"Orchard Hill was a lovely community. It was the size that I wanted. The grounds were beautiful. Everybody was friendly. All their apartments were assisted living size. So, they were small. They had studio and one bedroom. "

"Giving Tree Senior Living is brand new. The rooms are beautiful, the common areas are beautiful. It's a brand new facility. The only issue I had with that place is I'd have to drive to Lowell to get there, which is a real pain in the butt, so it's the location. And being brand new, they didn't have you know, we couldn't compare. You didn't have all the activities set up and stuff like that. It was kind of an unknown. They had a nice little garden and it's a beautiful spot, a beautiful building. The staff we met were two people. It was a man and a woman, they're all very nice and they showed you everything they tried to answer all your questions and stuff. I have no complaints."

"Windham Terrace was very nice, but we felt it was too expensive for us. We wouldn't be comfortable worrying if we would have enough money for the rent every month. But it was very nice and it had a cozy feeling about it. The people were sitting around in a lounge with a fireplace, while some residents were in the kitchen. The staff and rooms were very nice. If it had been much cheaper to live there, we probably would have done so. "

"I toured Assisted Living at Pine Hill. They seem to be happy. The staff were fine. They were great. The rooms look fine, but the big thing is it's not air-conditioned. The facility was recently refurbished or redone. It's not modern at all. It's an older place, but it was clean. They have a kitchen with several tables set up. They have a place where 3 or 4 people can sit at the table."

"We visited Penny Lane for my father. It was more like a private home with a small amount of residents. As far as public transportation like a bus affiliated with the residents that drove them, there were lots of public transportation, but I thought they needed more private shuttles that would drive the residents to where they needed to go. It was worth recommending because it was more like a home rather than an institution type thing. It had a fair amount of freedom given to the residents, but they still would oversee medications and provided them guidance. The meals were prepared and included in the monthly fee, which was nice. "

"The Gables of Fitchburg is impeccably kept, staff went out of their way to be helpful, rooms are spacious, and my mother reports that the food service is good too. I have nothing but positive things to say about it. They have a lot of activities and amenities. They have a daily activities calendar. They have shopping trips, games to keep their mind alert, coffee socials every afternoon, ecumenical religious services on a regular basis, they do nails for them, musical groups come in from time to time, and once a month they have a special dinner and they invite families to participate. The staff is excellent and very attentive, and if I had to take her somewhere, they make sure that she's all ready to go, and her hair is in good shape. They've been very good, they distribute medications, and they're very methodical about it. "

"My father has been a patient at the Highlands for short term rehab after his knee replacement. My father has been very pleased with his care and staff were wonderful. The rehab department were exceptional. The discharge planning team kept my mother and I along with my dad informed every step of the way. My father is scheduled for his next replacement and would not go to any other facility but The Highlands "

"My daughter is in Life Care Center of Leominster. It's an excellent place. She has a lovely room. They have rehab and assisted living also, but she's in the nursing home. The grounds are beautifully cared for. It's very clean. There's no smell. From the minute you walk in the door, the receptionists are very, very personable. The admissions lady, Marilyn, is outstanding. She deserves great credit. The food is excellent. Peter is the chef, and he presents it beautifully and it smells good. The staff seems nice. It is a nursing home and there are a lot of people in wheelchairs, but they all seem happy. My daughter is only 60, but she can't take care of herself anymore. It's only been a week and a half, but so far, she's happy and she's well taken care of. I can't see anything wrong with the staff. I like it. I'd go there myself if I had to."

"My dad moved into the Rivercourt Residences. The staff has been very helpful, especially in a remote environment that we have now. They've been pretty good about scanning the documents so that I can fill them out and sign. I like that they had longevity in their staff too. There were people that had been there for 18 years, which is pretty significant for this type of care. There was about two weeks where we couldn't go see him, and the staff has been very good about sending us updates or emails on how he was acclimating, what he was doing, or if there's any issues that needed to be clarified. I like the fact that it is small, unlike some of the other places where there's like 10 or 12 people at the dining table. Because he's lived alone for many, many years, that would be too overwhelming for him. In this place, they only have two to three people max at a table, so I think it's less confusing for him. The best part of the facility is it's an old converted paper mill. My grandfather was a miller right there for thirty five years, so my father knows it very well. He may not know where he is in time, but at least he knows where he is in space. Also, it's not even half a mile from my grandparents' homestead. That was important for me, for him to have some sort of comfort level. They have a men's group in which the guy who's in charge of the maintenance actually meets with them. They build things or work on things. My dad was mechanically inclined, and that was another aspect that I really liked versus putting him into paintings or puzzles. He seems to be enjoying the food as well. He's in a shared suite right now with a shared bathroom, but each has their own individual room. We were able to bring in furniture and decorate it, so it was stuff that looks familiar to him. They have separate kitchens for the memory care. If they don't like the meal choices, then they'll make them a hamburger or something else. They seem to be very accommodating from that perspective. It's just they have a small parking lot. There's not a whole lot of visitor parking, especially for handicapped people."

"Wachuset Manor was a great place to be. I was there for 9 days rehab ladies were wonderful to work with. Very nice people who work here."

"My mother has been a resident here for 2 years now. She loves the staff and they really seem to care about the welfare of the clients. The apartments are very nice. The whole place has an atmosphere of elegance, yet still has a homey feel. It is very clean and they do a good job of maintaining my mom's apartment. The maintenance staff is very responsive and helpful when she has called them with any concerns or needs help. Aides are also very good. They make the residents feel like part of a family....very warm and caring people work there. I have spoken with a few who are Christians, which probably contributes to the attentiveness and caring attitude of most of the staff. There are plenty of activities for residents and shopping/outing trips provided also. The only minor negative is the neighborhood where it is located...not the best area. Although I've never had a problem with anyone in the parking lot or outside the entrance. Since most residents don't go out on their own it's really not an issue for us. And staff can see them as they wait for rides in the foyer or at the entrance. I have never felt my mom was unsafe. Compared to another facility she was in prior to this she is happier here. The fact that she has her own apartment instead of having to share a room with someone is a big plus. (In the other facility she had to share a room with a woman who got up and turned the lights on every morning at 3am. ) We are quite blessed to have found Heywood Commons and that they accepted my mom as a resident. "

"I visited Nashoba Park Assisted Living for my sister and the overall experience was very fine. When I toured Nashoba Park it was before COVID so I had greater access to it. It is a beautiful area. The staff members were terrific, and they seemed very caring and interacted very well with the clients. The dining area was spacious, the tables had room for four. It looked like there was plenty of food and a variety of food that they could get. They had a room that was dedicated to hairdressing and they had a large communal area. If I remembered correctly there was a quiet activity going around in the communal room, but they also listed daily activities, trips, and people that were coming in, and so there was a variety of activities that they have, but not all of them are on site."

"The staff was cheerful and pleasant, the setting beaucolic and the building was charming. I was just expecting a more modern facility, though she was quite pleased with the staff and other residents, not to mention how close she was to a church, for Sunday services. I'll be visiting again later this summer and look forward to relaxing outside with her. "

"My wife is at the memory care unit of Broadview, and our experience with them has been good so far. The rooms are fine, the staff is good, and the food is also good. They have different activities for the seniors, including music."
