"We have friends at The Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant. It's very nice, but it has a very long waiting list, and it's also very expensive. They seem very content and happy. Three of them I've known from my church for years, actually. I didn't get to the room. We were there for dinner, and it was delicious. They have problems with parking. They needed a lot more, I guess, but we had a handicapped sticker, so we were OK. The staff was very polite, very nice, and very accommodating."

"04/16/2021 Summit Park Health and Rehab Staff Thank you for the praiseworthy weekly updates on Covid-19. My sister Angela and I never worried about our brother, who has Parkinson's disease. I congratulate you [Mr. Willis] and staff for the excellent job all of you have done to prevent the spread of a deadly virus. I applaud staff, too, who received additional training that surely benefited residents, including my brother who has been in long term care for a year and a half. Lives were saved. Thank you. Summit Park was an example early-on in the pandemic of what a nursing/ long term care facility can do to save lives of an at risk population. Last year I tried to get a citation for Summit Park from the Governor's office for your exemplary care of residents during the pandemic. Job well done. Best wishes, Carolyn Carey "

"My brother was there about 2 months ago on A wing all the staff that worked with him were very polite. I felt like he was in a good place just because the unit manager Yolanda felt like she cared about my brother. I would recommend this place "

"My mom is at Forest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. It's a nursing home facility and we chose that because they have a memory care unit, which was our top priority. They seemed to be very welcoming. The staff is very nice, caring, and compassionate. Mom is in a shared room with two beds, two TVs (so both residents can watch what they want), and a Jack and Jill bathroom. They do lots of activities and things that interest my mom and keep everybody involved and socialized. There's bingo, music appreciation, and a nail/spa day where they paint the residents' nails and stuff. It's a little outdated but it's clean."

"We went to see Autumn Lake Healthcare at Cherry Lane, it's a nursing home in Laurel. It was a very big facility so they had 300 people with different levels of care. They have medical personnel on-site, doctors and nurses, who visit the patients on a regular basis. They take temperatures, and blood pressure daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. They do medication supervision so that each person gets the proper amount of medication. They have nurses who change the bed and change the client's clothes. They do a lot more for the clients. The food is given on a regular basis at 8:00 am, 12:00 noon, and 5:00 pm. It's well-run. They have a good recreation program Monday through Friday. The facility is clean too. They also take the clients to different places."

"My mother was admitted to Patuxent following a brief stay in the hospital. She was admitted for wound care because the facility where she has resided for the previous three years, was unable to provide the required care. When we visited Patuxent to see mother, we were overjoyed with the attention and care she had been given. The staff at Patuxent were friendly, caring, and best of all, responsive to our requests for information. My mother showed improvement in her condition. She was clean, groomed, and well cared for. I highly recommend Patuxent."

"I couldn’t see anything wrong with ManorCare. Everything seemed nice, well run, and well kept. I liked the friendliness of the staff. "

"My mom has been there a little over two years. I would visit two to three times a week and talk to her clean up her nightstand and making sure she had her goodies. I would change out her seasonal clothes if needed. When the shut down happened because of COVID 19 I was devastated not being able to see her. I was put in touch with Sharda and Jackie the Activities Department, she was so nice and positive. Helping me work thru my anxiety by not being able to visit my mom, But facetiming my mom caught on quickly, Sharda was so nice, I would schedule times and she would sit with my mom and we talk about bingo, trivia and other games they had played. She kept me up to date on her snack needs also. Thank you. I would also like to comment about housekeeping. I have a several occasions asked for something for my mom. And on the times it was the same person Tresha She not only got the items for me and with a smile and a yes mam and then picked other stuff up off the floor. Such an incredible worker. Thank you To the new Administer Mr. Johnson fantastic job kudos. Thank you. Ms. Sara the best receptionist most knowledgeable person to meet. She is polite, sweat , nice, professional great asset. Thank you. Thank you at all the wonderful nurses I am horrible with names but you all are the front end. when I call that I am taking my mom to an appointment she's ready, that's so important to be on time. My mom has only said nice things about all of you. Thank you. To everyone Thank you I cant say it enough. "

"St. Martin's home is wonderful. They're very attentive and very caring. The staff was wonderful and that's just terrific with residents. There are nuns there who are big part of it. I just love everything about it. It's in a very nice area, very peaceful, and beautiful. "

"My mother was in Charlestown Care Center for rehab. She was on 24-hour watch because she just had a stroke, and they took good care of her. The place was well kept, and the people I talked to seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. The staff members were very friendly, the therapist was genuinely concerned, and the social worker was really good and understanding. The place was clean and didn't have an odor. They had good activities and church service. The cost was pricey, and my mom wouldn't have been able to afford it if not for her insurance."

"Frederick Villa Nursing has a very kind atmosphere. But, depending on the stations patients were set in, it defined the state in which their situation continued. I remember the third station, farthest from the entrance, had residents with a very lackadaisical idea of the workplace. I came to them for a friend who had, had an allergic reaction(minor of course) and they just stared without a response. I put a random complaint in when I heard a few of the residents in this station discussing an accident where a patient fell. This caused the patient to have to redo most of their rehabilitating courses all over again. The resident responsible was apparently just "vacant and looking everywhere but the patient in need".On the other hand, the first station closest to the entrance had impeccable residents who worked swiftly and efficiently. These were the residents we went to whenever we had a question needing an answer or an avenue for quick information to continue our work. It never smelled unclean and the residents did their best to help everyone. And usually succeeded.And the people in charge of laundry always did their job well. Maybe a few would lag behind but there always someone to make up for any leftover or uncleanliness without fail. They were very dependable people. Nice to speak with on downtime as well. Sometimes, in their free shifts would help out the residents and in communications between the residents, the kitchen, and even guests visiting their family members. "

"My brother is a resident at Future Care Irvington for over one year. When deciding on a place to have my brother cared for, I was impressed early on by the responsiveness of staff to my brother, who needed extensive Pulmonary care. Whereas in one place we visited the facility was not equipped to adequately care for him; at Future Care Irvington the staff engaged directly with my brother. I congratulate and thank the management, nurses and caretakers on the environment they create and the services they provide. I also appreciated the communications and support to his family, including me and my aunt, who lives nearby. Over time, the staff learned my brother’s needs and his singular habits and was able to support him with kindness, care, and patience. Among the staff, I would like to recognize the entire therapy department Julianne-Speech Therapy, Victoria, Mo, Alex, Theresa-PT/OT. The entire 1 North and 1 South Staff. Yelena, Tommy, Felix and the fantastic Respiratory Therapy team! Meera and Ann are always vital for dietary needs and concerns. The hardworking nursing staff- Robin, Moana and countless others. "My mother is in Friends House Retirement Community. It's a great place. She's in a recently remodeled building. It's a brand-new building. She is in independent living in her own apartment. She chose it herself. My family's nearby, so that was a big draw. She just really liked the vibe of it because it's kind of out in the country almost and it was affordable. The staff is great. We love them all. The maintenance staff is great. They had somebody come by and fix her thermostat recently. Her room has a small kitchenette. One feature I like is all the windows are really easy to open and close. I like it. It's three stories high, so there's kind of a community for each floor, and then there are common areas that they can gather and activities that they do quite a bit like a games day on Saturday and they have movies after dinner quite a bit. I like the dining area. Whenever I go out to visit, I always try and take at least one meal with her down there. It's pretty good. When it shut down for COVID or something like that, it's a bummer because that's a highlight of her day going down to the dining room and eating. They have a good menu. They have a front and back menu, and it changes. The one menu stays the same all the time. You can always get a hamburger, for example. The other menu changes every night. It might be lasagna or roast chicken or something like that, and salmon. They have a lot of fish, which is her favorite. There's a Harris Teeters maybe a five-minute Lyft ride away. That's where my brother always stops to get his groceries and Panera before he goes out. It's very clean."
