"Having a mother in a similar facility. In a million years I never dreamed I would incur the same circumstances. Placed here at Manor Care-Pike Creek was alarmingly depressing to me at first. Although necessary for my recovery I had a preconceived connotation. About nursing homes, I felt all nursing homes were substantially substandard, under staffed. And smelled of urine and other horrific unidentifiable oders. I was truly surprised. The staff here greeted me with warmth and such care. They truly were concerned about my recovery and care. Every now and then the halls were filled with laughter and sounds of children visiting family. The nursing staff attentive to my every need. As well as the CNA's I never had to wait or ask twice for anything. Every one went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. I really cannot express how truly unappreciative I am to evetyone. If I named one I would have to name evetyone. From the Director, Social Workers, Receptionists, CNA's RN's, Dietary, Physical Therapy, OT, NP's, Doctors and a special Thanks to Christina and Nicole! "Millcroft is a very nice facility. The room I was in was very nice. The staff who took care of me was very nice, too. I told them I will be back to live in this facility because I was just there for rehabilitation for a while. The food they serve is OK but not great. I play cards and join in on the other activities. They can improve on the quality of their food. "

"My mother is in Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for rehab. They provide excellent care, but I don't know if I would put my relative in there for long-term care. There's a lot of issues with the facility, but the rehab is phenomenal. The best thing about it would be that they do rehab five to six days a week. They're very intensive and it's great. The regular nursing is wonderful, but the agency nursing is not so much. They don't have food choices, but it's OK. The food is not horrible, but it's not great. It's somewhere in the middle. It's beautiful where it is. It's not a new facility, so it's not super modern, but it's clean. They have a lot of activities there."

"Newark Manor is excellent and worked well with Alzheimer’s patients. They’re very caring to mom. It’s clean, and I like where it is; it's near my home and a university, and there are plenty of things to do. The Alzheimer’s Unit is on the third floor, so it’s very secure. "

"I visited Cokesbury Village and I loved it. It’s a nice area and an upscale facility. The place is well taken care of. The clientele is all professional retirees. It’s one of the nicer ones in the area for sure. It’s comfortable but upscale, so it’s a lot more formal. I was pleased with the visit. "

"Kendal-Crosslands Communities offers a continuum of care which is a plus for me when I need more help. It's a Quaker community, and I find the Quaker values a very comfortable environment. It's physically attractive, but they're low-key not into fancy chandeliers. They say it's spooky but outside, the grounds are attractive. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful. I like the way they stay in touch with prospects like me, they don't overdo it or keep bugging me. On the other hand, they check in now and then with a phone message or an email. It's a balanced marketing approach, I just found them to be professional and dignified but friendly and responsive. The facility itself is not brand new, maybe parts of it are, but the facility as a whole has been there for a while. So it's not as spiffy as some of the newer places. Their activities are pretty much typical of those places. They make arrangements so that you can go into the city for concerts, plays, and visits to museums. They also have onsite facilities for sport and fitness, movies, and bridge."

"My mother-in-law was at Regal Heights Healthcare & Rehab Center. They do rehab. They have doctors on staff. They have a rehab facility. At that time, my mother-in-law had problems with her legs. She had specialized care in the rehab for her legs, and they did a great job there. The facility was well maintained. They checked on her all the time. The food was like in old nursing homes. It was mediocre because you had to feed hundreds of people. So it's not a gourmet restaurant. My mother-in-law's room was pretty nice. We got her in on the long-term care Medicaid."

"The place is nice, however it is a little run down (Pocopson). The food is alright; I have eaten there before with my Grandfather. The staff are very nice people and are friendly with the residents. However, it has a weird smell to the place and the rooms aren't all that great. You can tell they were cheaply made. There are many events such as Bingo there every weekend, and they have a nice place where you can sit down / watch TV when you are eating. They serve lots of things there, and they do put some effort into the cooking. When it is warm outside, residents can sit outside and have a smoke or read the paper. It's a nice green lawn with a small garden and some big trees. Going back inside, the lobby area is pretty small as well. The place has big locked doors in a lot of places so the residents can not get out unless you sign them out and they are healthy enough to leave. "

"About 2 years about my great aunt had a terrible fall and went to stay at Brandywine. Since she was like a grandmother to me growing up I was very concerned about her getting the best care. the second I walked in I knew I had nothing to worry about. Not only was the facility extremely clean and well taken care of, but the staff was incredibly friendly. The place itself was very cheery and had a nice vibe. All of the patients living there looked very happy and were so nice. The workers knew all of the patients names and really seemed to love taking care of and working with the patients. Never once did I ever feel like my aunt wasn't getting the attention she needed. Every time I went to visit her she was happy and very well taken care of. Also, I really liked that they let me bring her dog by to visit her. They also let her decorate her room and make it a lot more homey. Being surrounded by pictured of friends and family really made her feel much more comfortable. I really can't thank them enough for all of the care they gave to my great aunt. "

"Methodist Country House seems to be a very pleasant place. The people seemed to be happy there. The setting was gorgeous. It's surrounded by trees and lovely grounds. It's a location I am familiar with. The rooms were clean, but a little bit smaller than what I have now. They have a variety of activities, which are resident driven. They have clubs and groups that meet, like gardening, music, and painting. The food that I had was good. Everybody was very nice and the facilities were good."

"My mother is living in here; it is very nice. They are very caring, and they seemed to take very good care of her. It’s bright, cheery, and it’s very clean. They are very kind, caring, and there is always somebody close at hand to even just to stop and chat with her and try to boost her spirits, so we have been very happy with it. My mother and another woman are in one room, and the space is good. She loves the food there; it’s very good, and it’s almost like they are going to a restaurant. They have a menu for every meal, and I think they have a couple of choices. They always have a few things just in case; she can always get grilled cheese or soup or something. I think that’s one of the pluses; she really seems to enjoy the food. Every morning they do a session called keep it sharp; they get the residents in a room, read a newspaper, and they discuss different articles in the newspaper. They do karaoke and arts and crafts, and it seems pretty active there."

"My brother-in-law's been placed in Weston Senior Living at Highfield, and it's very good. It has a very homey atmosphere, and we like it a lot. The only problem is that he is soon going to Medicaid, and they're not Medicaid approved yet. We chose it because we liked it a lot, and it was homey. The food and care are good, and overall, my brother-in-law is very happy there. They have people come in to entertain and an activities director who does bingo and trivia and all kinds of games for the residents. They have an exercise room, a music room, and a solarium. "
