"I had a friend who was at Laurelwood Healthcare Center for 10 weeks. We weren't very happy with the staffing, the pushy business environment, and the lack of support in getting financial assistance. They were pushing for his wife to be there, and it wasn't even appropriate. So, my entire experience with them was negative. I was there almost daily. My friend's room was clean and sparse. Their food was average (I don't think it was any better or worse than anyplace else). The clinical staff seemed great, but the administrative staff was not helpful. They're the ones who were pushy and not really supportive of my friend's situation."

"I came into Elkton Rehab unable to walk or stand up! I was in a bad place mentally & physically! Since I been here the Physical Therapy Department here has got me strong, stable balanced and back on my feet walking! The entire team is great Big John, Eli, Malissa, Nicole, everyone in that Department! The nurses has helped me address my other medical issues which are fine now! As I said before, your never gonna find nothing 100% perfect, no matter where you go, and every where has issues but I am pleased overall with the care I received at this facility and would recommend it to my family. My room is big roomy & clean, I interact with the staff, the activities are fun ran by Keith the head of Activity Dept."

"I can not say enough for the facility and staff. The nurses and NAs took very good care of my father. I was greeted as I walked through the front doors by a very wonderful lady who has helped me out quite a few times. The facility is very clean~especially the rooms. "Both Mom and Dad have been residents at Ware for several years in the Skilled Nursing unit and assisted living side (Dad)! The love and care provided by the staff is amazing! I’m so happy they are cared for and treated with dignity and respect!"

"Newark Manor is excellent and worked well with Alzheimer’s patients. They’re very caring to mom. It’s clean, and I like where it is; it's near my home and a university, and there are plenty of things to do. The Alzheimer’s Unit is on the third floor, so it’s very secure. "

"I love Cadia Rehabilitation Broadmeadow. My mom was there for six to eight weeks. She loved it. The food was phenomenal. Everything was phenomenal. It was amazing, it's top-notch, and it's a five-star place, but the insurance won't cover it. However, the place was perfect. Doctors, nurses, and therapists, everybody was on point. The room that she got there was beautiful. She was private at the time because it was COVID, and they wouldn't let anybody around at the time. Everything was perfect. The facility is beautiful."

"We toured Millcroft Living. It was excellent. The staff was excellent. They were very spacious. They were very luxurious, but we couldn't afford them, so we moved on. They had a lot of activities for the elders. They showed us around. They had a little lounge and a little happy hour area. They had a communal area where everyone could be together. It was a beautiful place."

"Jenner's Pond was lovely and I had friends there, but it was too far for my family. The apartment was very nice. The staff was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and answered all my questions. The food was excellent. They have trips, people coming in to give lectures, an art show once a year, and a book sale once a year. There was everything that you could possibly want."

"I would actually rate this a zero. The facility is not the cleanest. The front desk is rude. I did encounter some nice people, but not enough to compensate for the bad. Despite these "minor" issues that could be tolerated, this is why I would not put your loved one here. The nurse or tech came to my mom when she rang her bell at night. My mom needed to be changed and was having chest pain. The girl said "what do you want me to do about it, I'm not touching you - you have disease, why do you go to bathroom so much?" (I didn't know about this at that time because she was afraid to tell us thinking they'd be even more mean to her at night when we left) Then, a couple days later I went to see her at night ( I wasn't going to but something told me too) When I got there she said she had been telling them something was wrong with her feeding tube and her throat was burning and she was struggling. I immediately got the nurse after I realized her feeding tube was backing up into her throat and asked that they turn it off and helped her cough it up. At this point she had already started to aspirate on it. I asked that a doctor be called (to which at this time none were there on duty) and 911 was called. She is currently still in the hospital, still fighting. The hospital showed me her bottom side and that this should not have happened and the look on their faces was that of just dismay. I've heard stories about nursing homes but I really never thought it happened or would happen to us. I know each person has their own experience, but ours was not good. Very disappointed that there are people out there like this."

"This facility is the best in Chestertown. They gave my husband hope and a reason for living, the staff is most compassionate, caring and loving we have ever met, the food is the best. I always felt as if the nursing home. was our home, the laughter was so wonderful. Please give this place a chance, it is the very, very best. Unlike other places the nurs.ing staff listens to the patient and the family, they will go out of their to make your stay the best. Thank you to all, for giving my huband and I hope. "

"We looked at Heron Point of Chestertown which is a continuing care community. It has cottages, assisted living apartments, and a full memory care unit on site. So it's full scale. They have benches by the river, they have outdoor seating and many of the cottages have their own decks and porches. The apartments all have decks or balconies. The grounds are very well-landscaped, it's beautiful with walking paths, and it's walking distance to a small rural historical colonial town. The person who showed me around during the tour was energetic and knowledgeable. The rooms have appliances including a washer and dryer. They have a swimming pool and gym, they have exercise classes, clubs, and a library. So there's a lot to do. It's a very active population."

"I toured Glen Meadows Retirement Community. It was very, very nice. It was gorgeous inside, and they made the rooms look like new before each resident moved in. At that time, you actually had to purchase the apartments. It was a three-room apartment consisting of a bedroom, a living room, and a small kitchenette. Then they could move to continuing care from there. The only bad thing about it was that my father is legally blind, and he would have to make his way down this long hall to an elevator, which he could not do because he could not see. However, the place was lovely. The dining room even looked like a restaurant, with all the napkins on the table and you order what you want. The grounds were also lovely. The lady who I dealt with, she was also very lovely. It just wasn't a good fit for my dad."

"I have two sisters who live in Quarryville Presbyterian. Their food is excellent. My younger sister, who is in better condition, is very sociable, so she likes the activities there and tries to stay fit. The other one is getting older and has a little memory problem, but she loves to do puzzles, coloring, and loves to be with people when they sing (she loves to sing). So, she's involved, too. Their studio is very nice. It has two big windows and deep window sills, which I like, because I like plants. They are happy with what they have to offer."

"Oakwood Care Center is a nice facility. The staff is friendly and seem to care about their patients. It’s conveniently located but doesn’t have much parking available. It’s paid for by Medicare right now. The cost is comparable to others."
