"Wilmington Health Care had a pleasant setting. The facility was clean. It was new, but it had nice grounds around it, and it was excellent. The room had a closet; it was a double room, and it was spacious for the two people in there with a bathroom. What really impressed us were the location and the staff. The location was really good for us, and the staff was pleasant. They were caring. "

"My mother is in Meadow View. The rooms have two people to a bedroom, and they are very clean. The nursing staff is fantastic, very friendly, and answered all of my questions. She is in the Alzheimer’s section, and she loves it there. They’re always there helping them and keep them going continuously, 15 hours a day. They do puzzles, drawing, coloring, and guessing games. The residents like the food. "

"My father-in-law is now at Woburn Nursing Center. The location is very nice, and it is very close to us. However, there really isn't much in the way of grounds at the parking lot all around the building. The rooms are very nice though. They have recently updated all of their rooms. I do have one suggestion for them. They need to have the television speakers come through a remote on the bed so that there are no blaring, competing TVs in the same room. Most of the staff is wonderful, but there are a few bad apples. There's a 10% nighttime crew that perhaps aren't as gentle and not as attentive as they should be. For instance, my father-in-law is on oxygen and it is imperative that he have that because of his COPD. However, he was left for approximately six hours without oxygen. His oxygen level went so low that he ended up going to the hospital; that was strictly due to their negligence."

"My siblings and I never thought we'd place our mother in a nursing home, but here we are. It got to the point where we simply had no choice; she couldn't take care of herself and we lacked the ability to take care of her ourselves. Knowing how much she valued independence, I felt somewhat guilty about the decision, but, in just a short period of time, that guilt evaporated...completely. In just two weeks, my mother became totally immersed in her new setting. Greenwood is a house, with a large lawn and beautiful grounds, very similar to where my mother was living previously. They even gave her a plot of land to grow tomatoes and basil because they knew how much she loved to garden. It wasn't long before she was talking about Greenwood as "her" home. It's like one big happy family there, and the residents and staff get to know each resident very well; it's a very intimate environment. My mother is very comfortable. She's happy. It's been years since I've seen her laugh so loud. She is an eager participant in the daily activities, and enjoys the close friendships she has developed. Greenwood brought her back to life. Finally, in an industry where there’s much turnover in personnel, Greenwood stands out as being quite different. There’s great stability. The Administrator has been there for more than 20 years and the key department heads typically 10+. Many of the nurses I met had been there for 10 and 15 years. Some more than 20. They all seemed quite vested."

"My mother in law is at this facility and i appreciate everything that they do for her. They take the time to spend quality time with the patients and reassure them. "

"I recently visited a resident at Tuell nursing home. In general, I thought Tuell Nursing home is excellent. The grounds of the facility are minimal but well kept. The center is located on a main road in Melrose, MA and is easily accessible by car. I utilized street parking and you do have to be careful because it is located on a busy street. Upon walking into the nursing home you feel like you have stepped into someone's house, not a nursing home. Since it was my first visit I was a little confused about where to check in and find the resident I was looking for. Despite my initial confusion I was immediately greeted warmly and given assistance to find the resident. The staff of the facility are responsive, everyone who passed by offered me assistance. There did not seem to be much in the way of common areas as it is a very small facility. There is a lovely patio area out back that is surrounded by trees. The dining room is small but very comfortable; it also has more of a homey feel than an institutional feel. The shared residents' rooms are large and have a home-like feel. I noticed the resident's room was a bright color and there were large wooden closets for each resident to use. There were personal effects displayed on the tray-table. While I was there, I noticed that the facility staff demonstrated patience and it was clear they had developed a caring and friendly relationship with a patient of mine who has dementia. I have never had trouble trying to reach a resident via the phone, you call a resident phone line and the staff answers it and brings it right to the resident. Overall, Tuell nursing home is a wonderful place, and I would recommend it to everyone, especially those who are looking for good quality long-term care without the typical nursing home feel. "

"My father has been at Epoch for about seven weeks now. Not the best looking place but good food and great staff. My family visit morning, noon and night and we have not experienced anything negative with staff members. The important thing to us is that he is treated well and fed. They offer many recreations that any and all patients can participate in. They invite family members to join in the festivities which I think shows the patient that we are all family. That is a good feeling - family is the world to most people and Epoch in my opinion tries to create that family feeling. "

"My mother is getting the care she needs at The Elmhurst HealthCare. It's expensive, but it's great. They're doing a good job, and she's doing well there. They're caring for her medically and mentally. The staff is very nice, very attentive to the patients, willing to help, and not overwhelmed by the situation. She's comfortable in a shared room, which is right across from the nurse's station. She's there by herself, and it's working out great. It's much more manageable. We chose the room that's closer to a nurse's station, so that if there were any issues about falling, it will be addressed there. For the amount of care she's getting, the price is not terrible."

"This facility has been very comfortable. Everyone has been so concerned about my welfare. I have no complaints about the food or attention that I have received. The nurses have been very considerate and helpful. My family and I have loved our stay here. "

"Hectic, dirty, obvious that there's no management, whoever the big boss guy was he didn't care to greet us, to busy fighting with patient. Run."

"I would definitely say that this facility/nursing home is a great place for the elderly and people who are unable to live on their own. I personally can rate this facility due to the fact that my grandfather has gone here many times after his surgeries as well as recently due to his lack of strength. The staff is very kind towards their patients and they treat everyone with respect. I also liked that fact that each day they have something fun and exciting planned for the patients such as singing, bingo, movie nights, and themed dances. The food they have here is also very nutritious and it varies each day which gives for a nice change for the patients. Finally, the decor of the nursing home has a very comfortable and warm feeling the moment you walk in with a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling at the entrance and a small library with comfy chairs and plenty of books for the patients to read. "

"My wife stayed in Life Care Center for a month for her rehab. They had 24-hour around the clock nursing assistance. They provided physical therapy and occupational therapy. The staff was reasonable. They were very courteous and very sympathetic to the patient's needs. The people were there to help. We were well satisfied with the facility. "

"I saw Harriett and Ralph Kaplan Estates. It was clean and modern. We saw the dining area, and we saw a couple of rooms; they were fine. The staff member who showed us around, was nice, cheerful, and polite. However, it was not compatible with my mother because it was a Jewish center and my mom is Christian."

"I used to work at Brooksby Village Retirement Community. I worked in the assisted living building, Renaissance Gardens. I worked in wait staff, giving residents the appropriate food for their needs. Brooksby Village is an expensive assisted living facility, however, it is very clean and friendly. Even though the food is not the best in Renaissance Gardens, it is delicious in the independent living restaurants. The bedrooms in Renaissance Gardens are pretty small, with just a bed, desk, and television, but they are very clean. There is a nice living room, where a staff member puts together an activities calendar. There are activities such as baking, playing bingo, and watching movies in this room. On the independent living side there is a lot you can do. There are buses that bring residents on trips, there are pool tables, and shuffle board. Even though it is a nice place to live, nursing staff can be a tad bit lacking when a resident needs them. It can sometimes take a while until they help you. Most of them are pretty lazy. "
