"D & G Homecare I had one building where they had a couple of beds and it seemed really dark. The people that were there looked happy. I saw one room, and it was a bedroom. They said that sometimes they had two beds in there. The waiting area where they had the TV room had eight chairs for people to sit down, and that was pretty much all I saw there. The staff member who toured me was good, though."

"What I liked about Loving Care Assisted Living IV very much is that they had more than one nurse or attendant. With the other place, because it was out so far, it was a little unnerving that if there was a medical emergency or something, I don't know how they would get the residents, other than calling an ambulance, and how they would attend to everybody else. I liked it very much. In fact, I would choose this for my parents. It's in the middle of Havre de Grace. It's centrally located right in town. They had lots of places to walk. They said they take their residents out. There's a park close by. It's fairly clean. It was larger than the other place. They have a designated shower area, which is great, as opposed to just a bathroom. The other place had a tub where you had to sit on something and get into the tub for a shower. The staff was very bubbly. I love the way she joked around with the residents. They were all very happy and comfortable. She warned me ahead of time that a couple of residents, one in particular, would ask if they could go outside, and leave the building and it was cute. She was also very knowledgeable and informative. She knew about everything that was going on. In fact, they are getting ready to build an addition. Right now, they have rooms for two people sharing. The expansion that they're doing will make the rooms a little larger so they can accommodate a couple, which would be my mom and dad. They do activities, games, and things like that."

"I toured Dulaney Valley Assisted Living at Hunt Valley and liked that it was a house. I liked the nursing staff-to-patient ratio. I also liked how the rooms were clean and set up and how they addressed the fact that every patient was different because of their mental status. They were quite a little different, and it's not all cookie-cutter same thing for everyone. The head nurse there was very knowledgeable and informative. The place was very nice. I was in the bathroom, and in some locations, the pungent odor of urine was very predominant. You could not have that with this location."

"My brother is in a unique situation. He had a debilitating stroke when he was younger, now at only 55, his health was in decline and he needed assisted living. The staff at Viva are so vibrant and joyful. They've treated my brother with so much respect and encouragement. They want him to get better in hopes that he may regain some independence - and it's working! They won't let him quit. This level of care goes beyond what is simply required. These are incredible humans who want the best for the people in their care. Dana the Medical Technician, Patrice and Daija the Resident Care Aides are the best."

"My husband stayed at Inspirations Memory Care of Lutherville for about a month. I was very pleased with it. They were very friendly, and they gave me any information I needed. When I would call them they would say, "Do you want to talk to him?" and they would take the phone right to him so I could speak with him. He seemed to have adjusted pretty well. His appetite was very poor, but I know they tried to fix him things he liked. The community was very small but very clean, and it seemed homey. It didn't seem like they were going into a facility. It was comfortable. I was not allowed to go inside because of COVID. The facilities are very adequate, too."

"I did quite a bit of research before we placed my parents in Victorian Villa. We were looking for a facility where my father and mother could be together. There are a lot of places that don't have the space for a couple. My mother looks 10 years younger since she moved there. They take such good care of their residents. She needs to be on a gluten-free diet and they would go way out of their way to accommodate her. They have family nights every now and then. My sister's been over there and she said the food is quite good. It's a small facility. There's only 40 people, so they can give a lot of individual attention. It's always clean, so neat, and there's plenty of staff. There's always someone there. You always see someone around in case they need help. My father has passed, but they went out of their way to meet his needs as well right up till the end. So we're very, very pleased and we feel blessed that we found such a nice facility for our parents. "

"Loving Care Assisted Living was great. This is the one that I would like to send my mother to. Jasmine was wonderful. She had a wonderful set-up. My mother enjoyed the people and staff that were there, including the residents. She had a great time. I loved it. Everything is in that one facility. They don't have it closed off for memory care and assisted living. It was a full assisted living facility. They just had special locks on the doors for wandering, so that they couldn't get them open. I felt comfortable because my mother wanders. The staff members were friendly and kind. They were laughing, and they could relate to my mother. They were talking to her, and she was talking to them. It was just a good conversation. Everyone was wonderful."

"I toured Lighthouse Senior at Living Hopkins Creek. It looked clean. It looked like the people that lived there were a tight-knit community, with a lot of activities. It looked good, but it's out of the price range. The staff was helpful. The facility looks new. The people were comfortable there."

"Oak leaf manor and is an amazing place and is somewhere that I would suggest to anyone looking for long term care. My grandfather was placed there in 2010 and the whole entire time the facility and staff were absolutely amazing. I have nothing at all bad to say about this facility. The staff here was great and made sure that they treated my grandfather with the best care ever, and made him feel like a person not a patient. The whole facility made sure that they met his needs at all time and made sure to make him feel at home. The facility did many different outings so he felt like he was not stuck in a place. He was able to go outside daily which was extremely important to him. The staff was supportive since day one till when he passed in 2011. During his last days the facility made sure that his privacy was kept and that he could spend time with his family and not worry about being around a lot of people. I would recommend this facility to anyone and know where I will take other family members when the time comes. "

"I visited Ideal Comfort Assisted Living and toured for assisted living. It's not a good facility. I would never take my father there. The rooms are too small, and there's no privacy. It's not set up for level 3 care, so my father wouldn't have 24-hour coverage. It's not handicap accessible, and the neighborhood is not that great as well, so it just wouldn't be a good fit for him. The person who gave the tour was nice enough. That wasn't the issue; the person was okay. The only suggestion I will make is that I think they need to break down the number of people who are in there, I think they need more privacy and more staff. I think they are understaffed if they're going to offer level 3 care."

"Celebration Villa of York was our favorite one, but it was too far and expensive. It was good. It had everything that we wanted for my dad. They do lots of activities like trips,and going outside to feed the birds, and they have raised gardens that they could do. It checked off all of our boxes. The lady there was great. We spent an hour and a half with her. She gave us a lot of information that we didn't even think of before. She kind of pointed us in the right direction going forward. We checked the dining area. We were going to have lunch and then we were already running late for the next tour, but she gave us a little jar of snacks that she makes for new residents and we had drinks. It was very nice. The apartments were good. It was perfect. It was just what we thought it would be. It was bright and airy. There's indoor and outdoor space."

"I toured About That Life Assisted Living. I didn't go with anything else. I went because of the location and I liked the facility and it was very clean. The program, she ran it down to me, the things that my cousin would be doing, doctor's appointments, eating, taking his medication. If we want to put him out and he wants to go to daycare, he can. I chose that one because the lady was very professional and the house was nice."

"I love this place!!! After my Dad passed away I saw that my mothers dementia escalated, and I knew that it was time to take the next step.I did honor my mom's request to stay in her house with aides for about a year, but I was very much aware of the social isolation that ensued. My brother and I went on a tour around the Pikesville area. It was important that the facility be somewhat nearby as I knew that we would be the kind of sons that would want to see her almost daily. I also knew that I didn't want some big institutional type setting..I had remembered that someone once told me that generally speaking any faith-based hospital or senior living facility often has a certain compassion and kindness inherent to it. When we walked out of Tudor Heights, I said to my brother"this is the place" for mom. I didn't require that it be Kosher food based, but that turned out to be a bonus. The staff knows every resident even if they don't work that residents floor. The residents all know each other, and there are no "mile long" walks to get anywhere. I also noticed in the other places I saw that often the residents were just sitting around doing nothing. The activities directors here are non-stop, always going from one thing to the next. Sometimes I can't even get a few minutes alone with Mom !!! We are in our 4th year here, and as I still say to my brother, "best decision we ever made.""
