The food is not good enough or plentiful enough, and there are not enough activities (the patients can get really bored), but I think that is typical of the average nursing home in the US. I like the nurses and the aides. They are doing the best they can. "

"Our son is a client at Peach Tree. He is a Traumatic Brain Injury Survior. We visited Peach Tree over a year ago and our son fell in love with it and the clients and staff. He has received a room there and is so happy that he is "on his own". It was hard on us as parents to let go but we had to let go in order for him to grow and be happy. "We chose State Street Assisted Living for mother because the windows in each room (the sitting room and the bedroom) had an outside window. So, it was brighter up there. The cost was also about the same as the others and I like that they participate in the Medicaid program. They do activities like going out and doing bus trips to different spots in the community twice a week, bingo games, Bible study twice a week, birthday parties, and crafts. The only issue we have is getting to know the staff and making sure they do what my mother needs. When they put her on the shower schedule, the person assigned to do the task didn't know it. So, she wasn't getting her shower and it took a while to get that straightened out. She needs help getting dressed, so sometimes she doesn't get that."

"My mother is in Silver Lake Center for long-term care. The staff seems very knowledgeable and very personable. It's an older building, and I think she said it was about 30 years old. It looked OK for a building being that age. I wish she had a bigger room, but she doesn't from what I could see from the windows, because we're not allowed to go in the bedroom. I went there Mother's Day and they allowed us to come in. They gave us a certain time to be there. Her room is like a hospital setup, and it reminded me of a dorm room. There's a person in there with her. My mother is not happy about being there. She wants to be home. She's 95 years old and she's used to being on her own, and that's confining to her. I could tell when we were there that they're being very patient with her. What they're trying to do is let her get used to the place, and them get used to her, so they can both be on the same level, and I appreciate that. We went into the function room, but it was set up like a little dining area. It can sit about 15 people, but they only allow one family in there at a time. They will bring the patients to you. They will wheel them out in a wheelchair or whatever they need to do because the rooms are really too small for everybody to be there, and with COVID, they still want you to be there at six feet apart. We should make the appointment 48 hours ahead of time so that they can get the patient ready, the nurse, and whoever gets the patient ready for you, especially like my mom, if they have to have assistants, which is fair. It looks pretty good for an older building. The landscaping and things are good. I can't say anything negative about it. I think the most negative part is my mother, and they have nothing to do with that. It's covered under her Medicare. Right now, she's paying $189 out-of-pocket to match Medicare. For the service that they're giving, in all fairness, that's a fair price because she's getting meals and service."

"Westminster Village is a very nice facility. The staff was very courteous and they were willing and able to answer any questions that I had. I currently have my mother who lives in this community. She lives in an apartment and is very pleased with it. The common areas are very tidy and appear to be well kept. Another wonderful feature about Westminster is the location, it is located right in the middle of Dover, and there are plenty of things to do. Many of the stores are just a few blocks away. This is a wonderful facility, with a wonderful staff and an up beat atmosphere. I would highly recommend it. "

"My mother has moved into The Lodge at Historic Lewes. The people are very friendly. They are taking great care of my mother, so we're doing good the first week. The food is excellent. They have different specials every day at lunch and dinner, and then they have a standard menu. So far I've just had two things off the standard menu, and they were just as good as any restaurant in the area. Everybody is extremely friendly and very helpful. I had a lot of questions, and they were very forthcoming. Any little tidbit of information I needed, they had it. The facility is beautiful. It's new, so it's gorgeous. There's nothing derogatory about cleanliness, it's just spotless. We've only been there a week, but we're very happy. They're very attentive. They come and check on Mom every two hours. Every day, they give my mother a little calendar with activities that she can go to, if she wants to. They're having a lot of little Christmas parties. They have movies. They have line dancing. Mom can't walk, but she says she's going to line dancing class, so she goes and watches, and she has made a lot of friends already. Regarding value for money, I know that they're in line with everything I read online, so I would say you get excellent value for your money."

"Homestead Manor is very nice, and clean. The staff has been very friendly, and helpful. They do all kinds of memory-type activities to help with the memory stimulation of the residents. The rooms seem to be very nice, and spacious. I just found the place to be very nice, and conveniently located within the community where my mom lives. "

"I worked in services for the aging for 25 years. My husband and I chose Manor House because it provides excellent care for independent residents as well as those who need additional help. We have been at Manor House for 3 1/2 years and enjoy the comforts provided by a caring and efficient staff. Manor House offers so many advantages it is hard to list them all. Recently I developed an infection in my toe after a minor procedure. When I called the doctor's office, he was out for the day. I was able to call the Manor House Wellness Center and see the Nurse Practitioner immediately. We have a wide range of fitness opportunities including a heated indoor pool and a large fitness room. There are many activities and trips to meet a range of tastes. We frequently have outside entertainers come in. There is also a library that is open 24 hours a day. These services are open for independent living, assisted living, rehab, skilled care and memory care. Pricing is reasonable."

"We found Brandywine Living for my mother, and we were very impressed with it. The rooms were very accommodating, she's got plenty of room, and I loved the courtyard view. It was very homey, we got it decorated with things that she wanted to put in there, and she has plenty of room. Everything was good, the staff seemed very caring to the residents, and we were impressed with the marketing director who presented the place to us. They talked directly to us, they answered all our questions, and they were very nice."

"I like the fact that Pelican Pointe Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation is a smaller setting, not like a big hospital setting. There's only one wing for rehab, one wing for long term care, and one locked dementia wing. The long-term wing really had a bad odor. I would describe the staff that assisted me as very thorough, and she took her time explaining things to me. They seemed to have a good amount of amenities and they stop in to ask their clients in the mornings if they want to join in on the activities. They provide OT and PT. The location is in an area where I can take my sister to stores that are close by or to the beach."
