"The people are very courteous and very nice. They go out of their way to please you. They have different activities at different times. They said they have coffee 24 hours, which amused me. They're very pleasant, and the place was very nice. It's a relatively new facility."

"Both my sister and brother-in-law are at Tribute at Melford. We chose it because that was a place that my brother-in-law had seen, and he was impressed with it. A lot of the places are very large and sprawling, and he felt that my sister wouldn't be comfortable in something like that. I went and saw it myself, and I was impressed with the administrator there, that's why we selected it. They're having difficulty with getting people to work, as a lot of organizations are, and I know they're trying their best, but my sister and brother-in-law also have a caregiver that comes in part-time while they're there. They need more care than what they can actually get right now, and it's new for them. They left a home of 65 years, and it's been a very difficult move for them. The facility is doing as much as they can to make them comfortable, and they wanted to leave right away, and I just said sit tight, and it's only been a few weeks, so they seemed to be adjusting. There are staff members that were actually working alongside the residents. They're understaffed though. They have a snack bar, a lovely dining room, a gym, a movie theater, a beauty parlor, and nice facilities outdoors."

"New Horizon Assisted Living is a private home. It's in the old section of Bowie, Maryland, in the Somerset section. It's not too bad. No activities. It's got a great caretaker and she has a big heart and she takes care of us. I'm pretty self-sufficient. There are other people that need diaper change and I don't need that stuff. The caretaker is here, except on weekends. She's got a replacement on the weekends. They're good people. The only problem is, there is not much medical care. I've never seen a doctor or nurse. Nothing like that. They need to update their prescription list because before I started here, I came right out of the hospital and they were giving me what the hospital prescribed, but now I don't get any. It's just kind of hit or miss, like any other place. The caretaker is a good cook. The other one is a zero. She's a terrible cook. She's from Guyana and she cooks strange foreign stuff. It's an old Bowie house. They got four bedrooms in one house so there's four of us here. It's expensive."

"My daughter's dad moved into AB Residence Assisted Living. His room is perfect because he was able to take his chair when he was sitting there every day. He had that big chair with the remote that could lift you up and put you down, which sat in his room along with the furniture they had in there. So, he's happy. It was nice and clean. It didn't have any odor, and the outside was nice and clean. It had a ramp for him because he's in a wheelchair, so he can go to dialysis. It was nice and safe. He said the food is good because when he was at my daughter's house he kept having us order him food out. So, he hasn't been ordering any food. He's been eating his food. He said it's cooked really good. The staff is good because they get him to shower every day. We couldn't get him to clean himself. So, when he was with us at home, he would not wash. So, since he's been here, they've been getting him in the shower, and he's been showering every day. He's nice and clean. He doesn't participate in activities, but they have a family room where activities take place. I thought it was a good value because everywhere else I went we couldn't afford it."

"Mom was a resident of Abundance Care. The caregivers are exceptional. Initially she did not require hands-on care because she was independent for the most part. She could get around, she was verbal, and she was active in the community events that they had at the senior center. It was great and Jordan was great with my mom in terms of the transition when she moved from my sister's house to Abundance Care. I was very much pleased with the caregivers and Valerie who owns Abundance Care. They were always responsive when it came to her medical appointments. We were in sync when it came time to communicate her needs and wants and then my mother had a medical event which dramatically changed her whole care. She needed more attention, she's lost her ability to speak clearly, and her mobility was very, very limited. It was always exceptional before, but it was just even more important at that point because my mom was needing that extra care. Mom really came to rely on Jordan to be with her and to guide her because we couldn't do it. I was very pleased with them initially, but even more so when my mom had those challenges. My mom was friends with one of the residents there. The rooms were great and the common areas were great because it really was conducive as a home environment and that's important. It was clinical, but it was homey. The transition was easier for her because it was like almost she was going into a home as opposed to going into a center. She had a private room. They had activities and Bible study. Every holiday, they always had people come in and sing, choirs and they had Bible services which my mother was very much a part of. Prior to her major event, she had physical therapy there. They were able to offer the services that she would normally get if she was outside. They had those in-house services that were great. Even though I could have brought my own outside services in, I felt more comfortable with using theirs because they work with them as a team. Just like them, they were very personable and they were very patient with my mom. I never had to go outside for anything because everything was right there. Value was great with me when it came to the money. For me personally, it was very reasonable because Valerie worked with me with my mom."

"Holy Hills Assisted Living was clean and bright. It was a smaller home, which is what I was looking for. There was a lot of sunlight coming into it. Everyone was friendly and very knowledgeable. I was able to get a folder full of information to bring home with me to review. Their dining area was spacious and clean. They offer activities. From the time I called, I was able to get in very quickly to see their property, so that was a plus."
