"We went to Rayland Acres Assisted Living. It was too close quarters, not enough privacy, and too many steps and obstacles for my husband, so we ruled that one out immediately. My husband has Alzheimer's, so he needs memory care. They were very, very nice to me. They gave me all the information I needed, and they gave us a very nice tour. They were very, very nice, and it was a very thorough tour. I saw every room."

"The tour we had of Milford Place was very nice. It just wasn't for us, but the place was lovely, and the lady there couldn't be nicer. My husband just felt that most of the clientele were much older than us. Almost everybody we saw was in wheelchairs, and we're not ready for that yet. Other than that, it was a beautiful place. It had lovely furniture, and the rooms were nice. It just wasn't a fit. It's an assisted living community, and we're not ready for assisted living yet. We can still do a lot of stuff on our own. The place was very attractive and had lots of flowers. It had parking, so people must park there. It had a beauty parlor and, I guess, a haircut place for men, as well. Everybody seemed to be enjoying their lunch, and the people we passed in the halls and came in contact with all seemed very happy. They did not seem down, depressed, or unhappy. They all seemed smiley. The head lady was wonderful, and the receptionist who checked us in was nice. A gentleman also came out from the kitchen with cupcakes and water for us. We met a very nice aide up by the rooms where we were looking, and he was lovely. We met the head of activities, and she was lovely, too. We looked into the dining room, and they showed us the menu of everything that we could eat. There was a menu for breakfast, and they had a lovely menu for lunch. They also had alternatives if you didn't want anything. They had a lovely dinner menu, but if you did not want what they were serving, you could always get a hot dog, a hamburger, or a sandwich. I don't know if I saw salads, but they had other things, and that's very nice. You could sit anywhere you wanted and with whoever you wanted to sit. There was no assigned seating, which was nice. You could move any way you wanted. If you want to eat alone with your husband, you could go to a two-seater. If you want to eat with five or more people, they have big tables, too. They had square tables, and they were very nicely done. For the meal times, I think they said breakfast started at 7:30 and it could go up to maybe 11:00. Then lunch started at 11:30 and it went to 1:00. Dinner started at 4:30, and then everybody is kind of finished by 6:00. I think it was very nice. You could have your own time to go in and eat. If you don't want to go down for breakfast at 7:30, which I wouldn't, you can go down later. Everybody seemed happy and the staff were very agreeable and seemed to be really nice people. The place was very clean, although a lot of stuff is being redone. It was really pleasant. It was modern and seemed up-to-date. However, instead of independent living, it was more of an assisted living where they probably bring you down for meals, or maybe an aide comes up to help you. They said there was a whole category for if you need help showering, going to the bathroom, dressing, and medication. Everything that was on that list was a no for us because we really didn't need any extra care. I thought maybe we just got into the wrong place by going to an assisted living facility instead of an independent living facility."

"I like the Harmony at Kent, but the problem is that it's a bit expensive for me. The place was very nice. The residents who I spoke to briefly were very nice, very friendly, and it was a great looking crowd. It's a beautiful, clean place. I was very impressed. The staff, Terrence, was just very knowledgeable and took the time to show me around. I appreciate meeting him, but it's just too expensive. They have a fitness center, but not many machines, but that part was at least OK."

"Brookdale Dover was very clean. It was a little bigger place. It had some minor drawbacks, like it's on a major thoroughfare. Other than that, it was topnotch. Their memory care section was enclosed within the facility. The people can do a lot of a variety of different things depending on their ability. The staff looked very dedicated to the residents, too. They were very nice and very professional."

"My parents have moved into Dover Place. The staff is very welcoming and very caring. They assess the individual's needs and provide care for that individual. The staff is the reason that it's such a great place. My parents really enjoy the food. They have lots of activities. They have bingo. They have craft classes. They have pet therapy. They have Wii bowling, which is hilarious. They have card games. They have jigsaw puzzles. They have story time. They bring in pastors from different churches. There are a ton of activities. They also have a few more choices in the apartment set-up. My parents moved into a two bedroom, and this place has two separate bedrooms."

"We like Arcadia of Denton II very much, but at this time, they don't have an opening. I like that it was homey. It seemed more like a home atmosphere than an institution. The staff was friendly. I like that they had big lounge chairs around, and everybody seemed content. It's small. There are not a thousand people there. It's just a small group. It had a lot of nice features. The staff who toured me was very nice. Everybody seemed comfortable there. There's no place for like physical therapy, but they have an outside garden, they have what they call a salon area, and they have a place where they could wash your hair and stuff. It was nice and very clean."

"I visited Arcadia of Denton. It's very clean outside. The lawns were done, the flower beds were nice, and the building was nice. The only thing I didn't like is they only had a few private rooms. The people were awesome, very knowledgeable, very friendly, and answered all my questions. They offered us some drinks. I did not check the menu, but they told me about it. It was still in Covid, so they were limited on what we could do. They watch movies. They have somebody come in and play music. They do crafts. The rooms were very clean and very taken care of."

"I was there for eight weeks recovering from a deadly bone infection. The medical staff were always right on top of my tests and progress, shared that information, and let me know next steps. The PT team was professional and helpful. I felt secure and supported while I recovered. Facility is nice and clean, and there was not a soul on staff, from the food ladies all the way up, who were not encouraging."

"I visited this facility while searching for a nursing home for my father. William Hill Manor, (WHM) is located on Dutchman's Lane in Easton, MD and was established in 1981. WHM is approximately 2 miles from Easton Memorial Hospital, giving me greater comfort in case of emergencies. On-site healthcare is available to residents in order to provide for my father's needs. William Hill has levels of care from assisted living to skilled nursing care, comprehensive to rehabilitation services. William Hill Manor is designed as a CCRC or continuing care residential residential community where cottages are scattered throughout William Hill's large campus like facility. William Hill is designed for individuals aged 60 and up with home maintinence, housekeeping, meals and lawn care provided. A nice feature of WHM is a large building containing many apartments which offer independent living features with the option to interact with those who are living close by. WHM has doctors and specialists with offices located around the perimeter of their grounds, making access to health care very convenient. The largest of the buildings or facilities on campus is called the Manor House which has an auditorium, sunroom, library, cocktail lounge and a living room. WHM offers fine dining with chef prepared four course meals. The food that is offered at WHM may be ordered from a cafe or prepared and served individually within apartments and cottages. Food is delivered to those residents who require this. The menus change with each season. This provides a community like appeal to residents. Monthly resident association meetings are held in order to keep the residents involved with their standard of living which is a comfort, knowing that my dad will have a voice with his living arrangement. Another nice aspect is the cottage space designed to allow couples to live together with some degree of privacy. Musical groups, exercise, painting and aquatics classes along with excursions to the theatre, concerts, movies, gallery exhibits and shopping are among the activities offered at WMH. Many of the rooms in the common area at WHM have a rustic, traditional flavor which seems to appeal to the residents of WMH. Another comforting trait that's offered is the 24 hour nursing care and the specialized rehabilitation services that are available to those who need them. The staff at WHM can be described as caring and compassionate. All of the staff at WHM is required to maintain their skills through an ongoing training process. Patient to staff ratio with assisted living is 1 staff member for every 8 residents. WHM appears to be conscious of state guidelines regarding having an adequate number of staff to care for the residents. "

"We would have gone to Candle Light Cove, except when you run out of your personal funds, they don't have anything for Medicaid. It was a very nice place. We toured both assisted living and memory care, and it was very homey, very pleasant, and very clean. The rooms were very nice. You could have shared rooms or you can have a private room. The lady who did the tour was wonderful. She was great. The dining room was nice and they had another dining area that looked like a snack bar. They didn't have a whole lot of activities, but they had a luncheon room and some of the residents were out there. The lady said that because of the COVID restrictions that were in place previously, they really hadn't gotten back to their normal way, as far as everybody being in a room together."

"When my grandfather fell and broke his hip I thought for sure that he would not get any help from the nursing home because of the stories you hear. I was also very skeptical of nursing homes because I have been in some that by walking in the door made me want to throw up. So I was very concerned if I was going to be able to come and see him without getting sick to my stomach. I also heard stories on TV where the staff would just leave patients and let them be subjected to getting bed sores because they were not being taken care of properly. But springily this place was very clean and the smells were very minimal. He stayed in there rehabilitation wing and i as very comfortable. Every time we went in the nurses would know who we were going to see. This is a very family orientated place. Although it did take some time for my grandfather to get better, his living conditions while he was staying there was great. "

"We have found Manor House for my mom. We've been there three different times in the last two years looking at it. We chose them because we live in the area, and she knows a lot of people there. That's the place she has been the most comfortable with and is considering going into. When we toured it, it was a very nice place, kept well, there's a lot of activities and a good atmosphere. Plus, she will be close to the rest of the family. The only downside I think it's a little bit pricier than others, but they offer a lot, too. Also, it's in the area that she would like to be and we would like her to be. The staff was very personable. I probably dealt with three or four different people over the time that we visited it. They seemed to care about their job. Just walking through the halls and seeing other residents, they're speaking to everybody by name. It feels like a little community when you're in there. Every time anybody leaves, they paint the apartment, they change the carpet, and they give you as a new tenant a chance to make some modifications. You've got to pay for that, but there's an opportunity if you want to customize something or change something. If you don't do anything, they're going to change the carpet, and they're going to change the flooring and paint everything of your choice of colors and stuff. From what I've seen, the units are well-kept because they're constantly being remodeled."

"BEST ASSISTED LIVING IN QAC! My dad has been here for over a year and is so happy. Only place we could find with private rooms and baths and caregiver ratio is just 4 to 1, so he gets constant care. Owners are great people that really look after the place. Staff is terrific. Activities like Chair Zumba, Music and Bingo are fun for him. He moved from another assisted living nearby and is so much happier at Whitewood. He has Dementia and they seem to specialize in that. I am so happy that I never have to worry about him there. Also, there are several other men living there so he has company. "
