Catharpin is a small, rural town in Prince William County that’s known for its safety and historical significance. The community is located right next to Manassas Battlefield National Park, which played an important role during the Civil War, and Washington D.C., which has many big-city services and amenities, is less than an hour’s drive east. Seniors aged 65 and over make up 19.1% of the population in this unincorporated community.

Seniors in Catharpin who would rather age in place than move to an assisted living facility have many options available for in-home care. Agencies in the area charge an average of $22.50 per hour according to Genworth’s 2018 Cost of Care Survey. For seniors that need about 44 hours of service per week, the average monthly cost is $4,290 for in-home care and $4,458 for home health care. The price of care in Catharpin is slightly more than the national average of $21 per hour for in-home care and $22 per hour for home health care.

Note: Home care cost data wasn’t available for Catharpin, so data for the closest city, Washington D.C., was used.

At Caring.com, we’ve compiled a comprehensive directory of every home care provider in the Catharpin area – complete with types of care provided, services offered and reviews from families who’ve actually used the service. In addition to our in-depth provider listings, we’ve compiled a list of resources to help seniors and their families access all the tools they need to age in place safely and gracefully.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care

Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.

Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care

If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
