"Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroad was very lovely. I was received by the staff extremely well. The gentleman who gave us the briefing and the tour was incredible. We saw people in the art studio working on art projects, we visited the gym and saw people working out, and we saw people dining. We got what we were looking for and had a very good sense of the facility. I was very impressed with the staff. They were very courteous and going about their jobs. The activities looked absolutely amazing. There were so many things to choose from and lots of people participating."

"We toured Vinson Hall Retirement Community. They have a lot to offer. The striking thing for us is they're the only place we've seen that has access to the outdoors from the unit. You have two doors, a hall entrance, and an outside entrance, and that's the thing that sets them apart. Other than that, they're very similar to all the rest. They have a nice workout room and a swimming pool. They have amenities and so on. They are not however walkable to a lot of places. That would be the only negative. We're looking at a two-bedroom-and-den. We're looking at the larger units. The staff who gave the tour was very good though. I tried a meal there, and it was excellent."

"I went to visit a friend in Goodwin House Alexandria. It was excellent and it's probably expensive. The room was fine, it was like it was luxurious, and it was very nice. It was excellent, it was very clean, beautifully maintained; it was a beautiful place. It was a huge complex, and I just got in and got out. I saw my friend in the nursing section, I walked through other parts of it, and it was beautiful."

"I am at Kensington Park and I think it's a satisfactory place. The food is good and I don't have any problems here. Everything is doing very well. I am very happy to where I am now. "

"Mom lived in Riderwood; you have to come up with a bond for the place and a monthly fee, but you get that back when you left. They had a 2-bedroom apartment, with a sunroom, a dining room, and a kitchen. They had a pretty good size walk-in closet, they had 2-bathrooms, and they had a washer and dryer in the apartment. "

"I'm on a waiting list at Collington A Kendal Affiliate. It has a 125-acre campus and I especially liked the floor plans of the apartments. It seemed much larger than other communities whose floor plans I had looked at. Each apartment has either a patio or an enclosed area. You don't feel like you're living in a hotel room. I was there twice for a meal and the food was excellent. It is a place which is transitional. Should I need assisted living, then that would be available. There was a swimming pool, all kinds of walking trails, and a chapel. There's a doctor who's available, and there's a doctor's office there should you need someone. You could just make an appointment. Parking was very good, too. The whole place was just lovely."

"Two weeks ago, I visited Greenspring in Springfield. It was obvious that it was made to be very helpful to senior citizens who were having difficulty in getting around and to provide a lot of assistance to these elders that needed assistance. I personally don't need assistance physically but I know there are a lot of people who depend on the community to provide help to them. A lot of people were using walkers to get around and the person I visited had a power wheelchair that he uses to get around. I was impressed by the number of restaurants, 6 in all I think, 4 deluxe restaurants and a bistro along with a fast-food facility. They had a swimming pool, arts and crafts center, and a pharmacy onsite. I was very impressed with the facilities that were provided to people who obviously were not able to get out and around.I was impressed with the services being provided to those that needed special assistance like food delivery to their apartments. People could get around traveling from one end of the facility to the other without going outdoors. It is a huge facility with 2,000 people with many apartments, it was pretty impressive in size and the services provided. It was large but it was easy to navigate and that impressed me."

"The Village at Rockville-A National Lutheran Community was very nice, but the room itself was just a room with a bathroom. So for the price, it just didn't seem adequate. Other than that, it's a beautiful, big facility with a very nice cafe. They had a worship chapel, different clubs, other rooms for the seniors to be entertained, and a library. The lady who gave the tour was very nice, very polite, and also helpful about giving suggestions that there may be some community or faith-based assistance with the cost as the price was quite high for us."

"Ingleside at King Farm felt very comfortable. The attention that they put to detail in meeting the needs of the residents is very clear. I felt that they strive to make sure that all the needs are taken care of, and the residents are taken care of. The rooms were very nice. When you move in, they'll redo the carpeting, they'll do the flooring, they'll paint, and if the kitchen needs upgrading, they'll do whatever needs to be done in the kitchen. They got everything but the kitchen sink. They have a gym, an indoor pool, and a hair salon. They have arts and crafts. They have a billiard room and a card room. For transportation, there are certain places that they would take you, too, like doctor's appointments."

"Brooke Grove was recommended by someone who had her husband there. I am very satisfied with this facility for my husband, and I certainly don’t want to take any chances. It's a family-oriented place, and you feel that you are not in an institution. The rooms are quite large. They are rated highly, and so I think they are pretty good. "

"My mother has lived there since January of 2015 and she absolutely loves it! We visit her there (and spend several nights in her apartment) about every 6 weeks. It's so nice that I'd like to live there in my senior years. It's like one big happy family there, with all the residents and staff being so friendly. They have lots of fun activities, outings and the food and service is outstanding. I love swimming in their 91 degree salt water pool. This place is so nice that it reminds me of being on a cruise ship. They have live entertainment often, movies in the theater room nightly, fun activities and outings. We thank God every night that my mother gets to live there. She knows she can live with us again anytime she wants, but honestly it's more fun for her there. The Woodlands drive her to her doctor appointments and wherever she wants to go, plus several of her friends there still have their cars and take her places with them. My mom has never been happier. "

"I moved to Asbury in November, 2021 and couldn't be happier with my choice. Having looked at other retirement communities in the area I chose Asbury for a number of reasons. It is a continuing care community and the campus if absolutely gorgeous! With paths around both ponds I get renewed being surrounded by nature it its seasonal glory. There are more than 120 species of birds, a certified habitat area, pollinator gardens - and I saw a fawn on my early morning walk this morning. It has been easy to make friends whether in exercise or brain health activities, educational classes, musical offerings, or just walking around campus. I love being able to take advantage of cultural activities in the greater DC area while still living in such a peaceful surrounding."

"My mom is doing great at Falcons Landing. She likes the place and the support she receives. They're wonderful. They're compassionate and caring. They go out of their way to care for her. The grounds are manicured and beautiful. Her room is spacious with a private bathroom. The dining room has a pleasant atmosphere and serves very good food. They also offer a variety of activities."

"Comfort Senior Care Facility was very nice. But I just didn't want to share with anybody. They already have somebody in there. Everything is on one floor. They have somebody there who cooks, cleans, and washes your clothes, but it wasn't for me. You had to take the shoes off because of COVID and wear a mask."
