I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Everyone is caring and kind. Management was available any time of day I emailed a question. Maintenance helped our Dad move his furniture. We had short ribs brought to the room with desserts, and then they brought us wine. Dad has met a group of friends talks about the aids and nurses. He keeps busy, sometimes too busy to take my call. It’s a great feeling to know he’s happy.

The facility looks clean but pipes burst and carpets were not replaced so moldy smell. The nursing staff has high turnover and lacks experience. The aids try their best but several understaffed. Activities are minimal at best.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Dad was a resident from May 2022 until his passing in July 2024. While not always perfect, the management staff changes that occurred in the Fall of 2023 were really awful - the level of care that my Dad had been receiving just went downhill. Wonderful nurses were no longer there, people who really cared. We had issues with medication management, which we hadn’t had issues with before; I actually witnessed a nurse treat my Dad with disrespect, she had no care/compassion for him; I had issues with getting invoices; and the new management team is unresponsive. We have been in contact with the state about the issues my Dad encountered. They are now trying to bill me personally when I was never on the lease, again-no response from the management team. The old management team knew my dad, and would visit him in his room when he was less mobile due to his health…he had really liked it there then. There are still some wonderful aides there, and we appreciated the care they gave my Dad. I would have given it at least a 4 star review before the management changes, but not now - if I could give 0 stars I would, but again due to management.

My mom has been at The Residence at Freeman Lake for a year and a half. I like that they have a good amount of activity. I like that the place seems very clean. But I don't like the management. There's a lot of turnover in management. My mom said the food's not very good. They have the typical bingo and movies. My mother particularly likes the restaurant and shopping trips. All the aides are very nice. It's overpriced, as they all are. They need more staff, and the upper staff needs to be more involved. They need improvements in the food.

My mother was a resident of The Residence at Freeman Lake. It was excellent, the people are very good there, they're thorough, they're helpful, they're kind, and they're caring. I have nothing but good things about them. The rooms are well equipped, everything is there that is necessary to live, there are connections for TV, telephone, and closet space is good. The kitchen type area is good. We had to buy a small microwave, but everything else was there, the refrigerator was there and it was perfectly fine. My mother was having difficulty eating at that time. She did eat some of the food, and she said it was good.

My sister chose The Residence at Freeman Lake and she moved in. She likes it there. I usually visit her on the porch. Because of this COVID I stay outside. The food is very good, she likes all the staff, and that's a good thing. There are a few activities. They have a game day and an exercise day.

I visited this facility

Brookdale North Chelmsford's rooms were semi-private or private. The semi-private were not amenable to us in terms of size and there was no privacy between the two occupants. They have a nice restaurant, theater, patios and transportation. It was more expensive than my mom's current facility. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful.

Housekeeping terrible, dried feces imbedded in carpet and bathroom. Have brought to managements attn. multiple times, remains the same. No improvement. Management tells you what you want to hear. Staff serves meals, not much engagement or personal care given to my father. Current activities leader, Rachel, appears to be more engaged with residents and sends pictures of activities that my father participates in. She shows more interest in my father than management and staff. From what I have seen the activities have improved. Other amenities are sub par. No commercial laundry. My father’s laundry basket filled with soiled clothing on a regular basis. PROMISES MADE - PROMISES NOT KEPT. This all falls under POOR MANAGEMENT. No communication from management to family. Only communication comes from Rachel in Activities.

Our visit with Brookdale North Chelmsford was very good. I think they're pretty comparable with the other places we toured. The dining room was very nicely done. When we went the first time around the staff was OK. The second time the person that was supposed to give us the tour called us over, and that staff was better. Everything is very nice, the grounds are very nice, and the community is in a good location.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Brookdale North Chelmsford has all kinds of things going on and off campus, like classes, movies, internet cafes, and a shuttle that goes a couple days a week back and forth to Walmart. I have a rather large studio with a small kitchenette, a refrigerator, sink, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The staff makes a serious effort to remember everybody by name. I was astounded since people who only saw me once were calling me by name. It was nice. The place is very clean. I'm very pleased.

My friend moved to Brookdale. It was more comfortable and not too pricey. The facility is very clean with no odor. The staff is very cordial and attentive. The room has a bathroom and kitchenette, and it’s always clean. The food is very good according to my friend, and they had quite a variety of dishes.

I visited Emeritus. That was the one we decided would be best for her. It was very nice. It looks fairly new and very modern. They’re updating the interior with new painting and rugs. Everyone was really friendly; the young lady that we spoke to when we got there, the nurse, the chef and the other folks that was roaming around. Everyone said hello. We sat and talked to other residents. We got the sense that they take care of the residents; the residents seemed happy with the staff. They have a nurse on staff too. We went there and had lunch and were back a few times. It had a huge dining room which looked like a restaurant. The dining room was superb. The menu was very nice. If you don’t like what they’re having that day, you could pick off another menu. They had plenty of choices and a very comfortable setting. It had other couple rooms for functions. I looked at 3 or 4 rooms and they were all very nice. A couple of them were just remodeled with new painting and carpeting. I just looked at one bedroom, but my mother doesn’t want anything that large. The studios were rather small, but it was perfect for her. They have a full calendar of activities every month. They go out to lunch in the community, bingo, card games, folks come in and have sing along, and other things. It seemed to me that it would be a very full day.

I like the location of Emeritus at Meadow Lodge. Generally, the place is nice and I really like the person-in-charge at their memory care unit. They do have activities like bingo and short trips; they have a very active calendar.

We have found a place. We like Emeritus because it is pleasant, comfortable, safe, and not expensive. It is not as nice as the property in SC. There is not as much room to move around there. The activities are probably as good, but I'm not there every day to see what they do, but as long as my mother is safe and comfortable, then that's the deal for me. These people are caring. I have observed them. They seemed like they know what they are doing.

Emeritus seemed very friendly. They were well equipped. I think there would be a spot that would be suitable for my wife, but I just can't afford them. The staff was fine, very friendly and very helpful. It looked they had a large room set up there with a TV, showing movies and things for the guests.

Emeritus at Meadow Lodge was a large facility. It looked very good. They offered levels of care depending upon your needs. They showed me a studio unit which looked reasonable and sufficient. I had lunch there and it was pretty good. Other than their large dining room and some hallways with rooms off of them, I didn't see anything that is particularly unusual.

I really would not want my Dad any where else. the parties are fun, and all the Mgmnt and staff are super friendly and all know my Dad by name, and at meals they have gone that extra mile to get my Dad something special if he asks for it!!! I recommend this facility with 5 stars I am glad my Dad is here!!!! He also has made many friends!!!

I am a friend or relative of resident

A loved one has been at Meadow Lodge about three months now. At first it was very hard learning the community. There wasn't much of an orientation, so it was not clear what activities were available, or when & where. The staff tries. Some are very good, others just OK. There have been issues with laundry coming back late, sometimes with clothes missing. The meals are OK, but redundant. When my loved one asks for something other than what is served, she usually is told they don't have it. These are not fancy things, maybe an orange or apple instead of the dessert. I have heard stories of how other residents have dietary needs like diabetes, high BP, sensitive stomach/GERD and they don't get foods that cater to their needs. I agree with another reviewer that the administration is a problem. The Director is very gruff with the residents and seems to dismiss the complaints the residents have. Since moving in, my loved one has seen many leave...staff as well as residents. I think this needs to be addressed

I visited this facility

The rooms at the Emeritus are average. I would say comfortable in a sense but not that big. Each of the rooms doesn't have its own cable TV but it has large, empty closet spaces for your things and it also has a pantry/mini kitchen plus a refrigerator. It includes some basic furniture like sofa and some wooden drawers. The room's bathroom are very clean and maintained really well. I didn't get to eat there because I mainly came for some added information and just to see for myself how the facility looks, and how it is run because they sure sounded good over the phone. Yes, the staff there are very nice. They showed me around the facility and it all looks good but we didn't push through to this facility or continue touring because of some issues we have now.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

It is with some reservations and mixed feelings that I would recommend Meadow Lodge at Drum Hill. We had a loved one reside there for about six months last year and while there were good points and bad points, we did end up moving her to a different assisted living home. The property is okay, nothing special. The property was very beautifully landscaped, particularly important as it is situated in an office park. Everything was clean and well cared for inside and out. The foyer is setup graciously, with plenty of conversation areas and a piano for entertainment. The dining room is spacious, but the numerous large tables do not lend themselves to intimate conversations between residents, or family and friends. The food was plentiful at mealtimes, but not very imaginative or tasty. Our interactions with the administration of Meadow Lodge left a lot to be desired. While we understand the facility is a business, there did not seem to be much caring or understanding on the part of those running the place when dealing with the residents and their families. After a few months, we still found that those in charge did not know our loved one's name, nor much else about her. The staff was truly the shining star at Meadow Lodge. The nurses who were there on a daily basis were spectacular, and they formed an immediate bond with our family. The recreational director was incredibly enthusiastic about engaging the residents and providing a wide variety of activities for them to enjoy. The staff that helped with the daily needs of the residents were amazingly patient, friendly and passionate about their jobs.Meadow Lodge at Drum Hill certainly isn't a perfect assisted living facility. I would rave about the quality of its staff though our experiences with the administration give me reason to hesitate recommending it wholeheartedly.'
