"I toured Blaire House of Milford Assisted Living and got some information. I was very happy. The woman was on time, explained things, and answered a lot of questions. I actually had someone else with me, so it was nice. She took her time to answer the questions from the other person as well. She gave us this nice hard covered book when we left. It was just a nice, extra thoughtful gift, and something that wasn't related to the nursing home. It was just something they found inspirational for this time, as we are trying to figure out how to help a family member and loved one. I appreciated that. We weren't rushed. We took our time. It's a very nice facility and very clean. It's a little above my price range for my dad, but definitely one that I'm considering. I just did the memory care there."

"We are looking to possibly move to Brookdale Cushing Park. The food looks lovely; I had dinner there. I think it is a community atmosphere. The maintenance is on a par, and there are a lot of places to sit. In the lobby, the residents are offered ginger ale or wine to drink while sitting around, which is very nice. They are treated like adults there. "

"When we first walked in, there was a bingo game in session in the beautiful parlor. To my right was a grand library in what looked like nice polished oak. The dining staff was caring and attentive and the Director was delightful. I was impressed by how friendly and patient the staff was (especially the nurses). Later on, there was an ice cream social and we got to meet many of the residents. This did not strike me as a "nursing hom" whatsoever but rather a community. There was a gentleman that played the piano and several residents even got up to dance. The front window overlooks a sweeping lawn and the property is located in a quiet, wooded area. I was told that they take field trips from time to time and was comforted by the fact that they get out often. This is definitely a place I think my grandmother will be happy and healthy for years to come. "

"I loved Sunrise. The service was great, but it's a little pricey. Also, if the person needs more care during the month, the pricing will go up. It’s a very nice facility and close to our house. It had good activities, and the dining area was wonderful, but I was concerned that they were looking for staff and might have a high turnover there. "

"My mother moved into Manor on the Hill. The building is a little older, but the staff is caring. She's in a comfortable, single room. Everyone seemed happy when we walked through and checked out the place. They were holding a baking class when my mother moved in, have daily exercise class, and have a patch outside for gardening. They do trips to restaurants, people come in for hair and nails, and have bingo and dance classes."

"My Aunt, who has Dementia moved into Leominster Crossing a little over a year ago. She is a resident iof the Harbor Care Community. I thought that her transition from another Assisted Living Facility was going to be difficult for her, but the staff at Leominster Crossing were so helpful it was easy. The entire staff was so welcoming. Since that day I have enjoyed complete confidence & peace of mind that my Aunt is being very well taken care of. I visit often without prior notice & have many opportunities to observe how the caretakers interact with the residents & I admire their dedication. I can tell that it’s more than just a job for them. "I recommend Epoch of Weston very, very highly. And I can’t say enough to thank the excellent folks in Rehab Unit. It has been 6 months since a traumatic fall resulted in 4 broken bones, surgery, and 10 weeks of Rehab in this wonderful facility. In retrospect, I realize how very well I was “cared for” and “cared about.” Physically the facility is beautiful and clean. Cleaning products are odor free and there is a concerted effort to keep things clean and orderly. The carpeted dining room is lovely with table cloths and cloth napkins for lunch and dinner. We had wine glasses (filled with diet ginger ale or cranberry juice, mind you.) The menu was excellent and varied, repeating every 3 or 4 weeks, with sandwiches always available on request. They were able to accommodate my dietary needs with few errors. And fun trivia questions during Happy Hour… The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy services were excellent. Therapists were smart and skilled. I had both services 6 days a week! Although it was rigorous, I am sure the strength and awareness I gained made my return home much easier than it could have been. When questions or problems arose, the staff was quick to consult and come up with solutions. The heart of any institution is the people. I was virtually helpless, and the wonderful people who helped me with my daily physical care made a big difference. By treating me with respect, they made the indignities of helplessness tolerable. From bed pans in the middle of the night to opening my cereal box on my breakfast tray, I am so very grateful. Many of the staff have been at Epoch for many years and have a spiritual life. Experience counts and a life of service supported by spirituality couldn’t be stronger. The nurses and supervisors were universally helpful and very skilled and even funny! I always felt that I could ask them for help and they would respond. And the Social Worker was quick, efficient and very kind when difficulty occurred. I can’t discuss the other services at Epoch of Weston, but the staff often served on more than one floor. I’m sure the quality was equally strong in those areas. The one area of concern was a disagreeable smell when sitting on the patio in the summer. I understand that they are working on it. This recommendation is my own opinion from having been in just one other rehab center following surgery. Epoch is head and shoulders above my previous experience. More importantly, other residents with years of accumulated rehab experience put Epoch of Weston at the very top. I am very grateful for the care I received and the kindness of everyone I met. Maplewood meets all of these requirements. It is a lovely residence that is well maintained and overseen by a superior caring staff. The rooms are well proportioned and kept in good shape. The food is varied and healthy and there is a large variety of activities for the residents. Bernardo sets a tone of friendliness, teamwork and responsiveness. In these times, it is critically important that we are kept apprised of the health and safety of the residents and the staff, and Bernardo does an exceptional job in that regard. Maplewood is not inexpensive but we feel that our Mom is getting great care and is safe and happy. "

"My parents will be moving to The Residences at Wingate. It's a relatively new place at only three years old. It has a very nice, clean feeling, a lot of lights, very open, and on the smaller side. I think there are 48 rooms. The staff was very positive. We met the executive director first and then the person who helps new people, and they were both excellent. We had lunch in the dining room and the staff was very friendly and nice. Everybody is doing a very good job. They have a nice dining room. I'm a chef, so I am very particular about food, but it's very well cooked. Everything was good. "

"Scandinavian Living Center was an absolutely lovely facility. Great staff, beautiful, lots of recreational and educational opportunities, and good food. It had beautiful rooms, small, intimate settings. You name it, they have it: music, dance, games, outside speakers coming in, and community organizations that meet in the building so the seniors can participate. You basically have a little apartment with a little bit of a kitchenette, but they had communal meals too."

"I really liked All American. Their only setback is they have shared apartments, but Mom can have the whole apartment, and they give you a little bit of a discount. I really liked that. They had a lot of patios. They had everything that I liked. It's a brand-new facility. They have residents, and they're half full right now. They've only been open a year. It's really nice. They've got around the area a little restaurant, 110 Grill, a pizza place, and a place to get your nails done. If they just wanted to walk across the street, they can do that. Everything is like in a complex. They have big pop in buildings next door. They did a nice job down there. It was immaculate. They had everything that we were looking for. Every room is kind of set up the same. You can have the two-bedrooms, living area, kitchenette, and the bathroom, or you can have the entire apartment by yourself. The staff member was very helpful. She said a good thing about having a buddy system and you're gonna say (to your roommate), "Oh, let's go play bingo tonight or let's go down to get something to eat." She will always have somebody else who will say, "Let's go try that." They told me they would assess her ahead of time and place her with somebody that they think that she would get along with. I met their physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist. They have everything. They were wonderful. They would go over her diet and help her manage her pills. She doesn't need to be bathed or any of that. Then they have a memory loss facility. They have different steps. Their age group is mostly in their 80s and some in their 90s and 70s. There was just one person in his 60s. They were like, "I can't find any place cheaper to live and I get my three meals a day." All you need to do is pay for your cellphone. Everything's included. They have a bistro, entertainment, an exercise room, arts and crafts, they have a bus to take you shopping, and a hairdresser. The only thing that wasn't discussed with me was (I read in their brochure) that they want a $3,500 fee upfront, which is a one-time new resident service fee. The director was informative. She was great, and she was nice. The people that I spoke with were so nice. It's beautiful. In the front, there's like a farmhouse porch with all the rocking chairs. There's a big patio out there with grills. They have a library, a bistro, and a lot of different areas that you can go to. It's a beautiful facility."
