"I toured Hillside Senior Apartments, which is wonderful. They have apartments available, but they are very tiny. I really liked that development because utilities are included. It was just too small. I couldn't even imagine putting a dining room table in the area. It was really nice that utilities were included. It was only $30 a month for my pets, but they didn't have a washer and dryer in the units. It was just a laundry room. They have a lot of the same amenities. They had somebody teaching an exercise class, and that ended. They're trying to redo it again. I guess re-sign the contract or something. At the moment, they're still working on getting things going. I didn't know how long that stuff would be, like events off campus. They didn't have any of that going on yet, but other than that, it was a really nice place. The staff member was very knowledgeable. She'd only been there like nine months, but she was excellent. She showed us some apartments and the same kind of stuff."

"I like Victory Court Senior Apartments. The place was lovely, very clean, and well situated in a secluded part of a very busy city. The very proximal position to lots of places within walking distance made it a great location. The downtown area of Rockville surrounds the facility. They have computer and printer room services. They have a living room with a fireplace and bookshelves. They have a great hall room with a very high 30-foot ceiling and balconies. That room exits into a beautiful round garden. I came into contact with the assistant property manager, and she was very helpful, informative, knowledgeable about the surrounding area and facility, and answered all my questions. It's a very new-looking building. The maintenance, grounds, parking, and everything else were very well cared for."

"I picked Sunrise because it was not huge. My sister doesn’t walk well, so I thought there wouldn’t be so much walking to get wherever she want to be. The staff is friendly, and the food is outstanding. There happened to be a two bedroom apartment and they have done quite a lot of things, there is a place here where there is a winer,y so they went for a wine tasting, they take them to mass in the morning on Sunday, they have ice cream parties, they had bingo every night, arts classes, and jewelry making. I think it’s a great place, and I would recommend it. "

"I toured the independent living community of Victory Crossing in Silver Spring. The assistant manager was very helpful with the tour. She pointed out a lot of things, and she called 30 minutes before my arrival to let me know about the waiting list and whether or not I wanted to come. I did because I was five minutes away, and because I would like to tour the building. They have a number of amenities, events, and things that they do with the residents to make their stay there much more comfortable, as far as getting them out once a week, and whether they're going shopping or whatever else is going on out. They didn't have a vacant apartment for us to view. We could only do the amenities that are there. They have a reading room. If someone is coming to do physical therapy with you, instead of having to use your apartment, where you may have limited space, they have a room on the first floor with a table and a balance board, and a couple of other little things in there, where you could do your physical therapy treatment. They do a once-a-month event where they have food brought in. They could function as a community to get to know others. They work very hard to do those types of events."

"The people at The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center were great. The place is great. It's just very expensive. The apartment size is average. It's very nice, clean, neat, and organized. The dining hall is very nice. The parking situation is excellent. They have a pool. Thirty meals are included with the monthly fee."

"I made a deposit at Modena Reserve at Kensington, and I'm on their waitlist. It's very nice. It's a little smaller without being too small. When I was there, everyone seemed to be very pleasant. I won't say everyone has a smile on their face, but I didn't see people who look disgruntled, which tells me that it's a relatively easy place. I like the way they have the place set up. I also like it being in Kensington, which has some interesting stuff close by. It's very close to where my friends are based. I met some people during the tour who lived there, and they all seemed quite friendly and just having a good day. They have some books that you can take to read. They have a good library in that sense, but it's more like a cart that is located in one of the public areas. There are some pretty recent books and some fairly vintage books, so it was a nice mix of titles. They have a small gym or an exercise room kind of place. One of the things that they have that is important to me is they have a salon onsite with both nails and hair, so I don't have to worry about finding a place other than there. They have a craft room, too. Most of the public areas are very open and very bright. They have a nice little viewing room that is set up like a theater."

"Elternhaus seemed like a very nice homey place for my wife's father. We had a little food there, and it was good. His room was nice, adequate, and pretty clean. It is sort of out in the middle of very large open areas. The building and the grounds were very well maintained. "

"The lady who took me around The Sanctuary, a Mount Jezreel Senior Housing Community, was very nice. I only went to one available apartment and it's not that big. I need a little bit more space than that. The atmosphere was good. The secure door and everything were good. The community was clean and well-kept. They had a library and a room you can rent out for events, like a birthday party, or something like that. I only saw one person, and she was very nice. The place was silent. There was no noise."

"My grandparents have been residents at Maplewood for about 13 years now and they couldn't be happier. The staff is always friendly, happy to help and they seem to genuinely care about the residents and their lives. The facility is well kept and always makes me feel welcome and comfortable when I come to visit. The main dining room is a nice place to dine when visiting however the food is not great. Seems bland and the dishes get repetitive. Overall I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who wants their loved ones to feel happy and comfortable at this stage in their lives. "

"I recently brought my uncle to tour this property and he loved it! He just sold his house and needed to move right away...as soon as he walked into the building, he felt like home! The staff was very friendly and the Leasing Director was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was able to be accommodated into a great 2 bedroom apt and looks forward to spending the rest of his days here. Would recommend this place to anybody who is looking to retire, especially because of it's beautiful location near shops and restaurants. I'm very happy for him and look forward to visiting. "

"My impression was very nice. They offer two meals, we had lunch there, and it was a very lovely tour. We liked all the amenities. They have 2-bedrooms with a living room and 2 bathrooms, some of them have a balcony and some do not. All the people we met were nice, and everything was good."

"Evergreens at Columbia Town Center was nice. They do not provide food. It's active living. They're senior apartments. They're beautiful. They're very spacious. They're a little pricy, but it's very secure. I think they host different events. It seems to be a very affable place. It's right across the street from the mall, so that's super convenient. There is a grocery store that's attached to the mall also. There are tons of restaurants around the Columbia Mall. I didn't see as many senior people like my aunt that have walkers and stuff like that. I saw a lot of active adults. I saw people who were leaving the gym, and I saw people who were dressed up and getting ready to go out. It's a place where 55-plus people go to live, but they want to be in something that I think is a little more exclusive. The facilities are very, very nice. Real estate around the mall is very expensive, so if you don't want to buy a house and have to pay a big mortgage, what they charge here for rent is probably better than what you would pay for a mortgage in the area. It can be like $2400 a month to $2800 a month. There's parking and it's right by the mall, so if you have a lifestyle like that where you want to be within walking distance of all the stuff you want to do and you have free parking, you're not paying a mortgage, but you're in proximity to everything that's there, that's probably a really good deal."
