"I looked at The Branches of Marlboro, and the biggest complaint I had was that for the price range, you end up with a shared room with another resident, which really reduces the size of your unit. They do offer a much more extensive assisted living though, but you're paying a price for that because you're assessed when you come in. I didn't think my sister was going to benefit from that type of care in her current condition since it isn't so bad that she needs that kind of care. However, I thought they were really quite competitive, they were very attentive, and provided me with everything I asked for. I would recommend this place if you have a person who needs assisted living. It might be a good place to look."

"We took a tour of Sunrise of Leominster's assisted living facility, and it was nice. It was very helpful, and the facility was very clean. It was a nice place. With the rooms, you had to supply your own bed and furniture, and I didn't really care for that too much. The person who gave the tour was good."

"We were very impressed with the Manor on the Hill. The location was spotlessly clean, and everyone was really nice. I loved the fact that they had individual rooms, and they call them apartments. I wanted to sign up for one. It really is an excellent place. No matter where we went, the staff was pleasant, smiling, and helpful. It was very nice. I did not sample the food, but I was talking to a wife whose husband is there, and she said the food was fabulous. They did offer snacks, but we had just had lunch. When you come in, you come into the dining room, and it's huge. Everyone comes to the dining room for their meals, unless you're sick, then they serve you in your room. It was welcoming when you just walked right through the door; it was very impressive. Then you went down a little way, and to the right was the memory section, and to the left were all these rooms. We went into a couple of the rooms, and they were very nice. They would supply bedding and stuff for you, or you could bring in your own furniture and make it very homey."

"I thought The Branches of Framingham was perfect. The people were very friendly and outgoing. The facility was clean. They have a lot to offer, and the staff was very friendly, warm, and it was inviting. They have a gym, and there's a ceramic class. People were eating in the dining room, so things were going on during that time. They did get me a nice coffee cake to take home, which I haven't tried yet. I thought that was very nice. The staff was great. It was perfect, and it looked great to me. It was an older place, but it was kept up and maintained beautifully. It was just warm and friendly."

"We had a good visit with Benchmark Senior Living at Leominster Crossings. They seemed to have a very nice place set up for that. The rooms were a little bit on the smaller side, that was the only thing that was a little bit of a disappointment. They allow furniture, but we would have to obtain smaller furniture for her. The staff seemed to be very caring, and conscientious, doing what they're supposed to be doing. They were busy doing their jobs. I didn't really have the chance to interact with them too much other than to say hello. We had a quick tour and talked to the director in charge of admissions. It's very clean, very welcoming, and homey looking."

"My aunt has been placed into Orchard Hill in Sudbury. I like their food, but my aunt does not. I also like that they have a lot of activities. They do serve 3 meals a day. They also offer bingo, board games, boggle, and crossword puzzles, and they have a van that takes people out for part of the day where they do shopping or they go on picnics to the pond. The staff is willing to listen to requests, but it doesn't happen overnight. Communication is definitely my aunt's complaint."

"The entire staff at Atria Draper Place have made my dad feel at home from the moment he first walked through the door. The difficult transition from independent living to assisted living was made so much easier for him because of the exceptionally caring and supportive people who live and work there. Moving to Draper Place has removed him from a lonely, isolated at risk living situation to a place where he is immersed in a safe and supportive environment with the opportunity for daily social interactions and as much or as little assistance as he needs."

"The one that I went to personally visit was the Brookdale Cushing Park. It's a fantastic facility for the seniors. It is also good pricewise. The rooms are a bit tiny, and they have to do some updates. The rest is fantastic. The lady who showed me around was just kind and very informative. Everybody seemed to be friendly over there. They have a beautiful dining area, and I think it's newly renovated. They have activities for the senior citizens. They have a lot of activities; I was pretty impressed. Because it's facing the pond, it has a beautiful park area where they could walk during the summer and springtime. I'm sure it's beautiful, and everything will be blooming. They have a beautiful area where families can come, congregate, and have dinner or lunch with their loved ones. It was pretty nice; I liked it. The one I visited was independent living, but they have options in case the individual needs further help or extra care as they go old there. They have assisted living and memory care. I spoke to a couple of the older ladies over there, and they seemed pretty happy. The only reason I didn't give them 5 is because the room that I saw at that time, the carpet needed to be changed, and even the stove needed to be changed. The staff said she would do it in case my mother-in-law was interested in staying. They were pretty adaptable. I saw the menu and it seemed pretty interesting. It wasn't a boring menu, but I didn't get the chance to taste the food. Because it's an independent living section of the complex, they have a fridge and a stove. The bathrooms seemed to be pretty safe, and they had all the necessary safety rails. There was an alarm system in case the individual falls down. They had cabinets for storage, a closet in the room, and a window that gives them enough light. It was livable. The room that they showed me, another person had just left; it used to be occupied. It's a nice place for somebody who likes to go on walks because they have a beautiful lake on the other side of the road (which they can have access to). It turns into a frozen pond in the winter. It's a huge lake, and they had swans on it. Where the facility is located, the ground itself is beautiful. There's a huge park full of trees and walkways. I visited it during the winter, so everything is kind of gray in the winter."

"Blaire House of Milford Assisted Living had this personal touch because it looked more like a home. They were doing a little Easter Festival with an Easter banquet while we were there. The staff seemed OK. The head nurse was doing office work at the time, which concerned me because some of the staff might be spread a little thin. The place seemed clean, from what I saw. I think they need to improve on their staffing. The one-bedroom that I saw was average with a view of the back of the water tower from the railroad track, but it was OK."

"I have gone to the Residence at Valley Farm, and it was very nice. It is a little more expensive from my point of view. The food was good. It seemed like everybody was doing very well. Once, I saw a show where they had a group over there. Right now I am totally independent and I don’t have a cane or a walker, but it seemed to me that they had more of these kinds of people around there. I’ve been on a tour; it was very nice, and the person doing it was very nice. And then, I was there for dinner once, and that was very good. They have some kind of hospitality time where they have drinks, and when I was there, they were lined up getting themselves over there quickly because they get really excited about this one. They do this like at 3 o’ clock in the afternoon. "

"They have assisted living and a new memory impairment unit. I toured it recently and know some of the staff there. It's fairly isolated--well outside of Boston in what's called Metro West--and it can be tough to get there without a car. The facility is very attractive. It was built out of an old mansion in a woodsy, picturesque area. Most of the rooms are private, but they do have a few large shared rooms. The direct care staff is very high quality--very New England. The dementia unit was just opened a few months ago, and they brought in a skilled program director to run it. The food is similarly excellent, and they cater to individual tastes. Activities are also good--varied and designed to cater to the educated resident population. "

"My wife has been in Sunrise of Wayland for a while now. This is a place where she'd be most satisfied and feel at home. She has her own room and bathroom. They have activities for her during the day. They have bingo, and they go out to the veranda. They care for the patients, and she is satisfied. She is taken care of as well as possible. She is in a locked down dementia area, and the service appeared to be very good. "
