With aging, often times there are medical changes. At Delmar Estates we have a full time RN available to assess any changes with your loved ones. If there are any concerns or changes you will be immediately contacted by our staff.

At Delmar estates we accept residents over the age of 60. Most residents are active and enjoy gardening, music and playing games. We strive to keep our residents active and encourage families to visit.

If Delmar Estates Assisted Living accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?

Accepted Answer

Currently we don’t accept pets however your pets are welcome to visit. We have large deck spaces and grass areas to enjoy your pets visit.

What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?

Accepted Answer

Our staff receives 5 hours of Alzheimer’s training at the time of hire as well as all state-required training. They are also certified by our Registered nurse to pass meds through the Maryland Board of Nursing. They also all receive certification in CPR and first aid. In addition, we offer 3 hours of training per month based on our current residents' needs.

Delmar Estates is close to the beaches and the mall. There are lots of great restaurants close by as well.

Delmar Estates offers transportation to appointments as well as to outings.

At Delmar Estates we are constantly modifying our menu based on our monthly menu committee meetings. Delmar Estates is their home and we want them to contribute to making the monthly menus. In addition we offer all special diets including diabetic, renal, low fat and puréed.

Our full-time RN assesses residents immediately if there are any changes and will reach out to family to discuss.

Accepted Answer

Since we offer a 1;8 ratio for staffing, someone is always available at meal to assist residents and make sure they are well hydrated and receiving the nutrition they need.

A full assessment is completed on admission on each of our residents. That is repeated every 45 days as well as with any medical changes.

We pride ourselves in being a smaller home-like setting. With only 16 residents we take pride in knowing each of our residents personal situations and knowing their families. We staff at a one caregiver to 8 residents ratio around the clock.

Delmar Estates offers daily activities including outings, arts and crafts, games and live music. We host a few large events a year including the 4th of July cookout, a summer fair, Christmas and thanksgiving community dinners with families and friends. In addition we also celebrate birthdays monthly.

Delmar Estates is located right outside of the town of Delmar. It is located on a beautiful 8-acre piece of land surrounded by trees. It is a very peaceful setting.

If more care is needed, our RN will contact the family and have the resident sent to PRMC (now Tidal Health) for further evaluation.

All interior doors have key pad entry system.

All our staff receives 5 hours of initial training and 2 hours annually. In addition to the initial training we offer monthly training as well based on the needs of our residents.

At Delmar Estates we take safety very seriously. We do a fall assessment on admission on all our residents. All our staff is first aide and CPR certified. We conduct fire and disaster drills quarterly. In addition all of our doors are alarmed.
