I’m using HomeCare.com. It’s fine. They’re very good and very responsive to any concerns I have, and they’ve provided me with a good health care aide, not great necessarily, but good. They also provide light housekeeping, they help me clean myself up, and they take me to my appointment. They get here within a certain time window between 7 and 7:30, and that’s when I need them here. A lot of times my communication is directly with the aides. If she can’t come on a certain day, the agency would contact me to see whether I need some assistance or need somebody to fill me in on a given day. I think I’m paying more than I probably should because they have a mandatory number of days that I can contract for, and that’s probably more than I usually need. To maintain the contract, I have to keep them on a certain number of days.

We have Caring Senior Services coming week by week right now. They have a staff of caregivers, so they sent somebody out as soon as we signed with them, and then they send somebody else out whenever that person cannot make it. We like our father’s caregiver. There is a lot on her list to do, some of which I don’t have her do because she has to spend her time with him. We are negotiating how much we are going to have her do and how much I do, so we take care of them together. Right now, it is working out. We only have her for four hours a day. The billing is expensive at $20 an hour, and we are hoping to find something a little cheaper. So far, they have been good to us. I would give them a 5.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Lake Jackson, TX
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-Term Care Insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between in-home care and home health care?
Home care (also known as in-home care) and home health care offer many of the same services, but home health care includes medical assistance. Home care deals with nonmedical services such as activities of daily living, including cooking, bathing, grooming, transportation or running errands. Home health care performs many of the same tasks but also provides services like medication monitoring, physical therapy, help with IV medications and wound care. Home health care is typically provided by medical professionals such as a registered nurse.
What is the average cost for in-home elderly care In Lake Jackson?
According to Genworth Financial, the average cost of in-home care in Lake Jackson is $4,290 a month. This figure is based on an average of 44 hours a week, and costs will fluctuate depending on how many hours a week of care are needed.
What types of services can a home care agency in Lake Jackson provide?
A home care agency in Lake Jackson can work with a senior and their caregivers to help find the appropriate kind of home care to suit their situation. Home care agencies can’t help seniors with home health care in most cases, but they can provide an in-home care aide to assist with nonmedical activities.
.
Assisted living homes vs. home care: how to decide?
Deciding between home care and assisted living in Lake Jackson depends on several important factors such as the health of the senior in question, their budget and if they prefer to age in place even if living alone. The cost of home care in Lake Jackson is approximately $500 a month less expensive than the cost of residing in an assisted living facility. Home care also provides more privacy and independence. Assisted living, even if more expensive, could be a better option for a senior who requires regular medical attention or who has been suffering from loneliness and isolation.
What is in-home respite care?
This is a service that is available through different agencies such as the local Area Agency on Aging in Lake Jackson or the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Programs provide short-term relief for unpaid family caregivers who need to attend to personal matters such as medical appointments, family events or self-care. Personal care attendants can be provided when needed for a limited number of hours.
