Assisted Living Communities in Billerica, MA

"I went to Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn. I looked specifically at the memory care portion of it. Unlike some of the other facilities I toured, where they have regular assisted living and memory care, I felt like at Benchmark, they really value the memory care side of things and put a lot of thought and energy into it whereas at some of the other places the memory care side seems like a little bit of an afterthought. The person who gave me the tour was named Drew and he was wonderful. We emailed a few times since then and he's just been great. He was probably one of the main reasons I liked the place as much as I did. The rooms were very nice. Compared to some of the other places, I didn't love that you have to furnish it yourself. It doesn't come with much in the way of furnishings, so that's an additional cost. I thought the facility seemed very clean and very comfortable. The memory side of things seemed appropriate for that level of care as far as not too much in the way of overstimulation. It was relatively quiet but well-lit and clean. I was there right after lunch, so the dining area was a little messy, but they were cleaning up. But it was a nice open space that had a little bit of a homey feel. They had all sorts of things. They had live music that was going to be coming later in the day. They have an outdoor area where they can spend time in the garden, they have barbecues out there, and then there was a class going on when I was there, like a light fitness class. It seems like they have plenty of things to keep people busy."

"The Giving Tree Senior Living is an amazing place. My grandpa moved there in October 2024, and it has been a wonderful experience for him and our family. From day one, everyone who works there has been friendly, supportive, and helpful. My grandpa absolutely loves his apartment. It’s spacious enough to give him his independence while still being a part of a community. He raves about the food— says the portions are generous and there is great variety to choose from. He’s always talking about how friendly and accommodating the staff is, which has made a huge difference in his experience. He enjoys spending time in the Pub, where he can play pool and socialize with friends. The community also has a movie room and an area for games. A nice touch is the piano in the lobby, for residents to play. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The activities offered at The Giving Tree are fantastic, and they post the daily events in the elevator, so everyone knows what’s happening. The staff is amazing, and my grandpa has no complaints—he’s very happy there. If you’re looking for a place that truly cares for its residents and offers a wonderful community, The Giving Tree is the place. We couldn’t be more grateful for everything they do."

"The Gables was just right off the street from me. It was lovely. The one whom I toured the place with was very nice. The rooms were awesome. They were spacious unlike the others. If I would go anywhere, I would be at The Gables. I would recommend them to others. "

"My mom is now at Atria Marland Place. We interviewed with them and decided that we like what they offered. At Atria Marland, they were upfront with everything. Unlike just about every place that we called, they did not tell us about the upfront fee until the very end when we were considering it and getting close to contracting with them. The upfront fee ranged up to $6000 and it's no refund. So if your parent happens to get sick just before they are about to move and can't move in, you would lose the money ? period. No refund. Atria Marland Place is a very nice place. My first impression of it was that it was warm, inviting and welcoming. The residents seemed happy. They were warm, friendly and inviting to my mom. She is in a shared room and this is one of the things that sold us on for this particular facility because it has a shared main living area, the living room-kitchenette area. Each of the two occupants has their own spacious bedroom and bathroom. That?s really ideal because they can be together when they want to be and they can be private when they want to be. Regarding the staff, since my mom has been there, we have been very pleased with them. They are being very helpful and friendly. My mom loves the aides. She thinks they are the nicest and sweetest women and she calls them "her girls". The food is excellent. The dining room's ambience is very nice. The wait staff is very friendly and warm. They are just cheerful and fun. They would joke around with the residents. For activities, they have groups coming in, they have parties at different holidays, they have movies, games and card games and then they also have exercise classes. They even have a van that takes them to places. Overall, we are delighted with it. "

"The Delaney at the Vale wasn't right for us, but it was a fine facility. The staff was very helpful and spent a lot of time. It really seemed ideal for a certain kind of person, but we wanted to be more urban. We are New Yorkers, and it was like a resort. It's not really what we wanted. We needed it to be closer to town, that kind of thing, but the facility itself was brand new."

"We went to Benchmark Senior Living at Waltham Crossings. It was very nice. The location is great. The staff is very friendly and outgoing. The facility is quite nice. They are able to offer an outdoor gardening program for residents that is pretty nice. Their amenities are pretty much like others. They have programming during the day. The location is very convenient for me or for anyone who is driving there, but when you're talking about going out, it is a little limited, and that would be the only negative thing about the place."

"Ashland Farm at North Andover was very updated. The rooms were quite lovely, clean, and had a very livable layout. The lady was lovely and very easy to talk to. She was very understanding and very accommodating. She showed me around if I wanted to see something else, and was more than willing to take me around the entire building. The average age of the residents was probably in the late 70s to early 80s and whenever she passed by somebody, she greeted them by name; it was really nice to see. They have a pretty high level of care. So, they have a good nursing staff to resident ratio."

"Scandinavian Living Center was an absolutely lovely facility. Great staff, beautiful, lots of recreational and educational opportunities, and good food. It had beautiful rooms, small, intimate settings. You name it, they have it: music, dance, games, outside speakers coming in, and community organizations that meet in the building so the seniors can participate. You basically have a little apartment with a little bit of a kitchenette, but they had communal meals too."

"Brigham House was a pretty good place. It was old. I did see one of the rooms, which was new. They've done the rooms over and it was sizable enough. It has a very bright dining room and it's got floor-to-ceiling windows. I think that the people that are there are well taken care of. It just didn't appeal to my friend. It was just too old of a place for him. It was a little pricey. There's a $7,000 activity buy-in fee."

"My parents moved to Maplewood from Florida in November 2019 to be closer to the rest of our family, mostly in the Boston area. While they have had some challenges in adjusting, as well as some medical issues, my family is really glad we chose Maplewood. The staff is diligent and attentive; the nurses are very capable and caring; the food is good; the activities are often terrific. My folks' apartment is spacious and lovely. In addition, my parents have made friends, are busy, eat well, take all their meds, and get regular exercise, as well as physical therapy. My dad says everyone wants to sit with them at dinner!"

"This nursing home/assisted care facility excels in care, activities, routines for daily living and patient/caregiver relationship. Outstanding activities include; namaste center with sensory stimulating activities, music, baking, arts, movies shown in a theater-like setting, theme days and family picnic and holiday celebrations. The staff is courteous and caring and have a wonderful rapport with family members. "

"Evans Park did not look like a cookie cutter copy of all the other assisted living facilities we’ve seen. It’s a unique building. I liked that there seemed to be a piano concert and lively people enjoying what was going on. It’s a diverse community. They mentioned several different kinds of religious activities going on. The location was attractive. The rooms we saw were larger than a studio, attractive, and had more storage space. "

"My aunt really seemed to be enjoying her time here. She was able to connect with other residents pretty easily, thank largely to the social events that the facility puts on. The people there all seemed very friendly and caring. The facility itself was always very clean and bright. The location itself was great, especially since it was only a few minutes from area amenities. I believe that they may have renovated the building recently and added some other activities, but I'm not sure. My aunt always felt very secure in the facility, since it is both in a very safe neighborhood and they seemed to be very serious about guests checking in and out of the facility. There are a lot of people there, so it seemed like everyone living there could "do their own thing" if they wanted to. Overall, it seemed that everyone very much enjoyed their lives there and were never bored, "
