically with dementia patients. The staff are very caring and very informative. Any questions that we have, they're able to answer them for us, and reassure us that he's doing well, he is assimilating, and he is talking with the other residents, which he didn't do here at home. It is not a huge facility. It is basically a colonial home with eight bedrooms, and they have up to 13 people. The staff just takes care of them, so it's like a homey type feel to the place. They have a physical therapist that comes in and works with all the patients, they have an on-staff doctor that is there, and they have a nurse that is there for giving out medications. They said they had activities. Other than the physical therapist, they have another kind of therapist that comes in and sort of gets them back into their regular lifestyle of moving, living, and making sure they can do certain things. They have outside soft deck furniture, they have a sunroom, and then they have a huge backyard for walking around."
