My sister is in Sunrise of Silver Spring. For this time in her life, she needed to have some activities and different things to do, and they have different things that she can do there. That was one reason why I chose that place. She's there for memory care. Her room is sunny, bright, and clean. It's adequate for what she needs. She has a bed. You had to bring your own TV, but that was fine. She has a place to hang clothes and a chest of drawers. She has the bathroom right outside the room, which is her bathroom. It's a very clean, very comfortable environment. They have doctors that take care of the patients also and I like that because my sister was having some swelling in her legs that needed some attention. They can refer her to different doctors. The staff is very warm and accommodating. The food was good. You can pick certain things that you want to eat. I haven't observed all of the activities, but I know that they have different kinds of patients there. They told me that my sister would have a different schedule than other people, but they do have common activities for the patients who can go to them, like bingo. They have a lady that sponsors the activity program. They offer a lot of things, but they are really expensive, especially the food.

I went to Sunrise of Silver Spring and I met Lamar and the manager. It was a lovely facility and the people seemed happy. I was there while they had an activity going on and they had lots of participants, so I found that impressive. The only thing that was a challenge for me is the cost. It exceeded what is available to cover my mom's services. I saw a single and a shared space, and I thought they were both impressive. I saw the residents having lunch while I was there, as well as having finished a religious service. I was pleased to see those activities going on. The dining area was an open space and it looked as if people could choose where they sat, as opposed to being assigned spaces. There were groups of people, and tables with a few people, and I saw one table where there was one individual, but everybody looked content. The person at the front desk was very pleasant. I walked in and they had a welcome sign. They said they were expecting me, so they were welcoming me. I met the director. They were very pleasant and informative. I was impressed. However, it wasn't something that I could consider because it was well above affordability.

Sunrise of Silver Spring is very impressive and it's the most convenient to our home. It's literally a block away, so that's what I'm leaning toward just from the proximity standpoint. I didn't have a whole lot of interaction with the staff, but the people that I did have been very, very fine. I got there right in the middle of lunch, so there was no activity happening. The dining area was clean and organized and it looked like everybody was enjoying the food. The layout of the apartment was great and it's spacious, much more than I expected to see. This is a nice accommodation for anyone. We are seeing signs that mom is suffering from early-onset dementia, but we need to get it officially diagnosed by a medical professional. I mentioned that during my tour, and they explained to me that that would be a duty for the second-floor memory care, which is great. It has an environment to help support people in that situation. We didn't get to go explore the memory care unit, but the staff explained it all to me. I saw the activities room, the different floors, the different types of rooms, the accommodations, the dining hall, and the outside where they have their barbecues during the summer. I think it's fabulous that they are a pet-friendly community. They have a house dog and two house cats. The dog is with the patients every day. It's really beautiful because we're big pet people. There was nothing I can say short of perfect from that experience.

Sunrise of Silver Spring is a smaller community. I found that the staff and the residents are really welcoming and very friendly. We really needed to make a quick transition for my mom from a rehab facility to an assisted living environment, and they were really great to work with. They have various activities every day and they publish a monthly calendar of all their activities. My mom is wheelchair bound, so they are very good about assisting her in getting her to the different activities that go on. The food is good. My mom definitely has enjoyed the different options that they have, so the meals worked out really well. She is in, what they call, a Denver suite. It's nice and spacious. They have a nice little kitchenette area with a refrigerator, and the bathroom has a really nice handicap walk-in shower. So, I think it is well equipped and well suited for her needs.

My brother has moved into Sunrise of Silver Spring. It is very pleasant. It is kind of a nice hotel. It's like an inn, and the staff was very friendly. My brother has just moved in this morning. Today, the food looked pretty good. He said he liked it, so the food was good. The place is very clean. They have programs for activities. It's all self-pay, and they don't accept any kind of Medicaid or anything. They have refrigerators available in the apartments, but everything else you have to furnish. They have porches, patios, and courtyards. They have an outdoor pool with chairs and tables with umbrellas. They have rocking chairs on the front porches.

During the tour at Sunrise of Silver Spring I liked the hospitality and how they welcomed me. They make you feel comfortable. They showed me a room. It was clean. It was essential. Everything is right within reach. Everything was very well placed. The staff was great. They have a courtyard but I didn't see a pool. They have a movie room and an exercise room. They have a doctor onsite. Somebody would come every day for exercise activity.

Sunrise of Silver Spring was very nice, but the rooms were a little small. My wife had a lot of things wrong with her, which requires her to have quite a bit of stuff around her, and I thought the rooms were quite small for that. They had a recreation room and a very nice dining facility. The staff was very nice. It looked very well organized. The people I saw there seemed to be very content.

My experience with Sunrise of Silver Spring was up and down. I didn’t like the fact that they didn't share with me or my mother the care plan that's supposed to be shared with the family if they're going to give her additional care. They raised the price without informing us except through a letter. They did not conduct a meeting with me or my mom to discuss her level of care needs, and the price went up unexpectedly, so I had to try to make other financial arrangements. They did say that the general maintenance price would go up in a year, but she hadn't even been there for a year, and the price started going up on her level of care. The facility had well-kept grounds. Some of the caretakers were lackadaisical with their duties. When my mother was sick, she pulled the cord but they didn’t come in 15 to 20 minutes, and when they came, they didn't seem to try to assist her with her sickness but rather said it can wait until the next day. They said they were doing things for my mom, but in actuality, they were not. I had to come in and make up the bed, make sure the trash was taken out, and watch over her generally to make sure she was being cared for appropriately. They should sit down and talk to the family first, not just suddenly raise the price.

We visited Sunrise of Silver Spring for my aunt. The staff was very professional, warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The facility was very attractive, comfortable, and well cared for. The residents seemed engaged, and happy. The facility looked really nice. The rooms were nice too. They have different sizes, and different floorplans. Even the smallest ones seemed comfortable, and well-maintained. They seemed to have physical exercise, entertainment, music, and activities; like crafts, and games. They have excursions, e.g., where they go to the store or take them out to a concert. They have a variety of activities.

The inside of Sunrise is designed to not look like a facility at all. It looks like a living room and all the nurses’ stations has furniture, so it doesn’t look like you’re in a facility when they’re taking care of you. I’ve seen their dining area, and they seemed very up to speed on nutrition for geriatric population. They take them out on field trips on a bus to go look at the turning leaves, see the winter lights, and see monuments.

My experience with Sunrise of Silver Spring has been very good. I'm very pleased and I hope that it continues. I could not ask for more. I chose them because it's a smaller community and it is well located for the family. The staff is very open, accommodating, and helpful. The food is good. My aunt is very picky, but she is very happy with it.

We went to Sunrise. I liked it; it was a great tour. The people were really nice; the rooms were fine. They have so many staff members that had been there for years and years. I thought it was a great facility if price wasn’t an issue.

I went to Sunrise. A very pleasant visit. The ladies were very accommodating, very nice. It's just not affordable. The whole atmosphere was very inviting, just watching the other clients that were there. The residents were coming in on a bus from someplace. Everybody seemed to be somewhat interactive. They were seemingly happy, and it had a very good smell in there. I think the rooms were more than spacious. It was just like a home.

I thought Sunrise Silver Spring was very nice. The furniture was very nice. But the area doesn't have the type of people that I feel that my husband would be comfortable with. It was very nice as far as the facility itself.

Sunrise was good; however, it was farther away and significantly more expensive than where my mother is. The food was good. The dining room was the same hotel-type setup. The room seemed just as good as the ones at the other facility, except they had pull strings in the bathroom and the bedroom. However, as far as the safety features, I thought that they wasn't as good as what she has at the other facility.

Sunrise was very clean and very orderly. The staff was very professional, nice, and helpful. The dining room was clean and very nice. The rooms were a bit condensed and were a bit too small. What I didn’t like about it is when you have to go to the facility and it’s raining, especially in the snow and icy rain, it’s kind of in a dangerous spot. You can have animals or pets there, and there was no odor.

I think everything was excellent at Sunrise of Silver Spring. It’s a big facility. It seemed to be clean. There are lots of places to sit; you can sit outside or at the back. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms looked like what my sister needs. It was a very roomy place. We also went to the floor where people have dementia. The people there were just sort of looking around. That's because of their illness. The other floor looked like they were active. They were pretty friendly. Some of the residents spoke to me. One of the ladies said she organizes the bingo.

Sunrise was perfect and my parents lived there before they passed away. They're very caring and affectionate towards the patients and they take excellent care of them. Of course it's very expensive. They were new and creative, every day there are options for two different dishes at each meal. They were served on linen tablecloths with linen napkins, it was lovely.

I went with my father to Sunrise. It was the nicest. It's more appropriate and it's lovely. We had lunch there. They showed us different apartments. It's very nice. They have all kinds of activities to do. They also have a library. So far it's the best thing that I've seen, and price-wise too. The staff was very helpful, cheerful, and very accommodating.

It was a high-class and a very comfortable looking place. It had two or three meals a day. It had buildings with around seven floors. The lady that took us around was very nice. They had some interesting two-bedroom apartment with a patio. However, they were very expensive.

Sunrise of Silver Spring is only 15 minutes away from us. It's built like a mansion. It does not look like an institution at all. You walk into the lobby and there's a concierge there to greet you. They have rooms on either side of main hallway for socializing. My father was able to get a suite of three rooms. He's being treated very kindly and they're very attentive to him. It's a very comfortable, homey environment and it does not at all give the appearance of an institution. The dining room is served restaurant style. He has a menu to choose from when he wants to eat, and snacks are available, too. They also provide entertainment, although he doesn't partake much because he prefers to be by himself. The facility is almost luxurious. However, he has some hearing problems, so he sometimes misunderstand what people say, even me. Most of the care managers are non-native English speakers, so the accent makes it difficult for him.
