"I interviewed several caregivers and this organization found us the perfect helper for Mom. She is so sweet and Mom looks forward to the visits from her friend Paula so much. The management has been very attentive and caring about her changing needs with Alzheimers. "

"The representative from Home Instead definitely listened carefully when I described the type of support I need, and I could not be more pleased with the match they made. Danielle, the caregiver Home Instead selected, has been assisting me for nearly two months, and she meets my needs in every respect. She helps with a wide range of tasks—from personal care to light household chores—with professionalism, efficiency, and a consistently positive attitude. Danielle is dependable, works quickly and thoughtfully, and takes initiative without needing to be asked. She is a pleasure to have in my home, and I have only the highest praise for her work."

"We are using the in-home care services of Right at Home Chesterfield, VA, for my husband. They have caregivers who come in for a specific number of hours a week. They do bed baths, wash and blow-dry his hair, and trim his beard. They help feed him as he needs it, although usually I do most of the feeding, and of course, change him as needed. I have had some wonderful lady caregivers who come in here and help with him. He is not a hard person to get along with, but if he doesn't like you, you'd know it. Some of them he's gotten fond of. We haven't been doing this long, but a couple of them are already almost like family because they care. Their scheduling is very accommodating to us, too. If something comes up and I need someone, I've been able to get it."

"My mother-in-law is in AT Home Care Hospice. I have mixed feelings because I don’t know that much about hospice and what they’re supposed to do. The nursing home is supplying the 24-hour care, and the hospice is taking care of her medication. The nurse comes by about twice a week. If I have any questions, we give them a call. Each time that I had to talk to them, I was able to get somebody. They are very attentive and have been very good to work with. "

"My family has never had an agency like this one . We get the same aide every day. The aide is well trained and always on time. Our family feel like our aide is like family. We will never leave this company. The owner got us her contact information to call her if any problem. How many owners can u call personally. This is the company to call to care for your love ones. "

I am John Bonner, proud owner of Homewatch CareGivers of Richmond. RVA has been home to me for just about my entire life as my family moved here from New Jersey at an early age. I could not be happier with the decision my parents made decades ago to come to RVA. I have truly enjoyed growing up here, raising my family here, and I am very excited to see what my growing hometown will look like in the next decade. I came into this business not only as an owner, but as a client. After my father suffered a stroke, my family had to face the exceedingly difficult decisions that needed to be made regarding aging and the care for both of my parents. They each had vastly different needs and sorting through all the information that was available was initially very overwhelming. We understand the emotional toll this takes on a family and we further understand the difficult task of choosing care for the people you love. My personal experience, and that of our staff, gives a unique understanding and perspective in how to provide the best possible care to our clients and their families. Our mission every day is to promote, preserve, and restore health. We use this as a daily reminder to help assist our clients live as much of an independent lifestyle as they possibly can. Please consider Homewatch CareGivers of Richmond if you want to work with a team of professionals who will foster an environment where your loved one can remain in their own home with independence, dignity, and safety. Our guiding principal is to provide our clients with the kind of service that we would want for our own families. We understand how it feels to bring someone into your home when there is a need for professional care, and we make every effort to match our clients with the right caregiver. We strive to give our caregivers a great place to work, where they feel valued and part of our extended family. By doing so, we know our caregivers will extend those feelings to our clients. We specialize in the following types of care: 24-hour care – short or long term care Alzheimer’s care for those suffering from dementia and related illnesses Hospice support for those needing end of life care Chronic care for the disabled and those with diseases and chronic conditions Rehabilitative care for those who are recovering from an injury or illness Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about ‘our story’ and we hope to be the organization of choice with you or a loved ones home care needs in the future. - John

"Bon Secours Home Care followed the doctor's orders after my mom was released from rehab. It was fine and we had no problems with them. The caregivers were all great. They had the nursing and therapy services and provided medication and follow-up physical exams."

"This service "matches" care providers with families needing help, leaving all the conversation and arrangements between the family and car provider; similar to a dating service. Their care providers are bonded and insured and they manage all the taxes. They take $3/hr of the fee and the care provider sets their own rate. It is the best of all worlds. The first provider I interviewed has worked out famously and is now a part of our family. "

"The company is short staffed and lacking the knowledge of knowing how impactful their services really are. Kudos to being a family own company and black owned. However, they do not keep you informed of changes until the last minute including call ins, they do not have enough staff for respite hour usage even if you tell them 3 days in advance. Not only do they not have the staff you have to call them back to know they don't. They don't staff on holidays per an office worker nor do they seem to care in a profession where CARE is the top priority. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. "

"The caregivers from Safe Haven Home Healthcare give Mom a bath, sweep the floor, do the laundry, and make her bed. They sometimes come 15 to 30 minutes late, but they are very nice, caring, and patient. They have very good attitude."

"We hired Care Advantage - Mechanicsville for my dad. Dad likes the caregiver, she's really sweet, really kind to my dad, and does exactly what we ask her. She comes a few days a week and does light housework, makes him breakfast and lunch, and hangs out with him."

Company is flexible to our needs throughout the transition of various care requirements as medical situations change. Thank you for your high quality service and commitment to patient and family. "

" I was disappointed in the level of service provided by BrightStar, and I would definitely not recommend this company, especially if your loved one has dementia. Because my mother could not remember what tasks she needed help with, she got very little assistance. I had provided a list of tasks, including 3 times a week bathing, throwing out old food, checking that she had taken her medications, making sure she locked her door, was wearing her medical alert necklace, light housekeeping, etc., but this list was not given to the various aides that showed up. (During this period when BrightStar was coming six days a week, a cleaning company refused to clean her bathrooms because of smeared feces on the floors.) My mother would dismiss the aides after half an hour, saying she “couldn't think of a thing for them to do.” (This was not adequately communicated to me. I only found out when I installed nanny cams in the home.) The company went through a series of bookkeepers, and as soon as one had learned the ropes, she was gone, only to be replaced by someone who had to learn the process for submitting invoices and logs to the insurance company for reimbursement. We chose this company because they would agree to a 2 hour minimum – my mother's preference – instead of the standard 3 or 4 hour minimum other companies require, but I regret the choice. After my mother moved to assisted living, the company without authorization debited money from my mother’s bank account to pay for past services that I had hesitated to pay without receiving the logs for those dates. (The insurance company won’t reimburse without receiving the daily logs.) I had requested the daily logs for those invoices, and the company never sent them to me. Imagine my surprise when I notice over $800 taken from the account without either my knowledge or consent! "
