"What I liked about Loving Care Assisted Living IV very much is that they had more than one nurse or attendant. With the other place, because it was out so far, it was a little unnerving that if there was a medical emergency or something, I don't know how they would get the residents, other than calling an ambulance, and how they would attend to everybody else. I liked it very much. In fact, I would choose this for my parents. It's in the middle of Havre de Grace. It's centrally located right in town. They had lots of places to walk. They said they take their residents out. There's a park close by. It's fairly clean. It was larger than the other place. They have a designated shower area, which is great, as opposed to just a bathroom. The other place had a tub where you had to sit on something and get into the tub for a shower. The staff was very bubbly. I love the way she joked around with the residents. They were all very happy and comfortable. She warned me ahead of time that a couple of residents, one in particular, would ask if they could go outside, and leave the building and it was cute. She was also very knowledgeable and informative. She knew about everything that was going on. In fact, they are getting ready to build an addition. Right now, they have rooms for two people sharing. The expansion that they're doing will make the rooms a little larger so they can accommodate a couple, which would be my mom and dad. They do activities, games, and things like that."

"I toured About That Life Assisted Living. I didn't go with anything else. I went because of the location and I liked the facility and it was very clean. The program, she ran it down to me, the things that my cousin would be doing, doctor's appointments, eating, taking his medication. If we want to put him out and he wants to go to daycare, he can. I chose that one because the lady was very professional and the house was nice."

"I visited Ideal Comfort Assisted Living and toured for assisted living. It's not a good facility. I would never take my father there. The rooms are too small, and there's no privacy. It's not set up for level 3 care, so my father wouldn't have 24-hour coverage. It's not handicap accessible, and the neighborhood is not that great as well, so it just wouldn't be a good fit for him. The person who gave the tour was nice enough. That wasn't the issue; the person was okay. The only suggestion I will make is that I think they need to break down the number of people who are in there, I think they need more privacy and more staff. I think they are understaffed if they're going to offer level 3 care."

"My husband stayed at Inspirations Memory Care of Lutherville for about a month. I was very pleased with it. They were very friendly, and they gave me any information I needed. When I would call them they would say, "Do you want to talk to him?" and they would take the phone right to him so I could speak with him. He seemed to have adjusted pretty well. His appetite was very poor, but I know they tried to fix him things he liked. The community was very small but very clean, and it seemed homey. It didn't seem like they were going into a facility. It was comfortable. I was not allowed to go inside because of COVID. The facilities are very adequate, too."

"I toured Dulaney Valley Assisted Living at Hunt Valley and liked that it was a house. I liked the nursing staff-to-patient ratio. I also liked how the rooms were clean and set up and how they addressed the fact that every patient was different because of their mental status. They were quite a little different, and it's not all cookie-cutter same thing for everyone. The head nurse there was very knowledgeable and informative. The place was very nice. I was in the bathroom, and in some locations, the pungent odor of urine was very predominant. You could not have that with this location."

"D & G Homecare I had one building where they had a couple of beds and it seemed really dark. The people that were there looked happy. I saw one room, and it was a bedroom. They said that sometimes they had two beds in there. The waiting area where they had the TV room had eight chairs for people to sit down, and that was pretty much all I saw there. The staff member who toured me was good, though."

"I have never seen another such residence as nice. As the visual surroundings of a place are very important to me, I fell in love immediately with your spacious, gracious lobby and the courtyard beyond. On the 3rd floor I loved the balcony space, creatively designed for safety and a chance to experience the outdoors while still inside. And the ample room size held space for many mementos. So many things are arranged to help the caregiver deal with the stresses of illness. There is a real sense of community at Symphony Manor. The special occasion days (crab feast, Holiday party, Thanksgiving, etc) and the music programs in the lobby give one something to look forward to. Important, too, was that the memory care residents were integrated with the assisted living for programs and events. The most important ingredient in the Symphony Manor mix was the dedication of the staff. The Executive Director and Health and Wellness Director were always accessible when questions arose. The waitresses who served in the dining room did so with class, as if we were ordering in a restaurant. The chef and facility personnel were friendly and accommodating. Most important of all, of course, were the nurses and aides who helped everyday. They were unfailingly kind and patient, helping the residents keep their dignity when they could no longer attend to their most basic needs without help. I did not realize how creative staff had to be when working with memory loss patients. And not to forget to give kudos to the memory care coordinator and the lifestyle and leisure director. Their wonderful zest and enthusiasm brightened the day of many a resident and family member. When we were feeling worn out and discouraged their bouncy energy perked one up. Who would ever have guessed that reading the ingredients for a recipe in the newspaper could generate memories and responses in the listeners? But it did. So thank you all. Everyone works for the common good and gives meaning to the days of these residents. "

"My brother is in a unique situation. He had a debilitating stroke when he was younger, now at only 55, his health was in decline and he needed assisted living. The staff at Viva are so vibrant and joyful. They've treated my brother with so much respect and encouragement. They want him to get better in hopes that he may regain some independence - and it's working! They won't let him quit. This level of care goes beyond what is simply required. "We toured Care Transitions. The nurse, I think his name was Ryan. He was nice. Everything was clear like all her needs would be met. He was able to answer all of our questions. The room was nice. She was looking into a private room. It's a good space, has a good-sized bathroom, and has a big TV. Things were generally clean. It is an old Baltimore home, so there are still stairs to get in and then there are stairs on the upper levels. So, if she wasn't going to be in the private room, she couldn't stay there because she couldn't do the stairs. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming."
