"Brigham House is in a residential area, which is two blocks from my mother's house. We went in, and we enjoyed everything. We talked to the people living there, and they seemed to really like the place. There's a nice big park there, and we can wheel her out. People can come, visit, and walk through the park. The school is also right here, so you feel like there are people around. She's happy there. They put on little shows every now and then. They have people come in with music, and they have animals come and visit. They have bingo nights and a little bit of everything, which keeps her busy. My brothers have positive things to say about it and so does my mother. "

"My daughters and I went around with the nurse and we decided unanimously on Waltham Crossings (The Harbor Program). We feel this offers the best level of treatment, which my wife needs. We feel that the caregivers per person are of the highest ratio, and they are very kind and lovely people. They really care for her. My wife is in a shared bedroom with another woman, but she has her own bathroom. It has a closet, and we furnished it with items that came from home. We brought her a bed, a recliner chair, and we decorated it with some stuffed animals and family pictures. So, it is a very comfortable place. I stay with her on Sunday evenings, and the people come to change her padding every two hours, and she sleeps very well. I eat lunch and supper there. I am very pleased with the portion sizes, which are proper for people who are not very physically active, and also with the selection of the food. They give the seven food groups every day. Since she has Type 2 diabetes, we ask them to limit the sweets intake, like pastries and candies. Some of the people are not able to feed themselves, and after everybody has eaten in the dining room, the staff goes around and feeds all the people who have not eaten their full meal. It is a guarded facility and you cannot get in and out without a digital reader. We are very happy with how she's being taken care of, as she has other physical problems related to her Alzheimer's. They have activities like movies and live and recorded music. They have a recreational room where they all gather. They have some kind of engagement or stimulation all day long. "

"I already found a place for my dad. I've already signed an agreement and we're all set. It is called Sunrise of Lynnfield. This was our choice because of its proximity. It is close and it is a very nice place. They have very beautiful accommodations. They also offer a shuttle for their residents. "

"The staff is very nice at Prospect House. I've been there twice. I have been working with the staff and marketing director over there for about a month now. The latter has been more than helpful even beyond what I initially asked for. The staff has been extremely helpful, very kind and compassionate. "

"I toured Evans Park at Newton Corner. I liked it a lot. The staff is typically there like seven years average, and that is important. It is a lively space with lots of activities. You have your choice of dining time. It is a place that I'm considering for my aunt once we know what it is she needs. The staff who showed me around took time with me. He introduced me to the director, and he answered all my questions. The facilities were a little older than some of the new ones. But they have a patio there."

"Sunrise of Newton is smaller than the others I went to. It's a newer facility, and they're still working things out. It was nice, the rooms were average, the food was fine. The staff member was very knowledgeable, she had a friendly demeanor, and she knew her stuff. They had a theater, and they were doing activities in the memory center. Everything was clean."

"My good friend lived in the Assisted Living facility at Providence House for about two years before needing memory care. Providence House was a wonderful, caring community. The nurses, aides, director, and staff were all wonderful and treated my friend with care, dignity and respect. She loved the many daily activities, her room was comfortable and clean with good light pouring in the windows. We were able to add amenities (laundry, extra help, etc.) seamlessly. I also appreciated the care we received as friends. PH staff were compassionate and lovely to deal with. I'm forever grateful to them. "

"Scandinavian Living Center was an absolutely lovely facility. Great staff, beautiful, lots of recreational and educational opportunities, and good food. It had beautiful rooms, small, intimate settings. You name it, they have it: music, dance, games, outside speakers coming in, and community organizations that meet in the building so the seniors can participate. You basically have a little apartment with a little bit of a kitchenette, but they had communal meals too."

"I toured Susan Bailis Assisted Living. It's centrally located in downtown Boston, and its facilities are clean and well-maintained. The units are small, and the prices are high for the area. The staff was great. They seemed close to the residents."

"Benchmark was lovely; there's a beautiful level for the normal people, and there's the jail for people with dementia, but I did not find Benchmark to be a jail. The upper floors were very nice and clean, and people were treated with respect. They had chairs, flowers, and pictures, and it was very similar to downstairs, but more controlled. The tour person was lovely and she still emails me and invites me to talks. She's a very good representative of Benchmark. "

"I highly recommend them. It is local and they are very friendly, very caring, and supportive. My mom is in memory care and our move-in experience was excellent. They were very helpful. She seems to enjoy the meals. It is very clean and they have excellent housekeeping. If there's any issue that comes up, they are very quick to call. They offer bingo, sing-alongs, and movies, too."
