I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is at Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island. The community has made me feel like part of the family there. I'm very happy with it. I have nothing bad to say about the place. I like everything about it. They offer constant care. They treat my husband wonderfully. His room is lovely. It has a full bathroom, a window to look out at a beautiful garden, and it's quite large. The food is decent. They have some physical activities. They always have music playing. They offer different things, but my husband is not one to get too involved.

I visited this facility

My overall impression of Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island is it was a nice place. It was certainly clean and looked like it was well cared for. The decor in the public areas was a little ornate. I live at the beach, so the décor of the public areas was a little ornate for my taste. There was nothing wrong with it, just that I live in a beach community, and I thought it could be just as nice, but a little more casual. It's a little bit more formal. It was just a matter of taste and was well-furnished. I understand the reasoning behind it, but the little kitchen area was pretty lacking. It has a very small refrigerator, a very small microwave, and more like a bar thing. I know that they're pushing you to go eat the meals in the dining room, but there was no cooking ability in there. You certainly have milk, snacks, and stuff. The largest apartment had a full kitchen and a room. But if you're that much in need of assisted living, that's probably just fine. They were very nice; we were not rushed or anything, and they were very thorough. They showed us the place, and all the public areas, discussed their activities, everything. We didn't have any questions that weren't answered. The décor was so formal in the public areas, but that was all in the public areas because you furnished your own rooms. Overall, I rate it a five; the things that got dropped down a little bit were just personal choices. There wasn't anything wrong with it, it just wasn't my sense of style.

My mom moved into Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island. I chose it because it was only 10 minutes from my house. So it's very convenient for me to see my mom. It was very clean. The people were very nice and knowledgeable. I think it just felt like home to me when I walked in the door. It's just that feeling of " I belong here." It was just like you feel like you're coming home. And I felt like I would have wanted to be in that facility if it was my time, and that's why I chose that for my mom. The food was really good. I would like to eat there all the time. They've been very accommodating whenever I had to move furniture there. They let us through to the back doors to load the furniture. And then if you bring something through the front door that's a little smaller, they have carts there that you can take things up to the elevator. They're just very, very accommodating to your needs and the needs of the residents. It has a very nice curb appeal when you first walk up and it's not disappointing when you walk through the door. The woman that sits at the desk, Miss Renee, she's the sweetest person. I couldn't hand pick a better person to be at the front desk than her. Wonderful.

I visited this facility

Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island was a beautiful facility with a lot of activities. They seemed to focus on the individual's needs. For instance, the group activities they have in memory care people were appropriate to the level of care that they needed. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming. The lady that was supposed to give us a tour was out sick, but they actually found somebody else to do that and he seemed to be also very caring staff and knew the place inside and out. The front desk and just all the staff were great. There was one lady (resident) who was sitting near the front desk, and the guy at the front desk was very communicative with her. I liked to see that, because it seemed like he genuinely cared about the residents. They have libraries, salons, dining places in every hall, and huge rooms that you can use for free to bring your family/to throw your loved one a birthday party. They have activity rooms, outings, and a lot of stuff. They even have smaller kitchens where they could go and just order something right there off the menu.

My mother has been a resident at Brandywine Fenwick for 2.5 years. During this period she has received outstanding personal and professional care. AL living is a significant transition and hard for all involved, and nothing is ever perfect. However the leadership and caregivers at Brandywine work together as a well coordinated team, and provide exceptional support to both the resident and the family. The facility is exceptionally clean and well maintained, the quality of nursing support is outstanding, and the day-to-day operations are both creative and engaging. I am particularly grateful for the individual care managers and nursing staff who work hard to coordinate and support my mothers unique needs. Brandywine’s ability to transition her care Internally as her clinical needs have changed, is a particular benefit of this facility and is reflective of the strong clinical leadership in its nursing director. I highly recommend that anyone shopping for a progressive, supportive and caring assisted living environment give Brandywine Fenwick Island a look. I feel confident that my Mom is in good hands.

My mother-in-law lives at Brandywine Fenwick. She is always commenting on how there is always something to do there and how kind and caring the staff are. We are delighted that she is being taken care of so well and would recommend it to anyone. The facilities are stunning, and a professional chef cooks all the food from scratch. We have eaten with her several times and we think it is delicious too. Christine Warrington has been particularly helpful.

I visited this facility

Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island was a wonderful place. The people were very nice. It was very clean, upscale, and very nice. The rooms were good sized. They had a lot of transportation options that were very helpful. I liked that they had independent living, assisted living and memory care all in one place. They answered all our questions and they were very professional. It's just a little more expensive than we liked. They had everything that you would want.

I love Brandywine Living at Fenwick. My son has been a resident for almost 3 years and I couldn’t be more pleased. He is treated with dignity and respect by the entire staff. They always acknowledge him in passing and the activities are a big plus which add to his quality of life. He recently celebrated his birthday and they put balloons on his dinner table as well as making sure everyone knew it was his special day. This facility and the employees are to be commended for their diligence and service to all residents and their families. Thank you for taking such good care of him!

My Grandmother was a resident at this community for a Respite stay while our family was out of the country. The entire facility is comparable to a luxury hotel rather than what you would expect to encounter in an assisted living environment and the atmosphere and staff very similar to that of a cruise ship. Our experience began with the Director of Community Relations, Jeannie, and she was extremely knowledgeable and worked hard to ensure we had all the information we needed in order to make the best decision regarding my Grandmothers room and the level of care she would receive. We emailed her multiple times with questions we had and they were answered promptly, even on weekends. As an added convenience her room came fully furnished. Brad, the Maintenance Director graciously assisted my grandmother in arranging the furniture in her room how just how she wanted and took great care to make sure she would be comfortable. The entire staff was excellent! The highlight of her stay at Brandywine was the food. The dining room operated like an upscale restaurant complete with a white table cloths. Food was cooked to order and served by a waiter. My Grandmother even managed to gain a few pounds during her stay...which for her was a good thing!

The entire staff is friendly and courteous. They know all the residents by there first name. You can feel the caring nature when you are anywhere in the facility. The residents are always smiling, upbeat and happy. The various day trips provided throughout the month are well thought out and well attended by the residents. Everyone is treated like family here. I would recommend to anyone.

I'm a senior advisor and a professional guardian. I was retained by my client to research retirement communities in PA and Delaware since they have family in these areas. Obtaining information is like pulling teeth. The corporate director of community relations was to rude and unprofessional and basically told me to take my business elsewhere (all I wanted was a brochure). If this is the treatment they give someone seeking information on front-end, how would they treat a resident or a family member who have questions or concerns. Yes, I have recommend to my client to move somewhere else.

My mom moved to Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island in February 2012 and we have never regretted this decision. The staff there was welcoming from the very start and that has never changed. My mom has very poor vision and they accomodated her by putting her room close to the elevator so she could find her way back to her room easily. She also has a colostomy which is difficult, if not impossible, to manage by herself due to her poor vision. At first this was a bit of a challenge as the staff was not used to this kind of appliance, but the nurses took charge and taught the other caretakers how to change the bags etc. She truly feels safe there and cared for. The surroundings are beautiful. The entire facility is clean and safe. They promote independence as much as possible and strive to keep the seniors busy and their minds occupied with fun things. To quote my mom "I feel like I'm on vacation every day". Isn't that how we all want our lives to be at this stage? Thanks Brandywine!

Our Mom has been at Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island in the Reflections program (Memory Care unit) for 3 years. She is thriving there. Her Alzheimer’s deterioration has slowed with the active yet structured environment, daily exercise (Fun, Fit and Fabulous) and healthy meals. The caregivers are kind and attentive; yet do not do things for the residents that they can do for themselves. Brandywine has programs for the residents that are fun and family focused, such as the monthly Family Day Connections. This is a monthly “theme based” party for the residents and their families to enjoy shared experiences. Brandywine serves special treats and has live music for everyone to enjoy either by singing along, dancing or just listening. We feel so fortunate and blessed to have our Mom at Brandywine. We no longer worry about her safety, well-being or whether she is being mentally stimulated. We know she is!

My Father has been a resident of Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island since January 21, 2012. The care my Father receives is top-notch. The staff at Brandywine are always professional and kind when I visit. I like the fact, Brandywine offers nursing services 24/7, as well as, transportation to various places in town whether it be a simple trip to the drug store or a doctors visit. Brandywine offers on-site physical/occupational/aqua therapies. Also offered on site is a beauty shop where one can get hair and nails done. The dining facilities are very warm and welcoming. The food is excellent. The location is 2 miles to the Fenwick Island, Delaware Beach.

I moved my Mother to Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island Delaware in April. I chose this facility because of a referral of a friend and have been very happy with the staff and their programs. I especially like the Signature programs like the Family Day Connections. Family Day lets you meet other family members of the residents and helps you build relationships with each other for support. I also love the fact that they call me and keep me informed, send me photos, and always return my calls.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My brother and I brought my parents to Brandywine Senior Living/Fenwick Island in November 2013, from their home in Florida. Dad is near 90 and was very weak, both from a long trip moving here and his congestive heart disease. Mom was suffering from dementia. We were met at the door to Brandywine by medical and management staff after their normal hours. We could not have received a warmer welcome from family. It seemed as though everyone on staff knew each of us personally. The medical staff paid immediate attention to their specific needs and arranged for the proper therapy for them. When Mom passed away in March 2014, the staff was extremely supportive of all of us, especially my Dad. Dad has blossomed under their care, physically and mentally. At home, his hobby was woodworking. Recently, the staff at Brandywine started a cooperative woodworking project where men who have interests like my Dad build small wooden projects, using power tools, which are then finished by other residents who enjoy painting and decorating. Dad was so happy after his first day of this project that he sounded like a kid at Christmas when he told me that ”they moved a woodshop in and I’m covered with sawdust again!” The attention to detail at Brandywine is amazing. I truly feel as though I am among friends whenever I’m there visiting. My brother and I no longer worry about Dad. We know that he is well cared for, well fed and happy.

In need of assisted living for my father in law, my wife and I were referred to Brandywine Assisted Living. On visiting Brandywine we were stuck by the elegance and warmth of the facility. You really have to see it to believe it. Brandywine has the feel of a high end apartment building. Most anyone would feel comfortable as soon as they walked in the door. I certainly did. The administrative staff went to great lengths to understand my father in law’s financial situation and medical needs. They presented a residency plan that was easy to understand and addressed all of his medical and physical needs. They also helped formulate a financial plan that ensured that his resources would provide for his care for the rest of his life. The resident care staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They genuinely care about the residents and their interactions with them are those you would expect from good friends. On the day my father in law moved in to Brandywine, every member of the staff he encountered addressed him by name. We later learned that the staff had been briefed on who my father in law was as well as some particular issues and concerns dealing with his personal safety. Clean, comfortable, safe, friendly, great staff, lots of activities…In Brandywine we found what we were looking for. My father in law is comfortable and happy and we know that he is safe and well cared for. Our entire experience with Brandywine has been, in a word, Impressive.

From the first visit to this facility to the final check in the process was made easy for myself and my aunt. She was welcomed with open arms and made to feel special from the start. The staff is very caring and helpful. There are always daily activities on every interest level. I am extremely happy with the care my aunt receives
