The Best Assisted Living Communities in Worcester County, MD

"I went to Gull Creek Senior Living. I liked it a lot. It felt like being in a resort. It had very high-end features to it, just beautiful decor. The salesperson was very helpful. I was there when they were eating, and it smelled delicious in the dining hall. The only negative on that one was that their apartments were tight and small. But I think in every place I've seen the apartments are small, so that's not unusual. I liked it a lot. I wish my parents would have considered it because I thought it was a really good option. I also thought that their pricing was extremely reasonable. The apartment had a kitchenette that was very nice with granite counters and such. The staff said she told me you could bring any plug-in appliance you wanted, but they provide a refrigerator. They have a courtyard that they have been working on. Because it was Christmas, they had a Christmas tree lighting there in the middle of it. They had a tree decorated. It was nice. There were lots of benches for people to sit there. A lot of the balconies from the units that overlook the courtyard, too, which was nice. They're top-notch."

"My mother is in Chesapeake Cottage. It's small, homelike, and it's in a rural setting. They have a porch with rocking chairs. The place is clean, carpeted, and smells good. The rooms are large, carpeted, has a bed, a dresser, nightstand, chairs, and television. She has a closet and a large bathroom that could accommodate a wheelchair. The dining room is small, and the residents seem to enjoy the food. They have activities and a center where senior citizens can go. They're treating my mother kind, appreciating her, calling her by her title as a retired principal, giving her that kind of respect, and looking out for her. They went above and beyond. She said the food is good. The facility is really nice."

"We were very impressed with Lakeside at Mallard Landing. It looked to be just wonderful and we interviewed a few people who lived there, and who were very happy to be there. The dining area looked delightful, was beautifully arranged, and implemented. The menus looked great, and nobody complained about the food. The staff was very accommodating and patient with us. Everybody was very pleasant. What impressed me is that everybody seemed to be very happy there. The appearance was very elegant."

"Our brother Charles was a resident of Parson's Senior Living in Salisibury, MD from June through September of 2023. The facilities are older, but rather grand, old world and stately. High ceilings, lots of meeting spaces and a large wide front porch made the home very inviting. And the staff was awesome, in a very challenging environment Everyone had a smile. Everyone said Good Morning or Good Afternoon. They were skilled, caring and personable. And the staff worked with my brothers, sister and me to make Charlie's stay as convenient and comfortable as possible. Thank you Parsons! Really well done. "

"My Mom moved into Delmar Estates 2 weeks after they opened. The rooms are beautiful- nice and big and the building is bright and cheery. The staff is 100% invested in my Moms care. Anything we ask for they are able to meet our needs. Management and nursing is wonderful and very responsive. The food is great and mom loves the activities "

"My friend was at Delmar Villa. It was clean. It seemed like an OK place. I just wish they had answered the call button a little bit more often than they did. They were very nice to me. It's during Covid, so I had to drop things off at the front door. I wasn't actually able to visit other than holler through the window. They were wonderful to me at the door as I had to drop things off like every day or every other day. What my friend would tell me on the phone, because I talked to him several times a day during these four months, they did not often come when he pressed the call button. He had diabetes, so he would be having trouble here and there. He liked very much the through-the-week staff, but not so much the weekend staff. It wasn't like regular assisted living. My friend had a bedroom and there was a community kitchen. He was bedbound, so his situation was actually very different. I could not get him into a regular nursing home with full care; they're not accepting anyone from the home, only from the hospital. I was very lucky that Delmar Villa agreed to take him even though he was bedbound. I'm very grateful to them for the care that they could give. He was past the point of where I could take care of him. For me, it was a wonderful experience, but for him, it was a difficult transition. I would actually recommend it. I was very fortunate. Many of the rooms were double rooms. Because my friend was such a very large man and he had an extra large hospital bed, they allowed me to bring his hospital bed and all of his things. They actually gave me a double room so that he had more space because he needed more space. I was very impressed with the cleanliness. The people were very nice. Never was anyone rude to me or to my friend for that matter. They had a wonderful kitchen, and there's a group living room with a television. Everybody had a television in their room with a remote control. Many of the bathrooms were private, but some were shared. The rooms were actually quite big, but they were bedrooms, not apartments where anybody can make their own food. There were only a maximum of 12 residents there. It was very small, and they're actually building more to it. There's a memory care unit next door to this place. They're actually two small houses with many bedrooms inside. The facility was very good. As far as playing cards or going on field trips, I don't have any idea. What I do know is about physical therapy and those things and that was excellent. They got him help immediately."
