The Best Nursing Home Communities in Hillsborough County, NH

"I have a family member who is located in the Alzheimer's Department here at this nursing home. Although I am personally not comfortable with having her at the facility everybody seems very caring, friendly and involved with their patients. One thing I did notice as I visit more and more is that a lot of the LNA'S and nurses know all of the patient's name which is very nice to see. Although I am not there everyday so I don't know everything that takes place but I would appreciate it if more and more people would write reviews "

"My mom was at the Hanover Hill Health Care Center and they took good care of her. I was there all the time, like almost every day, and I think they've done a good job. It was pretty homey, and I was satisfied with the care we got. They had a hairdresser and people coming in to do their nails. They also had games, puzzles, and afternoon entertainment, so it was good, and my mom was happy there."

"Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center doesn't have the glitz and glamour that the other place does. It's a nursing home. They are older buildings. What's nice is that mom is very involved in her faith, and the Catholic chapel there is wonderful, and that's more important to my mom than some of the things that they offer at the other place, like happy hour. The room is more hospital-like or dorm-like. My mom did rehab at Mount Carmel, and she liked it. The rehab was great. My mother said, "They won't let me stay because they only have rehab and then nursing." I'm like, "You're only assisted living mom, and right now you're OK on your own." She was there for a month. If she liked it, that says a lot, because she is usually pretty judgmental."

"Saint Teresa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has a homey feeling. It didn't look like a hospital. It looked like a home. The facility is very clean. The staff was very informative and very nice. It is owned by Catholic Charities, and they have five different locations. They had two different dining rooms, and they were very nice. They had a beauty salon, a library, and an outdoor area, which was very nice with bird feeders, picnic tables, and umbrellas. They have PT for exercise."

"Courville provided a very pleasant experience for my Mother in Law who was staying there and they went well beyond expectations to accommodate the family visiting. For her Birthday, they set us up with a private lounge room and we had 20+ guests. I never saw anything that was unsanitary. They have some TV's in nice rooms for their residents. My only complaint was that at times they were short staffed, which caused a long wait for assistance. Not very good when someone needed assistance to the restroom. "

"I have visited so many friends here over the past year that I had to leave a review! It’s a wonderful place full of love and laughter! All the office staff is always friendly and the nurses are extra attentive! Clean! And food always smells wonderful !!"

"I toured The Baldwin. They don't have much available at this point, but I got the last unit in the level I wanted. Even though I already put in my deposit, I went for a tour to see more of the community and get more feedback. The Baldwin was amazing. I could not believe just how wonderful everything was. It was beyond my wildest dreams. I have never seen better staff anywhere. I dealt with several staff members there, and they all were just beyond what I expected. We were in their coffee shop-type section of the place. I had a lobster roll there and it's one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. It's good-sized and loaded with lobsters. The building was spotless and beautiful. It's brand new. They opened just a few months ago. It's clean. I never expected to find a place like this."

"My Mother was a resident of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center. She unfortunately had CA and the staff were so kind and caring. She had a favorite nurse she called Princess. I will never forget her impact on a dying women who was proud and hated to ask for help. I will always be grateful for Princess and how she and the LNA's made my Mother's last months and days feel like her family. She would tell me how "wonderful" they were to her. I was a family member who realized nothing is perfect, and neither is it in your own home where you might take care of your own family member. Thank you Princess! "

"Located in Nashua, New Hampshire, Courville Assisted Living facility did wonders for my family and loved one staying there. When I visited my grandmother here the staff was clean, friendly and professional. They always had spic and span rooms, activities for all, and a nurse when ever one was needed. The food wasn't the best however, my grandmother always had something made soft that she would enjoy. Sadly, my grandmother lost her long battle with illness but the people over at Courville have my appreciation because I know they made my grandmother happy till the end. "

"I toured this place on a late afternoon. Staffing was scarce. Patients looked unkept and the overall vibe was poor. I could over hear staff complaining about how “short staffed” they were ... and it was visually dirty."

"My father has moved into Derry Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. I only chose them because my dad fell. He was in the hospital, so he had to go for rehab. As far as rehab, it's a good facility. It's nice, and not like a normal nursing home. It's only got 62 beds, so that was one of the selling points for me, that it wasn't 300 beds like all the other places I've heard of. It's a small community, I would say. Their staff is phenomenal, I love the LNAs and the nurses, they are very helpful. I haven't tried the food, but my dad loves it. In terms of value for money, it's not bad. I think some places rank higher for cost. This is not bad, it's up to $283 a day. Some places are $300 a day. Most places are going to be comparable to that. Everything's expensive nowadays. I do like the place. They do have physical therapy and salon services. They have activities, typical, like if you would have been in long-term care. They probably do things more on the outside during the summer, probably put trips and things, but not right now while it's cold. I'm pretty happy with them so far."

"I recently had occasion to spend 4 wks at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehab -Greenbriar (KTCR-Grn). When I arrived, I had a violent case of intestinal issues and a very infected Venus Statis Ulcer on my right calf which I'd let go for over a year. The very qualified, experienced & kind doctors, nurses & aides on all 3 shifts provided me with excellent care. In fact, the wound care I received for the ulcer was so thorough, the plastic surgeon felt no skin graft would be necessary. Also, I had tied myself to an electric motorized power chair for over 2 yrs and could barely stand up on my own. Today, I can stand to do my dishes, vacuum and cook with only the use of manual walker for some support. As I continue on my road to independence from the "chair", I owe so much to the physical & occupational therapists at KTCRGrn who worked so dedicatedly with and for me. And during what could seem like hours of empty time in my room, the Activities ladies would show up with their smiles and invitations to join a group for Bingo or a musical performance in the Main Lobby. They would pick me up in my room for the activity and deliver me back, too. I never felt alone. I KNEW always that help of any kind at any time of the day or night was a close as my "call button". I don't want to omit mentioning the laundry staff who brought up my clean clothes with a cheerful greeting. If my parents were still alive, I wouldn't hesitate to place them in the care of these exceptional professionals at KTC&R-Grn. "

"The rehab of Fairview Nursing Home was wonderful. They pushed her and got her to the goals she needed to be at to come home. As far as the care, they are understaffed and they need to have more private rooms. She has the only private room on the floor. People who are just there for rehab would prefer a private room, I know I would. We requested it and someone had just left so she went in. She liked the people and they took good care of her. "
