"AlfredHouse looked like a nice place, but they didn't offer apartment-sized rooms for my mother. They were a little short on amenities. There was a common room that was kind of a multipurpose room. I was a little disappointed with that, too. It appeared that the care was good. However, the lack of activities would be the reason I wouldn't give them a 5."

"The one I would consider for my aunt is the Brookdale. It is attractive, and well-maintained. They have friendly, and knowledgeable staff. The rooms were nice, and comfortable. There was a variety of activities. Brookdale is a bigger community compared to the other one. However, I think the bigger the community, the harder it is to maintain the same kind of personal attention; so, I feel that it is a little bit more institutional. "

"I visited a friend here, and her room was very inviting. I also had a meal there with her, and the food was excellent. Overall, the place was inviting."

"AlfredHouse has nine facilities, but my mom is going to be in a home with eight people as opposed to a big facility. This one is very nice, and just very perfect for her needs. Some people may need larger facilities with big TVs, big dining rooms, and things like that, but my mom has Alzheimer's, so I wasn't interested in paying all that money for the extra bells and whistles that she can't use. It's five minutes from my home, so that makes a big difference, because I visit a lot. The facility is small, it's not a big one, so the ratios are much better. It's like one person to four, and they only have eight people in the house. They have large homes, but I like that one because it is smaller, it's good one-on-one care. It's beautiful, it's a home that has a huge sunroom, it has a TV room, individual bedrooms, both single and double, and it's in a neighborhood. It's a cul-de-sac, and it's in the neighborhood, so you can go out walking and feel safe. It's a beautiful home. The staff is very friendly, and very caring to the patients that were there. Basically, it's a family-owned business, so a lot of the people who worked there were related to the owner, the original owner. I know that people come in and do exercise, music therapy, and memory therapy."

"The staff at the house made it an inviting place to stay and the care my mother received was excellent. She was cared for with great expertise and her stay was a vast improvement from the care and support she had received during her stay at an institution assisted living in our neighborhood. They supported her up to her final transition to Hospice and I still to this day check in on them, refer them to others and consider them family."

"The staff at Grace House was lovely during our tour, and it was a pretty nice facility. But it just didn't seem as vibrant as I was hoping. The rooms were ok, they were fairly decent in size but there wasn't a lot to choose from. They had a whole day's schedule when we were there. The residents were participating in some sort of game and some of them seemed to be engaged in some of them. The hallways were a little bit dark and not as bright as I had hoped they would be. They had a salon and a chapel."

"I toured this home Its very immaculaty clean, residents looked happy and engaged in activities.. Owner is a RN and was very knowledgeable, warm and welcoming. References from current family members was praises of the owner of the great care and programming that they provide. Unfortunately my mother passed away a week before her move in.. "

"I thought it was very nice. It seemed very neat and clean. The employees and the residents seemed engaged. They looked like they were involved in the activities. The food smelled good in the cafeteria. It seemed like a pleasant place for people to be in. The rooms were not really big, but they were decent. I was pretty impressed with it. "

"The home was beautiful and much more spacious than I expected, with private bedrooms and even a PT room. The views were gorgeous, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. During my visit, residents were enjoying a book club, which gave the place such a warm and engaging atmosphere."

"I have moved into Goddard Comfort Homes. They have been very great. They have been good with everything. They've delivered everything they've said. The owners are very responsive. If you have any concerns or questions, they listen and act on it. The place is very nice. It's very small. They can only handle five people, so it's like living at home with a built-in cook, maid, and laundry person. My biggest concern was that if they have a doctor that I could reach easily if I got sick during the night or any time during the day, and they have someone on duty 24-hours a day. That's my main driving force. The place is clean. If I have ideas or suggestions, they'll listen to them. We're off to a great start. The staff is very good. The food has been good, too. I told them what kind of pasta sauce I want, and I think they're going to buy it. The facility has no steps and no elevators. It's very spacious, warm, and welcoming. I have my own carport for parking my car, which is an unexpected plus. I think their prices are extremely reasonable."

"We toured Miracle Manor Assisted Living for my wife. The building of the house is kind of rundown. I would say it's ancient. When we were there, there was a van with some workers, and they were working on something over there. The owner, though, was very nice and very helpful. However, it's too far. The room is moderate. They have a TV. They also have a living room for all of them. There are moving chairs on the rail for the stairs, that go up and down. Other than that, there's nothing else."

"I've toured Cadence Living Olney. It was nice and lovely, but it was a couple of thousand a month that I was willing to do. All of them are expensive, but Cadence was nice because it was brand new, so they had everything you needed in the same kind of situation. But I wasn't as happy with the companion suites as the other place, they didn't have actual separate bedrooms. They had a half wall that came three-quarters of the way down, but it didn't go all the way. So you weren't alone if you wanted to be, and there was no door to close. That's the only thing I didn't like about them. The staff members were very personable, and the one who gave the tour was very nice. She was very, very nice and knew her job very well, and took us for a whole complete tour of everything that we needed to see. Their dining area was nice. When we went people were sitting down and eating, and they had helpers to feed them, so it was good. They have a separate room for watching the television, they have a separate room for exercising, they have one room where there's a big screen TV and you can do activities like online bowling and online stuff like that. So it was kind of interesting. You can exercise with the TV and it was a very nice setup. I would have gone there in a million years if it wasn't so expensive, but it was just a little too pricey. It was so brand new and everything was perfectly clean, you could still smell the paint."
