"My father has moved into The Residence at Five Corners. Our experience has been good. The place is nice, rather new, and kind of spacious compared to some of the other places. He is in a two-unit room. There are two separate rooms within the same apartment, and there's a kitchen area, as well as a bathroom that two people share. The staff members are very nice, and they seem to be very involved with his care. My father has worked on building stuff with his hands, which he likes to do. They had birdhouse building, that type of thing, and painting. They have an activity area, a larger TV room for movie-night type stuff, and a separate room for some of the activities they do that is different than the other two. They have at least three areas where they can do things, and they have an outdoor patio, which is nice. Since COVID has been decreasing, they're now open to visitations, and they're fairly unlimited, but you have to call ahead and schedule it. The schedule was originally set up for half-hour visits, but now it's not limited as far as time goes. I haven't tried the food, but it looks good. I know my father is eating well."

"I have gone to the Residence at Valley Farm, and it was very nice. It is a little more expensive from my point of view. The food was good. It seemed like everybody was doing very well. Once, I saw a show where they had a group over there. Right now I am totally independent and I don’t have a cane or a walker, but it seemed to me that they had more of these kinds of people around there. I’ve been on a tour; it was very nice, and the person doing it was very nice. And then, I was there for dinner once, and that was very good. They have some kind of hospitality time where they have drinks, and when I was there, they were lined up getting themselves over there quickly because they get really excited about this one. They do this like at 3 o’ clock in the afternoon. "

"Fairview Estates Gracious Retirement Living was very clean and the manager lives on the premises. They have cars that take you to appointments and buses which they use for shopping. They have craft classes, raised beds so you could have your own garden, patios, places where you can walk, parking for cars, laundry rooms, computer rooms, and theaters."

"I toured Orchard Cove. The amenities are overwhelming. They have a magnificent pool that has an everyday lifeguard. They have all kinds of classes that take place in the pool, from water aerobics to water volleyball. They have a full-sized gym with two trainers full-time, which is incredible. They have four dining rooms. They have a beautiful library, and it's decorated beautifully. The lobby is magnificent. Just everything that I saw was very, very appealing. The apartments look terrific. Most of them have screened-in porches. It is not inexpensive, and that will be the only question that I would have. I still have to work out the numbers, because it is quite up there in terms of expense. I toured their independent living, and then they also have enhanced living -- which is the same as assisted living -- and skilled nursing care if needed. They have different contracts and different amounts of money for all of those things. The apartments have full kitchens, stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, a washer-dryer, and a step/walk-in shower. It was really quite impressive. The person who took me around was quite excellent. Very informed and very helpful. Everybody in the place that I was introduced to was delightful. It was just a delightful place. It made a very strong impression. The staff was very knowledgeable. They also have underground parking. They're affiliated with Harvard Medical School, and they have a full-time doctor onsite five days a week, and there are two nurse practitioners who are there all the time. In the assisted living area they have other nurses available in case of an emergency or something like that."

"We found Epoch Senior Living on Blackstone, and mom's actually moving there tomorrow. It seemed like a good fit for my mother. It was moderate in size and reasonable in price, and we were impressed with the staff that we interacted with. They were friendly and helpful. We thought they were adequate for my mother's needs. "

"We visited Traditions of Dedham and we liked it. The caregivers were very personable. The people that live there seemed very happy. There were a lot of activities. The food looked really good, and they seemed to be happy with that. It was clean. They have like art classes, they have a small library, and they have like physical activity type classes, and I saw one of those. They have like little happy hours, and they have trips that they take them on with a van. They have bingo, game night, and movie nights. Every day, they have something. They have a schedule and a calendar with at least one thing every day. They gave us some cookies that the chef had made and those were pretty good."

"We toured The Residence at Natick South. It has a very beautiful, elegant, and very formal setting. It required furnishing for even a short-term rehab stay. They did not provide a television. They had a white linen dinner every night, a well-appointed exercise room, and very friendly staff."

"Brookdale Cushing Park was nice. They got assisted living and independent living. They offered meals for all residents. It was OK, but it was too restrictive for me. I saw one independent living unit. It was a nice little townhouse that had a garage. The kitchen was reasonable and the unit was OK. I met the staff at the front desk and the woman that took us around were both terrific. The dining room looked nice, but we didn't see a lot."

"I was impressed with the quality of the facility at the Residences. The guy who worked with the lighting made it very cheerful, and they were in the process of increasing the size of the facility by 30 percent. The apartment was about 500 to 600 sq. ft. The staff was very satisfactory. There were a lot of activities and a garden to maintain while getting ready for summer. They had a restaurant in the facility, and the food was better than most restaurants. "

"I went to Anchor Bay at Pocasset. It was spacious. The rooms were a moderate size. It was lunchtime when I went there, so I didn't see any activities or speak with any of the staff. They were all busy serving lunch. However, the person who greeted me was very informative and very friendly. It probably would have been my second choice."

"My parents lived at Anchor Bay for 3 years and we could not have been happier for the care, environment and kindness. First, their health and safety is paramount at Anchor Bay. They were excellent at communicating when my parents' needs were not able to be met or there were issues that needed addressing. Their activities are varied and many. Definitely something for everyone. But really, the best thing is the staff. They pay attention and provide care in the kindest possible way. THis is a very difficult job and the staff handles it with great respect, kindness and humor. "

"I'm at The Highlands Gracious Retirement in Westborough. It's very nice. The staff is very nice. The people are nice. My apartment is a studio and it's fine. It has everything I need. They are very responsive if I need anything. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I also have a kitchenette. The food is OK. They have a movie theater. They have a bus that takes you to local stores and grocery stores and things like that, if needed, twice a week. They have a library and pool tables."
