The Best Assisted Living Communities in Bristol County, RI

"Greenwich Farms was the very first one that I visited. I was so impressed with the entrance, the lobby, and the staircase. It was beautiful in appearance -- much like a hotel. Very roomy. I was overwhelmed at the beauty of it and the location surprised me. I had no idea it's in the back of an industrial park. Even out on the grounds, in the parking lots and the walking paths and the front entrance, it's so glamorous, you don't realize where you are. I've lived in Warwick for over 26 years and I've never had an inkling there was anything like that in Warwick. The people were sitting in a reading area or working on computers so you don't want to interrupt them. They have the game room with a bar there. They have snacks like happy hour. They have their own transportation vehicles or a couple of vans that take people everywhere. They have some activities off the premises such as going to restaurants and doctors' appointments, banking and shopping trips -- all arranged by the facility's own vehicles. One special feature is that they have one meeting room that is dedicated to the military. They have all the military residents meet there whether it's once a month or twice a month. It's a big room, just like a library. There are pictures on the wall as well as banners and flags of different military units. It was quite interesting. "

"I visited The Phyllis Siperstein Tamarisk RI Assisted Living Residence. I chose it for myself and my wife because it's closer to where I live. Also, I know people who have gone there. It's a beautiful place. The entire place is beautiful. It's clean and has no old person smell. The food is good. They have a gym and a library, but I haven't visited all the areas yet. The staff has been excellent. The building itself is spectacular, and it is organized."

"My sister moved into All American Assisted Living at Warwick. The place is great. It was the cleanest place I had seen. They handled all the care I needed for my sister. The staff is fabulous and very, very helpful. The food is very good. My sister's eating three meals a day plus snacks. When she was at home, she wasn't eating at all. She has a private room, and it's a great size. The grounds are very well-kept, very well decorated, and very clean. They have a lot of things for activities. They go out for rides. They were picking apples one day. They play cards. She's always active there. They have like 10-12 activities per day, so she can pick whatever she wants to do."

"My sister was there a few weeks recuperating from a fall at home. Everyone there were so passionate and caring. She had a beautiful room , she enjoyed all the meals that were served and had many social activities to join in if she was interested. She was very happy there and we were so relieved to have her being taken care of until she felt better to return home. "

"Epoch on Blackstone is very clean and very nicely decorated. It is in a convenient location because it is close to me. The facilities are very nice. They are all very pleasant, and they help you out. They have activities all day long. It is close to a park, close to the neighborhood, and close to a hospital. It is for my father, and it is a big adjustment coming from New York. "

"The Highlands on the East Side was similar to the other place we went to. They use their own staff, they don't go outside for extra help. The rooms were a good size, we got a nice tour. They were having lunch while we were there, but we didn't eat. The patio area was nice, where they could sit outside and stuff. So I did like that facility. The staff was very nice. There was a nurse that did an assessment to see where my mother's cognitive level was and stuff, and that was helpful. Everything was very clean. I think the staff was interactive with the residents, and also with us as we were going through."

"We chose Capitol Ridge because it was recommended by Caring.com and somebody called and gave me the details. Then, someone from Capitol Ridge came and checked my mom if they could provide her needs. The staff were very friendly, kind and they knew everybody's name. The rooms were very big and spacious. They had different activities like field trips, concerts, physical fitness programs, and many more. There was also a room where they watched sports programs, a library where they were taught how to use the computer. The food was also very good and she liked it very much. My mother was very happy there. "

"Blenheim-Newport is very good for my mom. She feels worthwhile doing things with other people; they give her jobs to do, so she feels like she's giving back. Her furniture is there, so it gives her security that things are still sort of the same. She has a one-bedroom with a galley kitchen, living room, a bedroom with plenty of storage, and a bathroom. It's sort of a hotel room. The grounds are very nice with the flowers and trees in bloom, and the pricing is competitive. "

"Brookdale Centre of New England was a little older, but it was very neat and clean. I could tell it was an older facility, but that didn't bother me so much. The staff was very, very helpful. I actually had a couple of people chime in. I had an activity director who talked to me, and I had a woman give me the whole tour. They were all very helpful, and they answered all of our questions. I enjoyed the place; I believe it' s a really wonderful place. It's just that my mom would not sit there. The dining area was wonderful, and they sent us home with some yummy brownies that were to die for. I was like, "Oh my gosh, it's like living in a restaurant here." The dining facilities looked very good. They were having an exercise program upstairs in the memory care portion of it. They had just finished with some live entertainment that was in there, and they continued with songs and singing afterwards. It looked like it was pretty active. It was nice. The reason for a four is that they didn't go on to nursing care. They only had memory and assisted. I think it would have been better if they continued on into a nursing program."

"The tour I had at Brookdale Attleboro was great. The staff was really friendly. We met someone at reception. She met us right away then she introduced us to Karen, the director of admissions. We got a tour of the common areas and I thought they were beautiful. I was very, very impressed with everything, including the landscaping outside the building and when you first walked into the entrance (the reception area). I thought the dining room was beautiful. They showed us another room where families could kind of gather and everything about it was very nice. If that was within our budget, I would have been very happy to send my dad there. I think that would have been my first choice. We talked to Karen for about 45 minutes and even after she found out that that was not going to be an option for us, she still just gave us so much more information to help us make a good decision for my dad that was so helpful. We got a lot of invaluable information from her. So I appreciated that. They offered coffee and water when we walked in, which I thought was very nice, but we declined."

"Apartments are oversized. Decorated nicely. Food is delicious."

"I was a resident of Whaler's Cove Assisted Living. It was good. The air conditioning was included and also the hot water. They've done my laundry and that was included in my insurance. It was a nice place to live. My apartment was a one-bedroom. They have one and two-bedroom apartments. They have lots of activities just like in a nursing home. The staff was very good."

"Smithfield Woods Senior Living was a beautiful facility. That staff was very kind, and the hard part for us was the price was not what we were looking for, but they were friendly. It had nice facilities and lots of options. There was laundry and a gym, and it was clean."

"I went to see the assisted living facility of All American Assisted Living at Raynham. The residents were all very mobile, except for the people who were all asleep on the front porch in the rocking chair, which was absolutely awesome. They were out there enjoying the sun, and it was one of those nice warm days in October, so most of them were asleep. Everybody was taken care of, and everything just looked perfect. The decor was wonderful. I'm sure they hired somebody really wonderful to do the matching of the decor, because it works. They had everything you'd ever want. They had rooms for physical fitness, art, playing games, reading, and just about anything you could think of, and they had a place for it."
