"Copper Ridge was what we wanted for my mother-in-law, but it is extremely expensive. They won't even take her because you have to have at least $300,000 in the bank before they accept you. On top of it all, they also charge you for laundry. They charge you for every little thing, but it's a gorgeous, beautiful place and the people were very kind. The food smelled wonderful, and they make beautiful gourmet meals. It's a wonderful place if you are rich."

I was able to see a couple of residences, and they were nicely laid out and user friendly. They had onsite medical staff, very nice eating facilities, and a very nice craft studio. The food was very good quality, with a nice assortment, and they had a variety of dining facilities where you can eat."

"My wife is in FutureCare Cherrrywood for rehab. They're good. We have friends who work there. They serve three meals. The staff is very professional and very caring. It's only a mile away, so I get to see her every day."

"I have my husband placed in Pleasant View Nursing Home. The care is very good, and I'm very pleased with it. It's an older nursing home. The residents and the staff are very nice. They have Bingo and music. He's a picky eater, but he is doing okay with the food. He's going up to the dining room to eat now whereas before he was sitting in his room. I would recommend them."

"My first impression of Genesis Healthcare was very good. The grounds and the facility itself were really good, appealing, and welcoming. The staff seemed very nice and knowledgeable. I really liked that they catered to people who had strokes, dementia, or disorders with the brain and handle activities with them like bingo, arts, or one-on-one games. The dining area looked nice. "This facility was the cleanest and neatest of several my friend lived in over the period of a year. This facility was cleaned with products that kept everything spotless while never smelling like a nursing home. The decor was low-key, easy to keep clean and remained very cheerful. It wasn't done up in a fake, fancy style, but was designed to look bright and clean. The staff was vigilant regarding residents' needs and moods. Residents who were truly unable to help themselves were never neglected and didn't have to beg with their eyes when they needed something. Those residents who could converse always had a chance to talk to staff. Unlike other facilities my family friend briefly occupied, our hearts didn't break every time we had to leave him in this nursing home. Nobody here was medicated into a stupor for staff convenience, people were called Dear or Sweetie because the staff couldn't be bothered to read their names on the door.A doctor or RN was available for questions and answers even over the weekends and on holidays, which is unheard of in most skilled nursing homes, and residents' comfort and peace of mind are considered the only was of giving complete care, not just something that is provided as time permits. Visitors are treated with respect and with thanks for helping to keep residents from feeling isolated and forgotten. This nursing home would be the average, in a utopia. "

"My mother is at FutureCare Courtland. We ended up going there. We're not pleased with the food. They're not very considerate to my mother's renal diet. However, the facility is very clean, and the doctors are very thorough, so it's a double-edged sword. They allow us to bring her food, so she is eating something that's fit for her. It's more of a rehab and dialysis center, but where she is now within the organization is more in rehabilitation. I have been very pleased with everyone with the exception of the culinary department. One of my mom's devices was literally taken from her room, so I'm trying to be more understanding if it was actually stolen or if they thought that it was their equipment, so I don't know. That was a one-off incident. Other than the food and that one-off incident, everyone has been wonderful. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to go into the facility personally because of COVID, but my mother is comfortable with its cleanliness."

"My mom lived in Envoy of Pikesville. I've learned that you get what you pay for. Envoy of Pikesville is more of a recovery center than some place that you would leave a person for an extended period of time. They had a poorly managed staff. They changed hands three times since 2015. The place often smelled. Oftentimes someone defecated or urinated on the floor, and it was left there for way longer than it should have been. The people were neglected quite often too. Many times would walk down the hall and the residents would be screaming for help. The dining set-up was nice. The atmosphere was acceptable. I've eaten with my mother there a couple of times and the food was acceptable. They catered to specific needs. The activities were minimal. They tried, but they were not enough."

"Maryland Masonic Homes is very nice. They got nice stuff there, and it is very fine. It is for my mother, and she seems satisfied with the food. They have old people stuff like bingo and other activities. It is fairly recent, so I don't know a whole lot about it. She's been there for a month. I don’t really know the security, but there is a guard at the front desk, and that is all I know. "
