I worked in services for the aging for 25 years. My husband and I chose Manor House because it provides excellent care for independent residents as well as those who need additional help. We have been at Manor House for 3 1/2 years and enjoy the comforts provided by a caring and efficient staff. Manor House offers so many advantages it is hard to list them all. Recently I developed an infection in my toe after a minor procedure. When I called the doctor's office, he was out for the day. I was able to call the Manor House Wellness Center and see the Nurse Practitioner immediately. We have a wide range of fitness opportunities including a heated indoor pool and a large fitness room. There are many activities and trips to meet a range of tastes. We frequently have outside entertainers come in. There is also a library that is open 24 hours a day. These services are open for independent living, assisted living, rehab, skilled care and memory care. Pricing is reasonable.

We have found Manor House for my mom. We've been there three different times in the last two years looking at it. We chose them because we live in the area, and she knows a lot of people there. That's the place she has been the most comfortable with and is considering going into. When we toured it, it was a very nice place, kept well, there's a lot of activities and a good atmosphere. Plus, she will be close to the rest of the family. The only downside I think it's a little bit pricier than others, but they offer a lot, too. Also, it's in the area that she would like to be and we would like her to be. The staff was very personable. I probably dealt with three or four different people over the time that we visited it. They seemed to care about their job. Just walking through the halls and seeing other residents, they're speaking to everybody by name. It feels like a little community when you're in there. Every time anybody leaves, they paint the apartment, they change the carpet, and they give you as a new tenant a chance to make some modifications. You've got to pay for that, but there's an opportunity if you want to customize something or change something. If you don't do anything, they're going to change the carpet, and they're going to change the flooring and paint everything of your choice of colors and stuff. From what I've seen, the units are well-kept because they're constantly being remodeled.

Manor House was quite a big and very nice facility. You could go there just for retirement. Then, if you needed assistance later on, there were areas that you could go for that. There were areas that you could go for dementia or nursing. It was a nice retirement area. There were a lot of choices of rooms of various sizes. There were cottages, two bedrooms, and three bedrooms. It was like a whole, really nice community, but it was also expensive.

Manor House had a good staffing ratio and offered continuum of care all the way. The thing I liked about them was that they’re a little different because you have to buy-in and need quite a bit of money upfront, then you pay a certain amount each month. They cover all of your medical fully, so you don’t have to worry about anything. It’s right next to the hospital and very convenient and accessible. I knew people that stayed there who are very independent. There were too many activities; if I ever go in, I would not even do a 10th of what's going on. They had a beauty parlor, exercise, thrift stores, library, and clubs. It was very interactive.

Manor House was fine and probably where we’ll go because it is life care and we won’t need to go out of state. They told me they are having a fence put in. They do have security guards that walk the premises. It is an older facility.
