"All American Assisted Living looked like it would be a very nice place. It was just a little bit expensive. They've got all the conveniences there. They have their own medical staff and your personal grooming is all taken care of right there. The rooms were very nice. They were fairly roomy. Their dining area was very clean and spacious. The staff was very informative. The building is approximately two years old."

"We chose Stonebrook Village at Windsor Locks for my mother-in-law because she's lived in that area and is comfortable there. The staff has been wonderful, everyone is just wonderful and welcoming. Her room there is very nice and very clean. There's been a maintenance guy there that's been helping her, there's a nurse and a house-keeper; it's great. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I'm very happy with the care that she's getting and I'm very happy that the move went very smoothly. They have tons of activities. Every day they have activities, plus they have a spa there, a movie room, plus there's beautiful seating outside. It's great."

"A kosher cuisine was a must for my mom when I moved her up from Florida to be close to me, so I was very relieved to find that the only kosher facility in the area was also one of the most beautiful. My mom has been living at SummerWood for close to 12 years now! She has been very happy here and she is well taken care of. She is kept engaged continually with interesting activities and has many friends. SummerWood truly was the ideal solution for our family. "

"I toured The Arbors Assisted Living at Chicopee and I thought it was fantastic. It was very clean, the staff you see there were in there checking on the patients and just talking to them in general. I thought that was nice. The person who gave the tour was fantastic, she was like a counselor or social worker. She was very knowledgeable of everything when I explained to her about my parents. She's like, "Oh yeah, we have that care right here." I didn't try the food but they offered me something. They have an exercise room and they were doing that, and some were sitting. They gave me a schedule by the month of the different activities, or what they were going to do because it's never the same. They try to keep things different so people like them better. When we toured around, they let me see an entire apartment. It's a 2-bedroom with a living area and a kitchen. Then they let me walk around and look at the whole apartment. The facility is really beautiful."

"We chose Mason Wright for my mother, and she's set to move in there. We toured it in person, and it's beautiful, everything you could ever want. It's nice and pretty, sunny, and they've got a lot of activities."

"My mom is in Heritage Woods now. They are very nice and attentive. She likes the food and the dining setup. Her apartment is big enough for her. She is comfortable there. "

"My grandmother was at this facility initially for short term rehab. The nursing staff was pleasant most of the time and the physical therapist was phenomenal but overall we had a very bad experience. For the 3 months she was there we made multiple phone calls on a weekly basis trying to talk the overseeing physician- not once was our call returned even when we begged to speak to her. We never met her or even talked to her once during my grandmother's stay despite all our efforts. Additionally we also had much difficulty discussing her care with the advanced providers who didn't seem to make time to talk with us. She was transitioned to long-term care and a week later her health rapidly declined. During the transition to long-term care which was the last week of her life she did not have a phone as there was a problem with the connection in the room when she moved despite us paying for the service- no one helped her; my father had to figure it out. We went to visit her and she was crying she was so lonely. The worst experience we had was the day before she died. We went to visit her and it was evident she was rapidly declining. We asked to speak to the PA and we waited for ~3 hours before she came to see us. Instead of having a family meeting given the obvious change in circumstances, she spoke with us for less than 10 minutes. We asked about hospice care as my grandmother was clearly uncomfortable. She said she could start arranging it on Monday (it was a Friday) but that they wouldn't do much differently. My grandmother was struggling to breathe and was in obvious pain. We asked for her to be transitioned to a liquid diet as she couldn't swallow her food. As the PA walked out the door, my father asked how much longer she thought my grandmother would live as my mother was planning to travel that weekend and was wondering if she should cancel these plans. The PA told my father her hydration status was good and at least 2 weeks - as a healthcare provider myself I knew this simply was not correct, aside from the fact that you can never truly predict the day or hour and it is irresponsible to tell families otherwise. My grandfather went to visit her Friday evening and was distraught as they still brought her solid food; when he asked for a liquid diet he was told by the nursing staff they would get to it; it had not arrived by the time he left. The next day Saturday afternoon my grandfather went to visit my grandma. He found her unresponsive, notified the nurse and discovered she had passed. He was by himself, there was no hospice, my mother was traveling. It was a horrific experience and the epitome of poor patient and family care. This facility may be good for very short rehab that doesn't require medical decision making as the physical therapist was excellent. But not for any complex medical conditions, long term care, elder care or hospice. Overall we were extremely disappointed."

"We chose to move my mother to Ruth's House because it was just the right fit for her between the activities, the food, and the care they provided. The few times we've gone there, it's a happy environment. The food is very good and the place is very clean. They're very quick to take care of any issues and are very accommodating. They have a library, lots of activities, and people coming in for shows. They have a hairdresser's place there, and other amenities, and there are lots of decks for people to sit outside."

"I have placed a family member at EVP and it is outstanding we have been residents for about a year and a half not and the care and compassion is outstanding you could not ask for a better place. I have had my family member at other places and there is no comparison, The aide we have is just the best she goes above and beyond each day, if you placed someone here you would feel the same about your aide even if it was a different aide then my mother has. The food is outstanding holiday dinners are better than a 4 star restaurant. The aides take the time to encourage the residents to eat and if they don't eat they get them something else to eat. I am so thankful I found EVP to place my family member it gives me such a secure feeling and I cannot thank EVP enough for their care and compassion. I know the difference I had my family member at another place and saw the lack of care which give me another reason to be so thankful for EVP. "

"We visited The Arbors at Westfield. We're very pleased with the interactions we've had so far. They have someone right at the front door, so you're never confused where you need to go and what you need to do. They've got very caring staff, and everybody was really wonderful. I liked the environment. It was clean, neat, and up-to-date. There was no old stuff hanging around. The staff was very attentive, showed us the nooks and crannies, and took a lot of time with us. She gave us a whole calendar, everything from cards, to bingo, to shopping."

"The Linda Manor was a very nice facility. We toured a little 1-bedroom apartment. It looked similar to what she has now, but it was more expensive. They have a place for Alzheimer's patients, but it's more like a nursing home from what I understand. One person took us on the tour and she was very friendly."

"The Arbors Assisted Living is very good and excellent. It's homey and clean. The administrator who took me around and the people I met there were very cordial and friendly. The facilities are wonderful. They just don't have a visiting doctor or OT, PT, or speech therapy included. They don't have 24-hour assistance either. Otherwise, it's a very good facility. The dining area and menu were very good. They take them out for shopping and sometimes on visits to other places."
