"My mother is at Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn and has been for the last month. It’s very nice, clean, and brand new. The people are so nice and friendly. She has not been doing well mentally, but it’s been the last couple of weeks that she was really taken of. She’s met some good people there her own age; they’ve really bonded, and she is a completely different person. They have different sizes of apartments, and my mother is in a deluxe studio which has plenty of room. She has a little bit of a memory issue, so it’s a perfect size for her. It fits her bedroom furniture, a lovely little couch, and her television. The room is beautifully appointed. It has a little kitchenette and a big beautiful bathroom. They all have to wear a GPS on them on their necklaces. I hadn’t seen this in other facilities when I looked at them. They have a hair salon and a gym. They had a kitchen where they had cooking classes on Saturdays, and a couple of days this week, they baked holiday cookies. Near the lobby, they have a nice sitting area with a big screen TV, and they have their happy hour there at 4 or 4:30 every day with hors d’oeuvres and entertainment. Then they go into dinner where the dining room is adjoined with this room. On each floor, there are a couple of sitting areas where there’s a couch, chairs, and a television, and you can get out of your room and go sit somewhere else. Everybody stays together. My mother can easily go out around the building. They have walking tours where they’ll put them all on a bus and go over to Holland Pond and Winchester or walk around the pond which is nice. This week, they’ve gone to a play. They have TED talks. They have people that come in and every day, they have an hour to talk about the news and have a discussion. They have a church. They’d take folks who want to go to church to church. They have a rosary for a half hour. They have trivia with the receptionist every day. They do a lot of things to keep the intellect stimulated. "

"My mom is at The Gables at Winchester. The residents are very accommodating and very welcoming. The staff is wonderful, and they are really top-notch. They check up on their residents every night, making sure everything is OK in their apartments. She is in a one-bedroom apartment, and it's a large room. My mother certainly found the right place. My granddaughter, who is 2 years old, loves it there too. She loves eating in the dining room. We had lunch there, and their meals are really good. My mother is on a salt-restricted diet, and they adhere to the specifications made by her physician. "

"Sunrise at Lynnfield had a lot of activities and pleasant staff. We went there for a tour. It was a very nice place. However, location was not convenient. My mom does not drive on the highway, and it would require highway driving for her if she wanted to go out. They showed us the different rooms, and comparing it to where my parents were, it was not as spacious for a couple coming from a home and going into assisted living. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. "

"Windsor Place of Wilmington is a clean and friendly place. My aunt's room is ideal for her because it's spacious. The food is good, and the dining room is very appealing and done very nicely. She can get her hair and nails done once a week. They have a gym, daily activities, and a bus for field trips. The staff has been very good."

"It is in a good location for me to get to. I just like the way it was set up, and the apartments are really, really nice. The person who showed me around was too fabulous. She showed me different setups and everything. I think just the locations of the rooms that were available were going to work out for my mom. My mom needs to be closer to where the dining hall is and the amenities within the room where they do activities. I need something a little closer, but it's all done, all brand new, so it's a beautiful building. There was a gym and salon, and activities throughout the day."

"I really liked Sunrise Assited living. My grandmother was a resident there for over 4 years in their Memory Care wing. My grandmother was suffering from demntia and the staff at sunrise helped us through every level of her care from the very beginning to the end. The took wonderful care of my grandmaother but they also took wonderful care of us. They were attentive to our questions and concerns and took the time to explain the ins and outs of her diease. The facilities were always clean and welcoming and they invited personal touches to their patients rooms to make them and us feel more at home. They hosted special events through out the year and durign holiday and invited the families to particiipate with their loved ones in these activities. They were also extrememly responsible. Always makeing sure to call if anything out of the ordinary happened. Such as a bad night, change in appitiet or concerns from the Doctor who came to visit regularly. I think they only thing that I didn't like about the facility was it had a very high turn over for nurses aids and this made it difficult to get to know and establish a rapport with the people who had the most interaction with my grandmother on a day to day basis. "

"Brigham House seemed very nice and very appealing. I was looking for a short-term stay for a month or so, but they required a longer term, so it didn't fit with what I was looking for. I would've picked it. The dining area was beautiful and looked like a 5-star restaurant. They had a calendar full of things to do. It was an older school converted to an assisted living, and it's about 110 to 120 years old."

"The Residence at Watertown Square was nice. The staff was good. The rooms were clean and neat. We had lunch there and the food was quite nice. I didn't go into the residents' dining area because I was only a visitor, but they put me in a small room outside. Everything looked wonderful. Nothing against what they had. Everything looked wonderful but small. There wasn't any garbage on the floors or anything, but I haven't seen them do a daily pickup of laundry or anything."

"I went to visit Benchmark Senior Living at Waltham Crossings. I like almost everything about the facility. What I could see, I was pleased about it. I met one staff and I talked to the manager. He was good. He was very helpful and very informative. There were some activities, but I didn't see them. I saw the dining room, the rooms, and the visiting room, but I didn't look at all activities. The dining room was set up correctly and nicely. They have a garden outside. I saw a room, and it was very sizable, good, and comfortable."

I liked that there seemed to be a piano concert and lively people enjoying what was going on. It’s a diverse community. They mentioned several different kinds of religious activities going on. "I visited Susan Bailis. That place was to die for with a cute setup. The room was a one-bedroom with a living room. The people were very nice. The sitting area was very quaint, and it smelled good in there. It’s a fairly new place. The staff was excellent, especially the woman at the front door. They had underground parking, so visitors could stay as long as we want. I love it."

"I liked Providence House Assisted Living. It was bright, and it was accessible. There was parking there. The staff was very nice. It's very clean. I was surprised by how bright it was. It didn't feel like a nursing home. They had things for the people to participate in. They have transportation if you don't have a car to go shopping three times a week. There are studios and apartments. They have a hair salon. They were playing Wheel of Fortune. They have tons of puzzles, and they have a library. Providence House is my favorite."
