This may include things like meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, hygiene and grooming. We also offer services for those with special care situations caused by numerous medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Call us to learn more about the specific services we provide.
Custom Care Plan
From the moment you call, we begin considering the specific needs of your loved one. We ask questions during the initial call or meeting to form a basic needs assessment. Caregiver Training and Care Supervision
Every Right at Home caregiver goes through an extensive interview process, including background checks. Once hired, caregivers are trained through Right at Home University to ensure that they’re able to deliver the care set out in your loved one’s Custom Care Plan. Better Healthcare, and Marissa in particular literally saved my and my husband’s life. We moved to Florida late October 2021 and met with Marissa to get help for my husband Jeff whose Parkinson’s Disease had progressed to the point we needed assistance. 2 weeks later he needed kidney stone surgery and went into a downward sprial, needing 2 levels of rehab and placement in an Assisted Living Facility. Marissa provided us with the aids we needed to get through the ordeal, and also gave me her time and gudiance in making the difficult decisions needed. Jeff is now home and finally doing better. But without Marissa’s help, I don’t know if we would have made it. I recommend Better Healthcare to anyone and everyone who needs conpassionate care for their loved ones. And I look forward to using them again when the need arises.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Palm Beach, FL
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-Term Care Insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living.Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.
Free & Low-Cost Home Care Resources in Palm Beach, FL
Palm Beach caters to older adults with a wide range of programs and services that address their overall quality of life. These resources come from both private agencies and government entities and are available at little to no cost.
SHIP helps seniors and low-income families make needed repairs on their homes that address health and safety issues. The maximum award is $50,000. To qualify, the property value must not exceed $352,000 and seniors must meet the income requirements, which are based on the federal poverty level. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the amount of funds that are available.
LIHEAP helps provide financial assistance to seniors who are facing disconnection on their utility bills. The program makes payments directly to the utility company on behalf of the homeowner, and applications may be submitted once per year.
The Palm Beach County WAP helps seniors improve the energy efficiency of their homes to lower heating and cooling bills. Repairs and upgrades include installing attic insulation, repairing siding, floors and roofs. It may also replace wood windows, doors and HVAC systems.
Meals on Wheels is a national program that helps address hunger in older adults. Volunteers deliver hot meals Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays, and may deliver frozen meals that can be heated at night and on weekends. Meals on Wheels volunteers also check to see if individuals who live alone are OK and can provide companionship.
The homestead exemption program lowers the evaluated property value for seniors to help reduce their annual property tax bill. In Palm Beach and the state of Florida, the bill reduces the amount by $25,000 on property that is evaluated at $50,000 or more.
Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
