The tour we had of Milford Place was very nice. It just wasn't for us, but the place was lovely, and the lady there couldn't be nicer. My husband just felt that most of the clientele were much older than us. Almost everybody we saw was in wheelchairs, and we're not ready for that yet. Other than that, it was a beautiful place. It had lovely furniture, and the rooms were nice. It just wasn't a fit. It's an assisted living community, and we're not ready for assisted living yet. We can still do a lot of stuff on our own. The place was very attractive and had lots of flowers. It had parking, so people must park there. It had a beauty parlor and, I guess, a haircut place for men, as well. Everybody seemed to be enjoying their lunch, and the people we passed in the halls and came in contact with all seemed very happy. They did not seem down, depressed, or unhappy. They all seemed smiley. The head lady was wonderful, and the receptionist who checked us in was nice. A gentleman also came out from the kitchen with cupcakes and water for us. We met a very nice aide up by the rooms where we were looking, and he was lovely. We met the head of activities, and she was lovely, too. We looked into the dining room, and they showed us the menu of everything that we could eat. There was a menu for breakfast, and they had a lovely menu for lunch. They also had alternatives if you didn't want anything. They had a lovely dinner menu, but if you did not want what they were serving, you could always get a hot dog, a hamburger, or a sandwich. I don't know if I saw salads, but they had other things, and that's very nice. You could sit anywhere you wanted and with whoever you wanted to sit. There was no assigned seating, which was nice. You could move any way you wanted. If you want to eat alone with your husband, you could go to a two-seater. If you want to eat with five or more people, they have big tables, too. They had square tables, and they were very nicely done. For the meal times, I think they said breakfast started at 7:30 and it could go up to maybe 11:00. Then lunch started at 11:30 and it went to 1:00. Dinner started at 4:30, and then everybody is kind of finished by 6:00. I think it was very nice. You could have your own time to go in and eat. If you don't want to go down for breakfast at 7:30, which I wouldn't, you can go down later. Everybody seemed happy and the staff were very agreeable and seemed to be really nice people. The place was very clean, although a lot of stuff is being redone. It was really pleasant. It was modern and seemed up-to-date. However, instead of independent living, it was more of an assisted living where they probably bring you down for meals, or maybe an aide comes up to help you. They said there was a whole category for if you need help showering, going to the bathroom, dressing, and medication. Everything that was on that list was a no for us because we really didn't need any extra care. I thought maybe we just got into the wrong place by going to an assisted living facility instead of an independent living facility.

Milford Place was nice and clean. The people were friendly. The tour was really good. They showed me the different rooms, the cafeteria, and everything. They offered me some cake and coffee. The rooms were nice, and they were set up with a microwave and a small refrigerator, and they said if people weren't able to work the microwave, they would take that out. They're looking out for the people who were there.

What I liked best about Milford Place was its very strong sense of community. That struck me from the moment I walked through the door. There was a welcome sign with my name on the right at the door as I walked in. I met with the assistant because the tour director was not available (she was on vacation), and we had a wonderful conversation. He took copious notes. He asked a lot about my husband and he also asked about the kind of person and activities that he liked before. There are options available if residents don't like the main menu. For example for breakfast, they offer a number of cooked options like eggs and stuff, but they also offer cereal if you don't want a cooked meal, which I think is pretty cool. I like the number of spaces where people could sit down and gather. I like the informality of the relationships that I observe between staff and residents, and between residents and other residents. It was like a small town community where people knew each other, said hello, asked about how things were going, and meant it. Not just as a "Hi, how are you? What's up?", but more like "Hi, how are you? Really?" Somebody from the kitchen brought me a muffin with some topping on it. It was very good. I looked at the director and said, "Do you think he's interested in a part-time job on the side?" And everybody roared, but it was that kind of a thing. What I liked about the facility was that it looked like a real house or living accommodation. Many of the places I've been looking at were fairly new, but they were all concrete and gray. They had 90-degree angles everywhere you looked. This one was furnished. The gathering rooms had chairs and stuff on the walls. It just looked like a house instead of an institution.

I went to Milford Place. I liked how friendly and open everything was. I like the way it was mapped out, and how the rooms were in each other's areas. The person who gave the tour was very polite, and very patient with me. She answered all my questions. She didn't hesitate to take a tour with me. She was very nice, knowledgeable, and caring. She made me feel like I was someone. I wasn't just an old senior citizen who had a disability. She made me feel like I was just another person that she knew. Overall, the place was clean. It looked brand new and friendly. I liked it. They have transportation if you need it. That was something I was interested in. So, I would be able to go where I needed to go.

I went to Milford Place. We had an appointment, and the cook came out and brought us dessert and water. He made some cake with fresh strawberries on top, so we ate that. It was very clean and the staff was very nice. They were very hospitable. It's a very nice, homey atmosphere. The staff intermingled with the clients. The clients liked being there. They have a salon. They have housekeeping. They do their laundry once a week. They have someone to clean your room. They have staff to help them in the morning to get dressed if they need help. The staff was wonderful.

We visited the memory care unit of Milford Place. It was fantastic. The unit was clean. It looked like the clients there were well taken care of. It was the daytime and they had adequate staffing to assist them with their lunch because some of them were one-on-one care when it came to eating. The staff was excellent. The rooms were adequate, very pretty, and clean. I was just very impressed with the rooms. They were private rooms for all the clients. It's almost like home. The layout was very pleasant. They had an open garden courtyard that they could go to any time, and it was well protected by four walls that the clients could not walk away from. There was also another garden that the family members could take their loved ones out to, but they would always be with a staff member or a family member if they were in that particular area. The door to that garden was locked at all times, so they could not get out on their own. They had free access to go to the courtyard. The hallways were wide and accessible. It was a nice place. I had desserts from the community. I met with the chef, and he explained the meals to me and explained how they would assess my husband for any special needs, and what they would do if they would meet his special needs and how they do that. I was very pleased with that, too. They had a dining area. There's a table set up for them that two to four people could sit at. It was almost like a cafe-type setting. If they made friends, then they could have the availability to sit with their friends and just chitchat while they ate. Staff members were floating around at all times while they were in there eating. They have some memory activities where they were playing games and trying to engage them like flipping cards and finding the same card all the time. They have a tool bench for guys that like to do tools and work with things. The courtyard also has a garden in it where they can grow flowers, vegetables, or whatever during the season. They keep them active as long as they can. They don't force it on them, though. Some were just sitting there watching TV because they didn't want to do anything that day.

Milford Place was clean and friendly. It was full of life. It was a happy atmosphere. Everybody was catering to everyone else. It was almost like a perfect setting. I was looking for maximum care, and they didn't offer exactly what my grandmother needed. They're more for assisted living, not for what I was looking for. It's more of a level 1, 2, and 3, and my grandmother is more a level 5 and 6. She always needs help and it's not a good fit for her, but I was immensely impressed with the establishment. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, well-mannered, and happy. The dining area was exquisitely clean, well kept, put together, and very fancy. They gave us scones with fruit and my husband said they were pretty good. The chef personally came and spoke to us, and they seemed to cater to anyone's special needs, diets, or likes or dislikes. There are plenty of activities. They were excellent people and it was an excellent establishment. I would give it to anybody who's looking for assisted living for their seniors and loved ones. It's a way for them to live independently and live free and still have the care that they need. Their facilities were excellent. The apartments were easy to maneuver through with wheelchairs, they were flat, there were no steps to get into, and they were very spacious.

Based on our visit of the Milford Place, it would have been a perfect place for my father to live in. The environment was nice, and the people were friendly. Everything looked clean and neat. The place looked like they gave a lot of support. They showed me the 2-bedroom when we toured, and it was very convenient. It had an easy lay-out and plenty of room. They had a recreational room where they have a TV, and people were able to mingle with masks and watch the tv program. There was a group that did artwork. They actually gave me a treat. It was really nice, and it was super good.

Milford Place didn't suit us. We're a little more active than what we saw. There were many people in wheelchairs. The one-bedroom looked like a motel room. There was no stove, just a mini refrigerator. They had a bus that would take you places two days a week only. The staff was very friendly and very nice. The place was clean and it had no smell to it. Everything seemed okay except for the rooms. It's nice if you need a nursing home. It was very clean and quiet.
