"I called this agency on a Saturday morning not knowing if they were going to be closed. Someone answered the phone. I asked if that was an answering service and the person said she was a staff member of Options and she was on duty to handle after hours calls. The other 3 agencies I had called either did not answer or I was routed to an answering service that could only take a message, Options was able to mobilize relatively quickly. They sent us a nurse to do the assessment and though they could not start on Monday, they were able to start on Tuesday with a very reliable caregiver."

"We have been using Family & Nursing Care, Inc. Silver Spring, MD since my mother-in-law got out of rehab. For the most part, they have been really helpful. They're incredibly expensive. It's like $29 an hour, and when you're paying for 24 hours of care, it gets expensive really fast. There's a rotating set of people, but they do 12-hour shifts to have fewer people walking in and out. They do like 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. They're helping my mother-in-law dress, bathe, and shower. They're also taking her to go down to meals, three meals a day, when she will agree to it. They are trying to get her to activities, too. They often will take her down to the library. Most of them have listened to some of our extra directions, so for the most part, they were pretty good."

"I am a client of AG Healthcare Inc. Initially it wasn't too good, the problem that they were having was finding someone, but the assistant director was coming in to serve as a healthcare aide until they did. They found one lady, and she was there for a short time, and she was good. Now we have someone who is coming regularly , and she's also good. My mothe likes her, which is important. They help a bit with washing clothes, bathing her, helping her in and out of the bathtub, helping her with anything else to do with toiletries, washing and styling her hair, putting moisturizer on her skin, and light cleaning. They've also offered to do meal preparation, but my mom is stubborn, she continues to fix her own meals. Anything that my mother needs, the health care aide is willing to do. She comes in three days a week for 3 hours a day. She is efficient and professional, and she seems to be very caring. Because I do the shopping for my mom, she'll leave notes for me saying, we're running low on laundry detergent, anything that will help her help my mother or anything my mother needs that she may not realize that she needs. I went to see what they had to say, what they could offer, and I liked what I heard. I stuck with them because I was really in a pinch and I needed to get someone as soon as possible."
