"My father-in-law was at Keystone Commons and it was very good. It's clean and the staff was attentive. His room was well cared for. It was very good. Everything was more than adequate. As my father-in-law's abilities to take oral nutrition independently faded or were diminished, the staff was attentive and helpful when he needed assistance on that. Depending on someone's functional abilities, they offer differing activities, whether it's games or things like bingo or music therapy. They offer pet therapy as well."

"We went to see the independent living part of American House Keene. Everything we need is there. It would be a good fit. The tour was very good, and we liked how clean and friendly they were. The apartments were a lot more spacious than I thought they would be. We were pleased with everything that came with the apartment. We checked the dining area, and we liked how open it was. The staff was also very accommodating and very friendly."

"The greatest strength of the CLK community is the people on staff. From administrators to nurses to LNA's to food service to housekeeping to activities to chaplain, the staff is outstandingly caring and positive. In three and a half years I have watched the staff serve their community with excellence and heart. Those with memory loss are treated with dignity and compassion. The facility and grounds are gorgeous. The food is five star, fresh, creative, and served beautifully. Musical opportunities are regular, excellent, and a lot of fun. Our family is so grateful that our Mom can have this quality of care."

"I think that Cedarbook Village at Ware is a fabulous community. My uncle is there and they made it very easy to do the intake and to let me know what they had to offer on my uncle's behalf. They assessed him and determined the level of care he would most benefit from and they've been very kind and very good to him. The facility is clean. Everyone is very nice and polite. I've had no concerns whatsoever. It would be nice though to see some additional gatherings or group activities involving more of the men, like getting together on Sundays to watch football or soccer games."

"The person who took me around River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls was very knowledgeable. My husband has Parkinson's and Lewy Body and she was very knowledgeable about what residents with those kinds of problems need. When she was describing the programs that they offer there, I was really impressed with them. She was really engaged and very knowledgeable. She cared very much about the residents and explained all the different kinds of activities they have and why they were important. She just knew a lot medically and about how to provide a decent life to people with these kinds of illnesses. I really liked the space, the layout, and the terrace they have for people to be able to hangout outside. This facility was much nicer than the other place I went to. I wasn't that impressed with their main area though. There was TV blasting, but the memory care space was the nicest."

"My mother has been happy at the Arbors, thought initially the move was challenging. To leave her long time home after the death of my father took some adjustment, but she had the right attitude and she had found the right place. The staff is friendly and helpful, the facility clean and well managed. The apartments are small, but still offer privacy to the residents. The cost is reasonable, and it is nice that our mother can still live in Greenfield. "

"My husband was at Charlene Manor Extended Care. We chose it because it was like 20 minutes away from our house, and I got good recommendations from different people. It was rehab care. They showed him how to walk with one leg, or move around and get on chairs, and get off chairs, and stuff like that. Most people were kind and good to him. Regarding food, I ate supper with him, and it costs me $3 to do that. It was OK; it wasn't bad. Because they're short-staffed, some things didn't get done. Nevertheless, when I went in and visited, they welcomed me. Everything was pretty. They had flowers out, they had a big piano there, they had people singing, and a little guy was playing guitar. It was lovely. They really sold the place. They had television, bingo, and exercises. They had a lot of books there to read. They offered a lot of activities. They had a schedule, and each day they would tell you what was going on, so you could go with that activity if you wanted to or not."

"My wife is at Poet's Seat Health Care Center. She still needs assistance with walking, sitting, and standing, but she's improving, she's not agitated, and she's cooperative. I like the staff. I'm pleased. I have not been able to see the rooms because of COVID. I visited her once, and it was in a common area. They don't let you in to the rooms. She's working with PT and with the social worker. She certainly needs nursing care assistance and care with toileting. They have some activities, but she's very limited in what she can do."

"My experience with the Farren Care Center in Turners Falls, MA was a good one. I found the nursing staff to be caring and compassionate and most importantly they were very patient with my loved one. This is a long term care facility for people who have a medical diagnosis as well as a psychological diagnosis, so the patients are often difficult and they are always testing boundaries. I think it's important for the nursing staff to maintain the set boundaries, but they find a caring and cheerful way to redirect their residents. Residents follow a relatively tight schedule (which serves this facility well) and they are paired up with aides and nurses that are familiar with their requirements for care and who become their friends and family over time. It's important to say that this is a charitable facility and many of the residents have no family or friends come to visit them. The Farren provides a large family for people who were given up on years ago. "

"Vernon Green had the most compassionate staff I have seen. I, unfortunately, had to have my grandfather placed in a facility for the last few weeks of his life. I felt extremely guilty because I had promised him I would never do this. His doctor and I decided this was the right route to take to re-evaluate his medications and hopefully get him on the right track. This ended up being the wrong decision as he passed away a couple weeks later. The staff was extraordinary. The facility is extremely clean and people take their jobs seriously -- from the housekeepers to the kitchen staff to the janitors to the executives etc. There are several activities for participants to take part of and enjoy. There are three different levels at the facility -- assisted living, the Alzheimer's unit and the general nursing home area. "

"My sister is living at The Arbors at Amherst Massachusetts. Assisted living and memory care are in the same building, and she's living in the memory unit. I'm very pleased with it. They have nice little apartments, and she has a little living room, mini-kitchen, her own bathroom and a bedroom. It's very clean, and the service is excellent. The food looks good when I was there. I think the staff is excellent and very caring, and I think that she's always clean. They take good care of her as far as I know. I haven't been able to visit very much during this pandemic, but I used to visit her frequently before because she's been there for 3-1/2 years. I don't know what they're doing now, but before the pandemic, they used to have concerts, piano players and small groups came in and entertained, they offered some religious services, they had University of Massachusetts students came in, they had people came in with dogs for companionship, they played games, and they used to have little sessions of painting fingernails and manicure. Some of the games were challenging. They challenge their mind, so that they would have to think of different things. They had puzzles available for them to work on. Not too many in the memory unit did any puzzles, but in the other part of the place, they did. They had social events for holidays, in the summertime they had picnics and invited family, and for the holidays in December, they invited family to come in and share in the festivities. I did not eat any, but it certainly looked good. The menus were nice, and they claimed that they had chef-prepared meals."

"Rockridge was a very nice facility. My only concern there was the layout of the dining room seemed to be a little tougher to navigate if you were physically challenged as far as mobility but, otherwise, it was very nice. That was a little too sprawling for my mother. There were too many distances to be traveled from one area to another. They're both assisted living and independent living but I think they're a little more geared toward independent living but still again a very nice facility. They offer a lot of amenities, a lot of activities. I didn't think it was a good fit for my father. The units were very large, very well maintained. They had little patios for the residents and here's where they could garden and do other things. For somebody who was a little bit more mobile than my father was at the time, I definitely would recommend them. "

"I was in this facility from Dec to Feb. The OT and PT staff did an excellent job. Just the right amount of pushing to get you to go beyond where you were comfortable. They were all cheerful and upbeat. The nursing staff were caring and kind. They explained what they were doing and wh.y. The nursing assistants were glad to help wash you up, make your bed and any other things you needed done. The nursing home does not have any odor and was kept very clean. The meals were tasty and more like home made than institutional. I would definitely go back to this facility if necessary. I was more than pleased. "

"My mother recently moved to The Linda Manor from a nearby Independent Living facility. As she has been losing her sight she has needed more care. The staff at The Linda Manor has seen to all of my mother’s requests and needs. She is settling in and is very comfortable. The entire facility is clean and bright, and the staff is to a person cheerful and quick to help. They have worked with our family as a team to give my mother the support that she needs. They are quick to answer our calls. I highly recommend The Linda Manor."
