The Town of Lovettsville is situated in the northern region of Loudoun County, just a couple miles away from the Potomac River in Northern Virginia, and it has a senior community that makes up a little less than 7% of the population. The town is home to a branch of the Loudoun County Public Library, which makes books and other materials accessible to housebound seniors through its Senior Services program. Through this program, the library delivers music CDs, DVDs, magazines and large-print books, either directly to the program participant’s doorstep or the Books-By-Mail program.

Seniors in Lovettsville who need help with daily living activities but want to avoid assisted living or nursing home placement may receive assistance through a local home care agency. According to Genworth’s 2019 Cost of Care Survey, seniors pay an average of $4,290 per month for homemaker services and $4,458 per month for home health aide services. This is a little higher than the respective national averages of $4,004 and $4,195.

Note: Home care cost data for Lovettsville is unavailable, so data for Washington, D.C. was used.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care

Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.

Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care

If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
