"Brookdale Cushing Park was wonderful. The person who gave us the tour was very thorough in giving us information. They showed us several different styles of apartments that might work for my parents. We were able to talk with the people, and it was great. My mother is independent, but my father is not, so they would need assisted living. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful."

"My father is in Blaire House of Milford Assisted Living. One of the reasons we chose it is his age and the fact that it does have a nursing home attached to it if he needs to go from assisted to nursing care. It's clean, and it's smaller. There's always staff present. They're fantastic. They know exactly what's going on with him and they're willing to help with everything. I have not tried their food, but my dad said it was a huge improvement over his rehab. Every time we walk in, activities are going on. They have painting, history trivia, and music trivia, and there is a classic movie shown. My dad is in a shared suite. It has a small kitchen facility with a table, a sink, and a refrigerator, and it has a large bathroom. He and his roommate each have separate bedrooms that are large enough to hold his recliner, his bed, and his bureau table."

"Tatnuck Park at Worcester was beautiful. We liked that one. The person, Ariana, that we met with was very, very helpful. There was plenty of staff. It was very comfortable. Everybody appeared to be very happy there. It's very clean and the residents' rooms were very large and everybody brings their own stuff. We saw a lot of common areas like dining rooms. They had a separate area for a whole kitchen. You can go in and even cook if you want to in there. There were several different rooms that the residents would meet for various reasons. The place was very large."

"We looked at Bridges by EPOCH at Sudbury. It was exceptional. It strictly does memory care and they had round-the-clock nursing. The room was very nice. Mom's going to bring in her own furniture. It looks good, and it looks like it's going to be a nice fit for her since it is a secure facility. They had a beautiful garden with raised beds. Bridges strictly focus on memory care from early dementia to even hospice care. I think it's going to be good and they'll be able to transition her from one phase of her disease to another, and that'll be a good thing for her and a good thing for us, too. They have all sorts of programs, whether it's tactile programs like gardening. When I went in yesterday, they had a three-piece band and some of the residents were dancing. I think that's a really good thing and my mother was a ballroom dancer. I think it's going to be good. They have painting, they do lots of puzzles, and what's nice about Bridges is that my sister can bring her dog in and she'll just sit right on my mom's lap, and I'm sure everyone else there will fall in love with her, too. We as a family can go in and sit and play cards with her and work on a puzzle. We can sit in the garden with her. I know it's more costly at Bridges, but I think the reward is going to be immense. The food smelled really good. Each one of the pods or the wings of the building only has 18 residents, so it's a very small, intimate group and every pod has its own restaurant bistro. My mom is going to have a pureed diet, so I'm not quite sure how that's going to work, but they will take care of that for her. The staff I met was fantastic. It has a dedicated staff and small units and an open concept where people are always being looked at. I like that during the evening, they check on all the residents one time an hour. That was a huge plus for us."
