There logo states "The difference is caring" and I felt that on my tour andmeeting the staff and residents everyone looked so happy. They had a great activity going on which the residents seemed to love. We stayed for lunch and it was wonderful. My Mom kept telling she is not ready for assisted living and after the tour she said "when can I move in". "

"My sister is at Sophia Snow Place. It's very comfortable and well-furnished. The food is good, and I like that. I don't think they have enough staffing though. With regard to activities, the only thing she attends is the poetry group. She doesn't care to be engaged in anything else. Her room is spacious. She has a double bed in there. She has a recliner and another chair, and she's able to hang all the paintings that she loves. The place is clean, too."

"Chapel Hill Senior Living was exceptionally beautiful inside. They had an apartment that would be very, very doable for me and my husband. He's wheelchair-bound most of the time so that worked, as long as he can do transfers, which he can. The building itself and everything was very, very nice. When I walked in, I felt like I had just come home. I was there when they were serving meals because they went to the dining room, and the food looked really good, but I haven't tried it yet. They have a garden club where they actually grow their own vegetables and then they give them to the kitchen, so the kitchen can use them in all their meals. They have a happy hour. They have activities every day. They go out on activities. They will also bring you to doctors' appointments if you have an appointment, but also they have a doctor that will come in. They have podiatry. They will come in and clip your toenails. They have a lot of different things like that. They have entertainment. It seemed like it was a good fit, but not an overwhelming fit. The staff during the tour is Bethany. She was fabulous. She will go as far as coming to our house to kind of give my husband an overview of what everything's about and bring him some kind of dessert. She'll go out of her way for you. My son and daughter and daughter-in-law had a tour after I had a tour and they were very impressed with it, too, and they liked her. I got to meet the nurse over there and she was very nice. Everybody was just friendly. They call all the residents by name. It's a happy environment. It was totally clean. I didn't come across any area that wasn't clean."

"Orchard Cove was second on our list. Our tour was a very good experience. The facility was clean. The community was welcoming. The staff person who toured us was very knowledgeable and very responsive to our questions. We were very impressed with it. The dining area was very comfortable, very warm, and very welcoming. They had a flower bed, and vegetable garden for the residents, and they had patios to sit on when it was warm. They had a walking path, which is important for us."

"The Willows At Westborough is excellently maintained. The family who runs it has a very good reputation. They have excellent services available, and the people are all very happy and cheerful. It's a very homey atmosphere. They have 1- and 2-bedrooms and a very large 2-bedroom apartment that you can choose from. The location is excellent. It's across the street from a Stop and Shop, and a CVS, which is a pharmacy. There's also a wonderful bookstore, and a mile down the way there are several restaurants and another big shopping center. It's extremely well located. They even have a bank on-site so you don't even have to go out to go to the bank if you don't want to."

"I did a tour of Artisan at Hudson. They have a beautiful, huge dining room. It's very well-designed, and the surroundings were beautiful. Their studio apartments were very large and very nice. The person who gave us the tour, was very helpful, explained everything, and she had two beautiful booklets to look at. Also, the director of the facility came and spoke with us, which did not happen in the other places. His name's Charles and he was very helpful and very good. They offer three meals a day. It's a beautiful facility, it was very nice. They didn't have a pool, but they had beautiful outdoor patios, several of them."

"My friend has moved into New Horizons at Marlborough. I know that they're an older facility, so they don't have the new technology, but I know that there's a lot of activities there. She's done very well and is taken care of there. The food has been great, but I know the calling system has been a challenge. It's like an actual landline where she can call to get aides to come see her. The size of the room is a little bit of a challenge, but overall she's been taken care of very well there. I liked the layout, and it doesn't feel like an assisted living facility. It feels like a community. The staff is pretty great. Maybe there's staff turnover, but they are all very nice and accommodating. They address issues when they arise, so I think that's all positive. She doesn't really engage in the activities because of her mobility issues, but she goes to the exercise class. The food normally is very good. Throughout the winter, I don't know what changed. There were some meals that came a little bit cold, but they were still good. She doesn't really complain about the food. She says it's good. It's just very expensive."

"My grandmother has been a resident of the Briarwood Community for over ten years. When she first moved to Briarwood, she lived in an independent cottage. The cottage was beautiful and spacious, with two bedrooms and a screened in porch and a garage. Briarwood offered many amenities to its residents, including a restaurant, a beautician, weekly outings, a computer lab and crafts and games. My grandmother recently gave up her cottage and has moved into an assisted living apartment in the same facility. My family and I have been very impressed with the quality of both the housing and the staff at Briarwood. The staff, especially the social worker, have been extremely helpful with helping my grandmother transition to her new home. It was a very difficult and stressful decision for her to leave her home and accept more help, but in the end, she was quite happy with her decision. Her new apartment, while smaller than her cottage, is very nice, and she has everything that she needs there. There is always a staff member available to her if she needs help dressing or bathing and she can still take part in all of the amenities that were available to her in the cottage. "

"My mother-in-law is in Shillman House. The people are caring, and the facility is nice and clean. They have activities. She loves the food. Everything is pretty good so far. My wife said the food is very good. It's very new and kept up very well. They're just starting to open up due to Covid, but they have activities every day. It's good value for the money. We checked other places that were charging more, and this is absolutely very good for the price."

"I visited Colony Retirement. It has a very good reputation. The place is very peaceful, clean, and very homey. There is no high rise. There are nice trees there and it's landscaped but not like a hotel. The units are spread out. The people are friendly. People come here and they stay long-term. "

"We have been to the Willows in Worcester. The facility was very nice. The staff was also very nice. The rooms looked pleasant. It's spacious and has lots of light. They have lots of activities, too. The person who showed me around was very helpful. Some residents have their gardens and outdoor patios. One of the rooms that we saw had an outdoor patio, too."

"We liked everything about Goddard House. Everything is centrally located for my mom to get to and there are a lot of options for her. She likes the whole atmosphere of it. One of the residents let us go in and see her apartment and it was nice and pretty much exactly what she's looking for. Plus, it was the cheapest one we found. It's got a small stove top as well as a microwave, and a small refrigerator. It's like having a little kitchenette. The staff was very nice, very informative, and very accommodating. Everything was explained completely. The lady who gave us a tour was able to get a wheelchair for mom. The whole place was kept up very nicely. I had clients over there, so I know what the rest of the place looks like and I had no problems going in there, to begin with. I liked it and I thought it would be a good place for my mom."

"My sister resides in The Coolidge at Sudbury. She has made a lot of friends. They do bingo and they have computer areas and little libraries, but nothing more than that. No meals. There is a shopping area and pharmacies. It's nice. It's country yet it's good if you're out there. My sister is on the second floor. Her apartment has wood floors and blinds, but you can put your own curtains. It has a nice kitchenette, a good-sized bedroom, and a bathroom, of course. The only thing she doesn't have is a washer and dryer in her apartment. It's very clean. They're very big on hygiene. They have a great security system, and it has great people in it. The staff has a little office downstairs, and there are two girls who work down there. They help them when they have to pay their rent, and they help them with activities. But if my sister wanted her curtains hung up, the lady said, 'No, this is independent living. I'm sorry.' So they don't have anybody to do maintenance and so forth. You're on your own. But they're nice people there."
