"My sister moved into Aventura at the Heights. It's an old house that has been refurbished, there's a lovely lobby/sitting area that leads into the dining room. She's fortunate because her room is right across from there on the first floor, so she doesn't have very far to go. I heard that there are two other floors, but I've never seen them. There is an elevator, but I don't know who's up on the second or third floor, but she's on the first floor. In the short time, she's been there, everybody has been very lovely, kind and attentive. I'd say, for the most part, some more than others, of course, but I feel like she's well cared for. They can improve in their response time though. She has her own kind of studio apartment, but it's a small studio. It has a full bathroom in there and then a little kitchenette. It has a refrigerator and some cupboard space. We put a microwave in there. There's like some sort of an exercise group in the morning and then they have trivia. They have movie nights. In the room where they eat, which I guess is the biggest room there, they have activities in there. I know they had some sort of speaker and like some sort of video, they were showing to their residents. She hasn't started yet, but she'll be getting physical therapy soon. The dining room is spacious, it looks like tables of four, although some people had put them together so they could be more sociable. It's very, very clean, and it smells clean, there is no strange odor. We were surprised because we had looked at four other places, and I believe the other four places were a little bit more expensive. This seemed to be somewhat more reasonable. It's worth the money. She seems to be doing well and she appears to be very happy there."

"When looking for a place for my dad about 8 years ago, we didn't look further once we'd found Elternhaus. And we were never disappointed over the 6 years he was there and when it was time for my mom to move to a care facility, it was a no-brainer -- Elternhaus was again our first and only choice. Good people who are involved with all aspects of care, kind, responsive and helpful. As to the facility itself, there are fancier places, but nowhere is cleaner or feels more like home."

"Edens Homes was flipping gorgeous. It was completely renovated beautifully inside. It was all new furniture. Every room had its own private en suite bathroom even though they were all shared bedrooms. They had the washer and dryer behind doors. The place was clean and it smelled good. The staff who gave us the tour was a little rushed. She wasn't there when we got there. The guy that was living at the house had to call her and tell her that we were there, but he didn't even stay downstairs to talk to us while we waited. "

"Since day one I have fallen in love with this place. This is by far the best assisted livings in Maryland. I’m so happy that I chose this assisted living for my father. Whenever I come to visit the facility is always clean, the staff is always nice, and my father is always happy. Whenever I take my dad out for a few days hes always so happy to return back to the staff. I highly recommend this facility. "

Our mission is to provide our residents with the highest level of care, unique to each individual's needs. To ensure the needs of our residents we have an on-call nurse practitioner. Our staff participate in monthly training given by the nurse practitioner to ensure resident comfort and care. In addition to our janitorial staff, Open Hand's uses germicidal lamps to sterilize our facility, to combat germs. The meals at Open Hand's are made in-house to perfection, with nutrition in mind. "I've toured Cadence Living Olney. It was nice and lovely, but it was a couple of thousand a month that I was willing to do. All of them are expensive, but Cadence was nice because it was brand new, so they had everything you needed in the same kind of situation. But I wasn't as happy with the companion suites as the other place, they didn't have actual separate bedrooms. They had a half wall that came three-quarters of the way down, but it didn't go all the way. So you weren't alone if you wanted to be, and there was no door to close. That's the only thing I didn't like about them. The staff members were very personable, and the one who gave the tour was very nice. She was very, very nice and knew her job very well, and took us for a whole complete tour of everything that we needed to see. Their dining area was nice. When we went people were sitting down and eating, and they had helpers to feed them, so it was good. They have a separate room for watching the television, they have a separate room for exercising, they have one room where there's a big screen TV and you can do activities like online bowling and online stuff like that. So it was kind of interesting. You can exercise with the TV and it was a very nice setup. I would have gone there in a million years if it wasn't so expensive, but it was just a little too pricey. It was so brand new and everything was perfectly clean, you could still smell the paint."

"Merritt Station II Senior Apartments rejected me. They looked at my pay and said, "You're making too much." I said I'm about to retire. I wanted to go to Merritt Station II, and I found it nice. I went to their open house. They showed me two different-sized one-bedrooms. I liked the location. It's not too far from stores that I can shop at. It was nice and quiet. The staff was nice. It was very clean. It seems like a new building. The size of the rooms is smaller than what I've been living in."

"I like that Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living caters to individuals who live there. I'm a football freak, and they said, 'We don't have a football group, but I'm sure that a lot of people would be interested in joining it if you wanted to start this kind of thing.' They have raised gardens that are waist-high. They had some people who had no idea how to do gardening, so they teamed them up with those who knew. We had had a huge snowstorm; however, the person who was supposed to do their snow plowing didn't show up. So Wilshire Estates went out, including the owners, and shoveled sidewalks so that people could drive in without issues. That impressed me. They not only cared for the people who live there, but they also cared for their employees. They provide everything. The only thing I would have to do is pay for my own phone and wash my clothes. If you can't wash your clothes, they have people that will do it for you. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch is the biggest meal, and at dinnertime, they usually have sandwiches or something light. I seemed to connect with the person who was selling the place. Even though it was expensive, I was impressed. The unit that I was looking at had just been vacated. The staff said they would clean everything from top to bottom, and when they become available, they would do upgrades, too."

"I like Victory Crossing Senior Apartments. It seems to be a pretty well-kept building, but they don't have any openings. It's gorgeous. It's a newer facility. It's very nice, modern and updated. I love the apartment because it has wood flooring throughout except the bedroom that has carpeting. They also have a stackable washer and dryer in the bathroom. It's modern and cute. It's upgraded and well-kept. It's a nice building. There's a patio at the back with nice seating. They even have a dog park or something. I could sit out there. There are a couple of benches. They have a community room where you can rent out and it was large enough. They have a nice large kitchen where you can bring food and there's a nice seating area. They have a fitness center and a library. There's a small conference room if you want to have another meeting. It was pretty well-lit. The lighting was nice and well-kept. It is upgraded and clean and it looks fresh. The furniture looked decent and not old. The staff who toured me around was a sweet lady. She was very nice and always smiling. I would like to be able to get in there. It would make me happy as a senior."

"I toured Victory Haven Senior Apartments and it's a very nice place. It's very clean and nice. The staff was very courteous and had the information that I needed. They have an exercise room and an activity room. It was nice. I did not see the bedroom because they didn't have any empty apartments for me to see. They have a garden and a dining area. The place is near some shopping centers, and I think a restaurant is around there, too."
