Assisted Living Communities in Hopkinton, MA

"I looked at The Branches of Marlboro, and the biggest complaint I had was that for the price range, you end up with a shared room with another resident, which really reduces the size of your unit. They do offer a much more extensive assisted living though, but you're paying a price for that because you're assessed when you come in. I didn't think my sister was going to benefit from that type of care in her current condition since it isn't so bad that she needs that kind of care. However, I thought they were really quite competitive, they were very attentive, and provided me with everything I asked for. I would recommend this place if you have a person who needs assisted living. It might be a good place to look."

"They are very nice to the residents. The food is good They provide activities and trips that are interesting. Interaction with the children from the childcare facility in the complex is always a treat. There is a beauty salon in the building. Close to grocery and department stores yet set back so that traffic is not a noise problem. Apple orchard and beautiful walking area. Laundry facilities are small but they offer laundry service and they are always cleaning the rooms. "

"I had visited The Falls. It was well kept-up. It was well maintained and a nice facility. I met the marketing people. They were very helpful and very thorough. They had card games, arts, and guest speakers. They were in a nice location. However, it was pretty expensive there. "

"I like the fact that the clients that they have there suited what my mother needed. The facility itself comes with a great reputation of having caring staff as well as a very clean place. The entertainment that they provide for the residents is wonderful. It gears toward the era that those folks have lived in. So for cognitively impaired adults that's just wonderful. My mother is an example of a quite ballroom dancer and a lot of the entertainment that they provide incorporates bringing in folks who play ballroom music. I can't say enough about the entertainment. My mother is a very social person so it's been a huge help to her. The aides are very hands on toward the residents. I'm a medical professional myself and the care that the aides provide day in and day out is not phony. They are lovely and good to all of the patients including the tough patients. My mother would be the person to tell me if she was unhappy with something and she is beyond happy. I never seen anything like Dodge Park Rest Home. I tell people all over the place about them."

"I was impressed with the quality of the facility at the Residences. The guy who worked with the lighting made it very cheerful, and they were in the process of increasing the size of the facility by 30 percent. The apartment was about 500 to 600 sq. ft. The staff was very satisfactory. There were a lot of activities and a garden to maintain while getting ready for summer. They had a restaurant in the facility, and the food was better than most restaurants. "

"I recommend Epoch of Weston very, very highly. And I can’t say enough to thank the excellent folks in Rehab Unit. It has been 6 months since a traumatic fall resulted in 4 broken bones, surgery, and 10 weeks of Rehab in this wonderful facility. In retrospect, I realize how very well I was “cared for” and “cared about.” Physically the facility is beautiful and clean. Cleaning products are odor free and there is a concerted effort to keep things clean and orderly. The carpeted dining room is lovely with table cloths and cloth napkins for lunch and dinner. We had wine glasses (filled with diet ginger ale or cranberry juice, mind you.) The menu was excellent and varied, repeating every 3 or 4 weeks, with sandwiches always available on request. They were able to accommodate my dietary needs with few errors. And fun trivia questions during Happy Hour… The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy services were excellent. Therapists were smart and skilled. I had both services 6 days a week! Although it was rigorous, I am sure the strength and awareness I gained made my return home much easier than it could have been. When questions or problems arose, the staff was quick to consult and come up with solutions. The heart of any institution is the people. I was virtually helpless, and the wonderful people who helped me with my daily physical care made a big difference. By treating me with respect, they made the indignities of helplessness tolerable. From bed pans in the middle of the night to opening my cereal box on my breakfast tray, I am so very grateful. Many of the staff have been at Epoch for many years and have a spiritual life. Experience counts and a life of service supported by spirituality couldn’t be stronger. The nurses and supervisors were universally helpful and very skilled and even funny! I always felt that I could ask them for help and they would respond. And the Social Worker was quick, efficient and very kind when difficulty occurred. I can’t discuss the other services at Epoch of Weston, but the staff often served on more than one floor. I’m sure the quality was equally strong in those areas. The one area of concern was a disagreeable smell when sitting on the patio in the summer. I understand that they are working on it. This recommendation is my own opinion from having been in just one other rehab center following surgery. Epoch is head and shoulders above my previous experience. More importantly, other residents with years of accumulated rehab experience put Epoch of Weston at the very top. I am very grateful for the care I received and the kindness of everyone I met. Thank you! "

"When my parents aged into their early 90’s they moved to an independent living community at Fox Hill Village. To their six children it appeared that they were still vibrant and active with my Dad even growing vegetables outdoors. But as they both moved into their mid-90’s, slowly and inexorably they needed more and more assistance – my Mom with dementia, and my Dad with a variety of medical issues that made independent living impossible. After a fairly extensive search our family decided to relocate my parents to MapleWood at Weston; my Mom to memory care, my Dad to assisted living and shortly thereafter to memory care - in part because of their excellent reputation. We have not been disappointed. Viewing my parents’ aging made it painfully obvious that their best days were behind them, that they were aware of that deterioration, and that awareness often led to confusion and/or frustration on their part – sometimes taken out on the staff. Despite the pandemic we were still able to have visits (albeit limited in duration) to see my parents and I always walked away with an incredible respect for the patience and respect that all the caregivers displayed even when a resident was not at their best. On one occasion when my Mom was in a particularly challenging mood I apologized to the staff to which they replied – “Oh don’t worry about it. She’s just a little confused but she’ll feel better later on. We’re used to that.” In the last few weeks of my Dad’s life our visits became more frequent and we were often visited by members of the management team as well as the caregivers to chat with my Dad as he retold the same stories from his repertoire. I’ve seen many interactions with residents (not just my parents) including front desk staff and I’ve always been impressed with the genuine care that they are providing. "

"I toured Corcoran House. All they could supply was a studio, and I was looking for a one bedroom. The facility was nice, and the girl that I spoke with was really helpful. They just didn't have what I was looking for, which is a one bedroom and a Hoyer lift. The people looked happy. The facility was clean, and the employees that I spoke to were all happy. The studio apartment was very, very small. My mother right now is in an assisted living. She has a living room and a bedroom separate from each other, and that's kind of what I want for my mom. They showed me the dining area, which was nice. They showed me an exercise area, which is also like a sitting area where all the people were. Everybody seemed happy, and that was nice. They also have an area where there's a bunch of books, like a library. It used to be a school that they turned into an assisted living place, and I liked that feature. I would give them a three for the apartment. I wasn't impressed with that."

"My parents are staying at All American Assisted Living at Wrentham. It's brand new, so it's excellent. The staff has generally been attentive. The food is topnotch. They do religious services, game watching, musicians come in, exercise classes, social hour with drinks in the evening, and arts and crafts."

"The one that really impressed me was here. Out of the three that I visited, that was the one that caught my attention. It was the most outstanding. It felt more inviting than the other two. I got a complete tour. I like the quality of the environment. I did visit the dining rooms during dining hours; it was inviting. "

"My tour to Brookdale Eddy Pond West was great. The young lady there was very, very helpful in every way. I liked everything about it. I saw two apartments. The first one was a studio, another was a model room. The studio had the fridge, bed, and furniture. The young lady was very, very polite. She explained everything thoroughly. She went through everything, including the financial aspect. We did several stops at some offices, and she explained everything. It was very satisfactory. She also said that we could have stayed for the food. They have a big yard space to walk and go sit down to be comfortable."

"Scandinavian Living Center was an absolutely lovely facility. Great staff, beautiful, lots of recreational and educational opportunities, and good food. It had beautiful rooms, small, intimate settings. You name it, they have it: music, dance, games, outside speakers coming in, and community organizations that meet in the building so the seniors can participate. You basically have a little apartment with a little bit of a kitchenette, but they had communal meals too."

"Chapel Hill Senior Living was very good. It was top of the line. I saw rooms, I met different people that work there, and the whole thing was clean, uplifting, very professional, courteous, and caring, and that's the impression I got from them. I was impressed by everything that I saw there. When I was there, they were having a watercolor painting class, and in another area, they were doing some type of exercise. Those were the only two activities I got to see."

"Sophia Snow Place was pleasant. I had no issues with it; it just wouldn't serve my friend's purposes. It was clean, the people were friendly, and they seemed to enjoy living there. The person who I spoke with was very pleasant."
